Reviews
- KimberlyMar. 7, 2022It was okay
So there were pros and cons to this stay. The pros: 1. Wood floors so if a puppy were to have an accident it would be easy to clean up (ours didn’t but still good to know) 2. About a quarter of a mile away is a park with grass 3. About a mile from the French Quarter so definitely walkable 4. Dogs loved the bed 5. There were many guests with dogs, many different sizes and breeds (including pit bulls)
Now the cons: 1. We were told to park across the street and were give a discount for $30 a day. We said yes but as soon as we parked there, we saw around 10 broken windows. There is no one watching the area and I’m not sure the people are going to get any reimbursement for that. So we parked in the parking structure near the hotel for the same rate, but still no one watching. However, there were a lot more cameras there. 2. The walls were so so so thin. Any barking and the whole floor will hear 3. It’s by a bar so watch out for urine and vomit 4. Due to only have a shower, it’s harder to clean of the New Orleans “flavor” off the puppies 5. The staff when we checked in seemed overwhelmed. We kept being told in 15 minutes the room would be ready. Around an hour later it finally was. 6. They also charge for Wifi, the fitness room, and business room no matter what. Ask for the wifi password. 7. The rooms are relatively small and only have a bed, desk, and desk chair for furniture. While wood floors are great for accidents, not so great for dogs who want somewhere soft to sleep. Bring your own dog beds because it is that or your bed. 8. That is also questionable as it has showers that don’t let you truly bathe your dog of all the gross stuff from the floor of New Orleans
Overall, it was okay but for the dogs, but I think there were so many cons, it wasn’t as enjoyable as I hope it would be. Also, some staff seemed loss, but others seemed really on top of it
- PeterFeb. 23, 2022No pet relief area nearby
The hotel is ok but not really suitable if you are with dogs; there are no grassed areas for pet relief anywhere around the hotel.
- AyannaJan. 4, 2022Great Choice
Hotel room was spacious and had wood floors (no worry about carpet damage!). Staff was friendly and welcoming to our large Rottweiler. The hotel restaurant is outstanding. The location is great, too.
- BarbaraDec. 25, 2021The Old No. 77 Hotel and Chandlery
Great, large room, easy in and out with a dog, and street level parking lot across the street (NOT free!) was convenient for accessing dog-needed items.
- JohnDec. 24, 2021Amazing location and beautiful property
No size limit, no hassle at all. Very friendly staff that love dogs. Rooms are very spacious, all hard floors so if there was to be an accident per say would be 0 issue. I love this location, its near the casino and in a great area for dining. Its close enough to walk to the quarter too. One of New Orleans best restaurants is in this hotel too, Compere Lapin from James Beard award winning chef Nina Compton. Highly recommended.
- JenniferNov. 2, 2021Close enough to everything
The hotel was clean & quiet. Parking wasn’t free but it was across the street but there’s no such thing as free parking in the French quarter anyway. It was nice to just leave the car in one spot. The hotel was where you can walk to the quarter, river walk & the casino is a hop away.
- MarisaAug. 15, 2021Beautiful hotel!!!
We fell in love with this hotel. It's beautiful and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Great location and very reasonably priced.
- GeneJul. 30, 2021Great stay with my best friend in the “Big Easy”
Old No 77 hotel was reasonably $, clean & very pet friendly. Great location with easy walking distance to most everything. Would definitely stay there again! Geno & Ziggy 🐩
- KariJul. 11, 2021Quiet and comfortable
Hotel was good for pets and their people. Nothing special or out of the ordinary compared to other hotels that accept pets. They do charge a fee but no extra services were offered to us like the site mentioned. Good location for walking around with a dog near the riverfront compared to a crowded location like the quarter.
- ErinJul. 4, 2021Excellent location, great vibe!
This hotel was so cool, old industrial vibe and funky art pieces. Slightly musty in places but we chalked it up to authenticity! Lots of great options in the Business District, also very reasonable walking distance to French Quarter. Our dogs have never gotten more walks or attention than during this trip :)
- MakanaJun. 15, 2021Charming & Conveniently Located!
We stopped here on our road trip across the United States with our French Bulldog, Lilo. We stayed for one night and were completely charmed by The Old No. 77 hotel! It’s super dog friendly! The pet fee is also lower than most hotels in the area (only $25). The staff was very sociable and chatted with us while answering all of our questions.
The hotel gallery features local NOLA artists with curated pieces from Where Y’Art. They also have an Artist in Residence program each summer during July if you’re visiting at that time or just in the area.
If you’re a pet-owner looking for a wonderful place to stay in NOLA, definitely check in to the Old No. 77 hotel! - LaureanoApr. 26, 2021Great ambience!
Definitely pet friendly with a park a few blocks away. Perfect for us
- StevenNov. 4, 2020Will be the first choice next time in New Orleans
When we arrived, we found that we were upgraded to a suite. They indicated the upgrade was between two people and they chose us because we booked via Bring Fido. Sweet.
