  Good location

  I would have to give this place only 2 bones. This BW was dog friendly, only $20 for pooch and right off the highway -- convenient. The room however was dirty and looked like it hadn’t been scrubbed in a while. Stains on the walls and tub. Floor had debris like it hadn’t been vacuumed. The remote to the tv had dried food or who knows what on it. It was loud with people slamming doors and talking loudly until well over 3am. I have stayed in many BW that were clean and comfortable but this one was not.

  Run down

  Old beds, dirty floors, 1 trash can not emptied. The whole room needed restoration. Towel pole fell on the floor. A/C made noise like a locomotive.

  Horrible experience

  If possible we would have given zero dog bones. Our stay lasted little more than an hour but this Best Western location not only refused to give us a refund, but then afterward we saw an additional charge of nearly $200. Shortly after checking in, our 15-year-old daughter noticed the window of our first floor room was broken and would neither close nor lock. She and my wife were uncomfortable staying here, so we reported it to the front desk employee. She offered to give us another room, but this one was unsatisfactory as well. There was something very sketchy about this hotel, and we decided to just ask for our money back so we could check into a new hotel. The young lady at front desk said that the manager would have to authorize the full refund and would be back in the next day.

  We went to a different hotel for the night and returned to the Best Western the next morning. The manager told me her employee claimed we had been there 2 hours. I assured her we had not. She said she didn’t know why her employee would lie and that she couldn’t give us a full refund because we had allegedly stayed for two hours. She provided the phone number for the Best Western corporate office, but didn’t even attempt to check their own records to verify what time we checked in and what time we left.

  We subsequently saw in our bank statement that they not only refused our refund but inexplicably added another charge of $196! As of this writing we’ve shared this experience with BringFido the Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Halifax County Convention and Visitor Center, and upper management of Best Western. But we’re still awaiting resolution.

  Not impressed

  I had asked for first floor due to traveling with a new dog but they gave me 2nd floor. Then charged me again for my ‘pet’. Bathroom in need of serious repairs, microwave filthy, a few bugs flying in the room. Since we drove for 14 hours too tired to get a different room. Breakfast-frozen sweet rolls, not set up
  at designated 0630 time. Good for pets with designated area.

  Not able to sleep

  We were assigned a room adjacent to a room with loud music and talking. I asked the front desk clerk to address this as soon as we brought our luggage to the room when we arrived at about 9:00 pm. She said she would talk to them. Nothing changed. I called the front desk at about midnight and said the loud music and loud talking were still ocurring. She said again she would talk with them and nothing changed.
  The loud music and talking kept going until 4:00 am when yelling started. I called the front desk again and said loud music and talking had not stopped all night and now people were yelling. She said again she would talk to them. Then heard slamming doors and it was finally quiet at 4:30 am. NOT Recommended.

  Made our dogs feel right at home!

  Our suite was clean, which was a relief considering the comments regarding this hotel. New management is trying to upgrade the place so travelers feel safe. Would need major refurbishing. Carpets need to be changed, paint etc. It would certainly help in eliminating the dinginess people are commenting about.

  Dirty nasty room

  From the floor to the ceiling, room was filthy. Needs a deep cleaning and bugs in the shower. Disgusting for $122. Made me sick.

  Solid place for pets overnight

  The good: nice sized room. The property had a decent amount of room to takeout pup on a walk. Pet treats at the front desk. The Less Good: The A/C in our room was barely cooling, the blackout shade was full of holes. Overall: not a bad place to stay with your dog, if you accept that it’s not The Ritz.

  Adequate but disappointed

  Facility was adequate for the price, but service sucks! When we informed staff the toilet had trouble flushing, we were told "issue noted." The free breakfast was cold and not enough coffee and food were supplied.

  Paper thin walls! Worst night sleep ever

  Pros - Room was clean and bed comfortable. Cons - Walls were so thin that we were awake listening to the local partiers next door until nearly 3am! Dogs were on alert all night there was so much activity. In order to be truly dog friendly, I would keep the Saturday night locals away from the road weary travelers.

  The curtains had large wholes in them. The place smelled and the bathroom door was 2 inches away from the toilet.

  On our way to Florida from Baltimore and great stop off en route. Staff welcoming and friendly and welcomed our dog

  Convenient and dog friendly

  Convenient, 1st floor dog friendly stay. Great grassy area for your pup. Room is clean but dated. Towels are like sandpaper- great for exfoliating if you like to look on the bright side. Not bad, not excellent—average.
