    Bad place

    It was dirty smelled like smoke and ceiling tiles falling down. Awful breakfast didn’t eat there was afraid to. Only reason we stayed was late at night and had been on the road for 12 hrs.

    Terrible location

    The entire hotel was dirty. We had bare wires in the ceiling where the smoke detector should have been. The baseboards were pulled off the walls and laying on the floor. We wouldn’t walk barefooted on the carpet. We had no ice bucket. There was no fridge or microwave in the room. The bathroom sink had no drain plug. The front desk clerk when we checked in was less than friendly. The room was damp and smelled. Breakfast was poor. I’m being generous giving them even one bone.

    Super friendly and great value

    Only stayed a night. The gentleman at the front desk when I checked in was extremely nice and the lady I met in the morning checkout was extremely nice as well. I highly recommend.

    Need to clean up dog area

    When we checked in, our furry kids were welcomed and interacted with which was nice. The first thing I noticed when we arrived was that when I took the pups to the grassy area closest to the front door, there was so much dog poop that I couldn’t walk on the grass and my dogs could barely find a place to pee. I was appalled at the amount of poop, but thought maybe the areas near the back would be better. They were just as bad so I had to take them off the property to potty. I did notice there was a waste removal station, but I don’t know if there were bags or not because I couldn’t even attempt to get to it (besides I carry my own bags).

    Other than the dog poop, the rooms didn’t smell bad, but the corners and under the bed and close to the furniture had not been cleaned well or at all. The bathtub looked like it had a ring around it, but I think it was just discolored. There was a strain on the “bedspread” and the breed only had a sheet and the very light weight bedspread. we asked for a blanket, but were told that they didn’t have any at all in the entire Inn! The beds were very comfortable.

    I must say that they had an awesome complementary breakfast! The waffles were “make-yourself” but they were ready to put in the waffle iron with the measuring cup provided. They were so good!The breakfast staff was very attentive and willing to help or answer questions.

    Although this place doesn’t get a great review from me, I spoke with the manager and he acknowledged the issues I had and asked me to give them another try. He was just brought to this location 3 days prior to our stay to update, upgrade and find associates who will take pride in their work and be willing to DO the work. He seemed to be very dedicated to turning things around and I would try them again.
    However, this review has to be about what we experienced as result of previous management’s job.

    Run from this one

    They gave us a room that had someone in it passed out on the bed. Then we finally got to an unoccupied room and there was no tv remote. They gave me one at the desk and that didn’t work. The worst part is that they were completely unapologetic about it all.

    Would stay again

    Staff was outstanding, clean, and very pet friendly. Recommend heavier bedding. Basic breakfast items and hot waffles.

    La Quinta really no bones

    Pet not really recognized. Staff nice, manager lazy. Had to ask from 3:00 to 9:15 pm for wash cloths, toilet paper, no cups, coffee maker broke. All 3 Linens were thin dingy. TV remote not turn on tv, manually work.
    Breakfast no juice, only continental. Really run down but no live bugs and good water pressure. Liked BringFido service.

    Disgusting and scary

    Filthy everything. Dirty towels, beds, bathroom, floors. Everything. Also seemed to double as some sort of halfway house, super sketchy people milling about at all hours.

    Needs improvement

    Hall carpet very dirty. Overall shabby looking. Only breakfast foods available at 7:45 were waffles, cereal, OJ. No plates, no milk.

    On the way up or on the way down?

    Neither Kiki, our Shi Tzu, nor my wife and I were impressed with this location. No amenities at all for people or dog! No exercise room, no pool, no dog walking area, no poopie bags. Hopefully Wyndham just bought this place and is planning renovations. Most of all the area does not feel safe and numerous unsavory looking characters continuously roamed around just outside the front doors. A “one bone” rating is far too much. Avoid if possible.

    Great Location

    The hotel is located across the street from the mall and other shopping choices including Target and Petsmart. The room was located on the third floor but my dog didn't mind the elevator. The hotel itself needs love but clean and tidy. Everyone was super nice!

    It was available

    I would have given zero bones but it was an available reservation. Dirty entrance full of cigarette butts, breakfast should have read, cold cereal only and no milk for it and there was old coffee and no cups for the coffee (brought the cups from our room to fill). The morning Staff made no eye contact for fear of us asking for ANYTHING. I heard her on the phone complaining that she was the only Staff person there when I walked into lobby and on my way out I could hear her making the same complaint to someone from housekeeping. Very disappointing since the night before we stayed at a La Quinta and we gave it 5 bones.

    Last Resort place to stay

    La Quinta "management" was a couple, the male of which was hurling numerous 'F' bombs in the public breakfast area about 10 minutes before breakfast. Not saying he is a bad person, but just has a limited vocabulary. On Sunday 10 minutes before breakfast, waffle batter was on carpet (from previous day ????), all the breakfast area trash cans were full, and the 'gentleman' and woman that worked there were just talking, no one considered cleaning up or emptying the trash. With pets there were few choices. The sheets were relatively clean and there were no bedbugs on inspecting the mattress. Hall carpets filthy, building maintenance poor, but was reasonably quiet. For $90 all in, not a good value, but if you are on a budget with animals and stuck, might work for you.

    Not worth the money

    The bed was all right. Door at end of hall couldn’t be accessed with card from the outside. Door was propped open causing security issues. Cracked and jagged bulb in lamp. No soap in the room and front desk said they were out. Carpet is old and stained in halls and rooms. Hall walls need patching and painting.

    Ideal overnight stop with dogs

    I stay at a lot of “budget” hotels and La Quinta is usually the best. This La Quinta in Columbia, MO is no exception. Nice big, clean room at a great price; and NO PET FEES. I also really appreciate the 12:00 checkout time, unlike most places which require checkout at 11:00. La Quinta Columbia is close to a mall and lots of basic restaurants, too. I thought it was perfect for an overnight stay.

