Lovely hotel but not as dog-friendly as they’d like you to believe

This is a gorgeous hotel with a vibe of luxury and they did allow my dogs to be left in the room unattended while I was working (I came back on lunch breaks to walk them). BUT I had a tough time locating the entrance because it was barricaded off due to a wedding reception happening the day I arrived. The concierge was very nonchalant and unhelpful via phone as I struggled to locate the doorman and eventually gave up and hauled my luggage up from the parking garage over several trips. After settling in to my room and feeding my dogs, we went down to take a walk and pee break but there was total confusion in the lobby, the front entrance was closed off to those not attending the reception and no instructions informing us of how to exit the building (other than to the parking garage, but obviously we needed a grassy area) as I scanned the crowd for an employee and someone pet one of my dogs my other dog apparently relieved himself inside and they allowed me to walk thru the event. Instructions were given to a side service door, which was directly behind the conceive desk - very awkward and not at all intuitive. The party was so loud I couldn’t hear the tv in my room, talk on the phone, or sleep - and I was on the 7th floor! When we went down for our bedtime walk, out the service door, an employee literally yelled at me and my dogs to “keep it moving!” multiple times and betrayed me for the previous incident where my dog accidentally peed inside. Which only caused me to stop, startled, and my nervous dog to immediately start peeing, which should be ok as we were outside in the driveway, but apparently that was not ok, although the 6 pillars in the driveway were covered in dog pee at all times and even faded from whatever chemicals were used to clean them. This man was loud and rude anytime I encountered him during my weeklong stay and I felt uncomfortable and nervous every time I needed to take my dogs out. The loud wedding reception kept us awake until 11pm when it finally stopped. The rest of my stay was soured by day 1. The park next to the hotel, which is the only grassy area, would be nice except there were multiple warning signs about pesticide spray in the grass, notifying us to keep pets and kids off the grass. It’s also a city park that closes at 10pm. Not exactly ideal for dogs who’s bladders don’t just shut off at 10pm. I do not recommend this hotel despite its prime location.

    Could have been better...

It would have been nice if the staff had acknowledged our dog and given her a treat when checking in.

Great hotel and my dog was very happy!

The Kimpton Marlowe is a beautiful boutique hotel. Staff was amazingly nice, and it was quiet and relaxing. My only beef was that someone was smoking in a room in the same hallway, and even though I mentioned it at the desk, nobody tried to get rid of the smell or the person smoking.

There was no room service because of the pandemic, which is totally understandable, and I had requested a king size bed and got a queen but I didn't mind, it was the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on!

    Excellent with a dog

This hotel is just the best with a dog. There are three kimptons in Boston. This one is the easiest with a dog by leaps and bounds.

Tons of grass and walking trails right next to the hotel! Parking garage is super easy and affordable connected to the hotel. The downtown boston kimpton hotels are a hike for grass and parking is very inconvenient and expensive. This is on the river so walkable to some parts of Boston(not tourists parts) but it's really a good location feet from being in Boston proper. Walkable to MIT and some bars and restaurants and the T for access to boston.

Staff is always super nice and half the guests have dogs. The hotel has a really good restaurant inside of it. There are lots of restaurants/bars nearby since this is close to MIT but the restaurant inside i think is better. There is a free wine hour daily from 5-6pm and dogs are allowed to join you for that.

Great hotel for both humans & dogs!!

We were very happy with the hotel kindly accommodating our dog traveling with us. The convenience of having hotel staff to walk your dog while you are away from the hotel was an added bonus. Will stay here again!

Great place stay. Staff was excellent and took good care of us. There was a bed and treat waiting for my dog. Close to the mall and park.

    Great dog-friendly hotel

Just across the Charles River from Boston in Cambridge, and around the corner from the Museum of Science and a sizeable mall. Staying here with my dog was (once again) a great experience. Very welcoming and no pet fee. Walkable parkland next door, across the street along the river, and a couple of blocks away. A nice place for us humans as well.

My third stay at a Kimpton Hotel because of their pet policy. Why can't all pet-friendly hotels be like this?

    Great hotel

We stayed here with our 1 year old dog who has never been to a big city before. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and comfortable. She enjoyed exploring the large room and when we woke up in the morning, we took her on a run around the nearby park. This hotel is in a quiet neighborhood (at least on weekends) and there is a mall right around the corner. This was our first stay at a Kimpton Hotel and it certainly won’t be our last!

    Fabulous hotel!

This is a beautiful hotel with an exceptional staff and outstanding customer service. There was a welcome sign with our dog's name at the entrance to the hotel, a dog bed and bowls in the room waiting when we arrived, and treats in various places on the property. There is a small park next door to the hotel for easy walking. Hands down this is the best stay I have had (with or without a dog) in a very long time. I will go out of my way to stay at the Marlowe again whenever visiting Boston!
