I'd recommend only for very short stopover

First off, the pet rate is now $20/per pet/per night. As far as us & our dogs, the staff was extremely nice & made sure we had a room on the 1st floor near the exit - for potty breaks. However the parking lot for motorcycles & semi trucks was right outside our window so the evening & morning noise was pretty bad. The walls & ceiling were so thin so we could hear entire conversations as folks walked by and people walking on the floor above us. The room was very small so the dogs & humans found it difficult to move around. The "free breakfast" was inedible. We ended up having to make an unschedule stop for breakfast the morning we left.

        Clean and quiet

Very handy to downtown Freeport and easy on/off the highway. Not fancy but met our needs -
        Would stay again.

        Great Hotel

We have been coming to this hotel with our dog for years. We absolutely love it. Great location. Great rates. Fantastic breakfast at the restaurant. We feel totally comfortable leaving the dog in the room if we are going somewhere that we can’t take him. Definitely recommend.

        we stayed one night

The room was clean enough but had some damage to floor molding from prior pet visitors which I made sure the front desk was aware of it right away.
They put us in a 2nd floor room although when I booked the room through BringFido I was assured it was a first floor room. The hotel said they had no record of the promised first floor room. Getting to the room required walking a flight of 8 steps from one door or two flights of 8 steps from the opposite way as our room was in the middle of the hallway.
I make a point of mentioning the steps as we have an older dog and steps are not appreciated- he's a 12.5 yr old beagle.

Being on the 2nd floor put us on the upper side of the hotel and taking the 8 step flight of stairs put us in the parking lot with a patch of grass approx 6'by3'. If we went with the two flights we had a larger lawn but alas the stairs were a definite hazard as these steps were partially carpeted and partially just padded with spiky nails as the hotel is in the middle of a remodel.

So we were not impressed by their dog facilities at all.
The front desk staff although friendly basically told me flat out I should just call them directly next time to assure that I get a room that I expect.

All in all the hotel worked for our purposes and being that it was a last minute booking we were glad we were able to have our dog with us.

We just don't know how they can consider a 2nd floor room to be "pet friendly".

        good in all aspects

10-3-16, we loved this hotel. We stayed in main building. Cafe on the grounds. Grass spaces for the dogs with poop bags & disposal. Loved the keurig (& could get more coffee as needed). IN ROOM recycling. Okay to leave well behaved dogs, just had to leave cell #. Staff very friendly (owner was even in the office when we checked out), room recently renovated with modern touch. Very close to LL Bean & quaint area around.

        Bad experience

We chose for bringing an elderly dog with mobility limitations and availability of a pool. We were put in building down the road that you have to drive to so no pool use without a drive in wet suits. Had to descend steep steps every time we let dog out. Room had used towels from prior tenaguest on bathroom door, was quite worn, scuffed up. Bathtub leaked enough that there was obviously soft plaster on wall around it. TV reception came and went and was not reliable. Noise from guests above was loud and continuous until after 11 and started up again early AM.. Other reviewers mentioned areas to walk and have pet bags but every area around our lot was marked no trespassing and there was nothing for pets. One stand looked like it would have had bags, but it was empty. C. Very disappointing

The whole family enjoyed the stay

Traveling with 2 dogs and a 4 year old child can be a bit tricky. This hotel made it easy enough that I've just booked another stay with them. The rooms were clean and we appreciated that the whole building was non-smoking. We loved being able to leave the dogs in our room while we walked to the cafe for a wonderful breakfast.

        Beautiful dog friendly option!

We stopped here on our last night of the honeymoon without a reservation and were accommodated without a problem. The pet friendly rooms are super nice, we stayed in 214 which was in the newly renovated building. Props to them for having nice rooms for pet owners as a lot of hotels put you in crappier rooms if your traveling with your four legged companion. Bourbon definitely enjoyed his stay too! We'll be back again for sure! :)

        Relaxing dog friendly

We felt welcome with our dog. I liked the bags provided for dog poop and noticed people must be using them. A small take out restaurant near there is a place to eat and keep your dog with you.

        Great Place, Great Rate

Best Western was a great place to stay with our family. This included Bear the 120 LB Dog. The rooms where clean, the staff welcomed us with our huge family member and when we went out they where happy to take our cell phone in case Bear decided to bark. Many placed in Freeport let Bear into their stores. (Except LLBean and resteruants which was understandable) but other than that a wonderful time...

        Great place for the dog

I will definitely stay here again if I need to go to Freeport, ME. It had a nice area for the dogs to play and to fetch a ball. Also, they supplied poop bags.

The cafe next to the hotel had wonderful breakfasts, i.e homemade granola, muffins and hash.

The location to Freeport was very convenient

Good, but stay away from stairs

My wife and I stayed there on the last night of a week-long vacation. The hotel was nice and there were no issues checking in, even with the pet.

My only gripes were that our room was right next to the stairs. This meant the dog would bark every time he heard someone come through. Seemed to be a lot of people coming through at 1-2am (on a Saturday night).

The other minor gripes are that none of the restaurants in the area are pet-friendly and that the hotel is rather far from the "main" part of Freeport. In our case these weren't a big deal since we just wanted to crash in our room after a long week.. got takeout and relaxed.

Oh, and white comforters on the bed.. not exactly dog-friendly.

        Great Motel

I would highly recommend this motel. The grounds were clean as well as the room. We had a river view room which was away from the main motel and it was very private. All the other dog owners at the motels seemed responsible for their pets which is not always the case. I will certainly stay there again.

        Had a great stay

Had a great time with our 14-pound poodle at Best Western. Room was both CLEAN and QUIET--not always the case with pet-friendly hotels. The lady at the check-in counter came out and met our pooch. She was very friendly. They took our cell phone info. in case our dog barked while we were out (which didn't happen, but it was nice that they'd do that if other dogs barked). It was only a one-night stay, but we really enjoyed ourselves.

        Nice spot

We too were in the "other" building (away from the office) and it was perfect. Built into a hill so you can't hear the traffic from the main road, it had fields behind it. Staff was great - everyone wanted to meet our St. Bernard!

        The "BEST" Western!

The accommodations were attractive and welcoming for both pets and people. With or without pets-- it was great. My 90 lb dog was right at home. Acres of fields and miles of wooded trails accessible. Just down the road from Casco Bay (dogs allowed). Staff was friendly & welcomed both of us with treats in the lobby! My highest recommendations!

        great place

i would highly recommend this place. nice grounds, with doggie bags supplied. we have a large dog (60 pds) and found that many places put a weight limit on weather they can stay or not. the best western does not have these restrictions . the room was clean and we had a pleasant stay. we would book here again.

        highly recommend

My family, including our three little loved ones, had a great time. Your staff was extremely polite and understanding. Your facility was clean, scenic, and very prepared for us. We thank you very much, and look forward to seeing you again! I have already recommended your Inn to everyone I have spoken to. Once again, thanks, and I highly recommend!

        Finally, a relaxed pet policy!

What I liked best about this hotel is that they didn't really have a "pet policy." They were very relaxed about the whole thing. The grounds were beautiful and our room was actually down the road from the main part of the hotel, so I didn't feel like my pet was being policed. Lovely grounds and pick-up bags available. Would highly recommend.