    Great location but…

    A hard ridden property lagging behind the other La Quintas in which we have stayed; structurally, mechanically, and aesthetically. All night could hear conversations and footsteps above and beside. Sounded like intermittent leaf blowing and lawn mowing throughout the night. Clearly it is a favorite among frequent dog travelers and the staff accommodated as best they could.

    Not likely to return

    No pet fee and walking distance to the Columbia Mall are the best features of this property. The property was old and run down and had very little sound proofing between floors and rooms. The COVID safety practices advertised were not in force.

    Needs Work

    La Quinta is usually an excellent place to stay. This property needs work. The bed was clean and linens were fresh. Floors were dory and stained. Elevator made unusual sounds. Dirt in elevator. Door next to us had knob and lock missing. Close to Highway and noisy. Pet poo waste can was running over. I have always enjoyed La Quinta but was disappointed at this location. Our key didn’t work and several people at desk had same problem. Pets are welcome here is a good feature. Property needs to be updated and cleaned properly.

    A bit disorganized

    Maybe I caught the staff on a bad day, but nothing seemed to be ready for me when I checked in—no keys, the bed wasn’t made, etc. I ended up in a 3rd floor suite pretty far from both the elevator and stairs which was tough with the dog. The suite wouldn’t have been a problem except that there was another dog in the adjoining room, so my pup was going crazy all night.

    Wonderful staff and management

    This was the cleanest-smelling LA Quinta I have ever been to. The staff were pleasant and friendly, rooms clean and comfortable. I was forced to stay an extended length of time for unexpected vehicle repairs so became familiar with the employees, who seemed to all have a good work ethic...engaging themselves with upkeep and maintenance of the facility, yet able to interrupt their task at hand to answer questions or provide assistance with a smile. Thank you, Columbus MO La Quinta crew! You made an unpleasant situation bearable.

    This hotel is extremely dirty, hypodermic needle sticks to a paw is a real concern, and the employees are less than desirable. There is no pride in their work and I would never recommend this specific La Quinta.

    Too disgusting even for your dog!

    Pet area on steep hill and not well lit. Hotel itself was filthy. Do not recommend, keep looking.

    Gross

    This place was a mess. In our room the hair dryer didn't work, the sink didn't drain and the TV wouldn't turn on because a cable was missing. When I reported these deficiencies to the night clerk his reply was "Awesome." It most definitely wasn't awesome.

    I was offered no discount or price adjustment for my room. The outdoor grounds were littered with trash. This place needs a total makeover. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

    Very welcoming and friendly

    Great place to visit for dogs. Only downside is there wasn’t any rooms on the 1st floor, so could be difficult unloading/loading and using elevators with dog in hand

    Great place with pets!

    This is on the West side of Columbia. No issues with the pets - you just get asked to sign a waiver. They have a dedicated area out front with poop bags and a trash can. Lots of other pet owners there the same night we were.

    Was ok for a night

    The hotel is clearly old and run down. The place is in need of a total refit. That being said, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

    not recommended

    We would not recommend this hotel because it was so old and had not been updated at all. Wallpaper coming off some of the hallway walls, bathroom faucet did not work...had to use the bathtub faucet when I wanted water. Sometimes I could get the sink faucet working but it was a struggle.

    Needs updating and loud A/C

    Pretty run down, but got the job done. No extras of any kind. Only 2 towels and 1 washcloth in the room. Curtains too long and covered a/c unit so when the curtains got closed at night it cooled the window and not the room. The unit also turned off and on constantly and was EXCESSIVELY LOUD. Only ice machine on 1st floor worked.

    Hotel hasn’t been updated since it was built. There one room wasn’t even cleaned prior to us getting it and the other room had vomit or something in the carpet that one of my dogs wanted to eat.

    Filthy Room

    This place was gross. I had to get on my hands and knees to clean the floor because my dog kept finding thing to eat and ended up getting sick. There was not only old food on the floor, but dirt build up like areas had not been cleaned in at least a year. Also, the shower didn’t work, so I had to go to a different room to take a shower, the coffee pot spewed steam, but didn’t make coffee and the beds were in terrible condition. One bed was visibly sagging and the other collapsed in when you sat on it. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

    Accommodating and perfect

    Yet again I drove til the wee hours of the morning and needed to sleep.
    I got a room right by the lobby so my ole man dog could get outside fast and pee!
    It was quite, clean, comfy, staff were nice and we slept like a rock!!!
    Didn't eat the breakfast because I was too excited to check out the Panera.
    This chain has saved my butt twice now!! Love them.

    Consistent Value

    I generally prefer Red Roof Inns for their more explicit dog friendly policy, but La Quinta is a very close second and very good choice because of its consistent level of quality. For this trip, I was on a long (3,658) journey including a few days at the Hunting & Working Airedale Nationals and a nostalgia visit to D.C. So, the La Quinta stay was overnight on the long drive home. The room was clean, comfortable, sufficiently sized (unlike, say, the more typical "trucker" motels one finds along the Interstate pathways), and welcoming. As I have observed in other reviews, ignore the boiler-plate material on BringFido about grassy hillside pet exercise areas; they don't exist. In this instance, there was a grassy area sufficiently close and sufficient for the purpose. One downside of La Quinta and many other "suite" hotels is that they have a limited number of dog friendly rooms, usually not including suites. But, for this journey and in this instance, that was not a concern. Overall, the La Quinta Inn in Columbia (MO) was a comfortable experience and a good value proposition.

    Dogs gladly welcome

    We were welcome with our dogs - not the most up to date hotel but was happy to find a clean convenient place to stay in the midst of a grueling cross country ride- if you’re traveling with pets it’s a good place to stop for an overnight.