Very pet friendly. We had two small dogs and the dog fee was more than reasonable, less than most other places we have stay at. We typically bring our own supplies for our dogs, so we didn't need anything from the hotel for their stay. We met numerous pets while staying there. We never heard barking while in the room.
The room was spacious and very unique in a good way, a nice mix between antique furniture and modern art and accessories. Bed was comfortable. Oh and the shower...ceiling shower with plenty of power and hot water. I didn't want to get out (each day).
A previous review mentioned the scratched wood floors. The wood floors appeared to be original wood flooring,. Some might not like this, but I believe it just added character. We didn't notice dust to be an issue.
The staff was very accomidating, helpful and professional.
Due to COVID, the restaurant was closed. No minibar, but you could purchase mini-bar items in the lobby. Housekeeping was not available during the stay, but I understand due to COVID.
My only complaint is that the rooms do not have a coffee pot. Coffee was available for purchase in the lobby, and on our last day (Sunday) only Decaf was available. Not enough to deduct a full bone.
We would stay here on our next trip to New Orleans.
- EmmanuelOct. 7, 2020Charming and Near everything
We stood in New Orleans for a few days. It has that same charm as the rest of the city. Friendly staff. The housekeeper, Rena ( or Rina, I'm not sure) was probably the sweetest woman in all of the city. She took care of our room with hospitality and deserves a raise.
- SebastianSep. 27, 2020Charming, but dirty
While the hotel was charming and had tasteful decorations and art, the place was incredibly dusty and pretty dirty. We were sneezing the entire time in the room, and there was still trash in the fridge from the previous people staying in there. The floors were destroyed with scratches and had dust caked in. There was an opening behind the bed that my cats went inside that had layers of dust from who knows how long there and got it all over themselves. Parking was $40/car per night for an open lot across the street, but at least it wasn't valet, and you could reenter the lot. The restaurant and cafe were closed as well, but that isn't their fault considering the current pandemic, but it was a bummer. It would be worth it if the place was fully operational, but out of all the hotels we stayed in this trip, we were disappointed with this one the most, unfortunately.
- FrancisAug. 20, 2020Beautiful hotel
Great hotel! Very hospitable to our dog and a good park only a few blocks away. Close to everything downtown including Herbsaint which is a restaurant that I highly recommend.
- LisaFeb. 29, 2020Cool hotel for last minute stay
I booked this hotel on my way to NOLA. When we arrived at midnight then desk clerk was very rude. I asked her for a dog bowl which is advertised that they would supply. She rolled her eyes at me then stomped off to back room to get me one. She did not offer me any of the other things listed on the website. They she gave us incorrect directions to our room 481. We came back down as there was not room 481. She rudely said “who told you to get on that elevator? You have to go down the hall and around the corner to that back elevator”. After we found our room we had not issues. Room was great. That is why I gave it a 4 bones.
- BrianFeb. 21, 2020Could not find a better place for you and your pets
Could not find a better place for you and your pets. Come on they gave us a doggie water bowl and dog tags with the hotels info on it in case your baby gets lost!
- SusanFeb. 1, 2020Very dog friendly
Great location and dog friendly hotel. Got a tag, water bowl and treat for my dog on check in. Would recommend to dog owners staying in New Orleans.
- ElizabethJan. 27, 2020Terrific place to stay for 2 and 4 legged friends!
I can't say enough nice things about this place. First, the location is ideal because its within walking distance from Bourbon Street and the French Quarter while being quiet enough to let you get some sleep.
Second, the staff is very efficient and professional as well as accommodating.
Third, my dog was warmly welcomed and appreciated. Even my cats felt at ease after the long drive from Chicago to New Orleans.
The valet service is absolutely wonderful but is costly at $47 a day. It's worth it for convenience as far as I'm concerned but it may not be worth it to you.
The restaurant/bar is nice but a bit pricey. They make a great cafe au lair as well as provide great service.
Overall, 5 bones! I would definitely come back.
- JanJan. 25, 2020Nice hotel great location
Walking distance to most everything
Couldn’t check in till 3 but found a great pet friendly brewery to kill time - StephanieJan. 14, 2020Hotel was great, staff was very helpful and charming
Bella had a great time!
- BradleyDec. 20, 2019Great location and staff
Great hotel, friendly staff, accommodating, clean and conveniently located to great restaurants and bars
- RickDec. 18, 2019Friendly, great location
Nice property, but every room is different and the halls are a maze. Super convenient location. Be warned car parking is 45 bucks, but there is a lot across the street that may be cheaper
- KimOct. 14, 2019Can’t go wrong here
Multi-pet friendly, unlike most places that say 2+ and mean only 2! Ask for directions to Lafayette Park, it’s really the only green area near by for the dogs. Hotel itself is beautiful and unique.
- ChristianJul. 13, 2018The best friendly dog hotel
We came to visit NOLA for a day and came back to the Old No. 77 for a second time because the hotel is extremely nice. However, little did we know that it is by far the best dog friendly hotel we have ever stayed!! They are so accommodating, they give you a bowl, a bed, and all kinds of information about pampering your dog!!
