  Our visit to a dog friendly cafe at sunset was nice. Ugly neighborhoods. Short drive to older charm.

  Great service

  The front desk gentleman was all set to give us a bag full of doggy treats when I told him our pup had died the night before. (Taz had been on doggy hospice for five months so it wasn’t unexpected.) The front desk gentleman was so sad for us and very sympathetic. I was very appreciative of his kind words.

  Super friendly!

  Every staff member we encountered was super friendly! They gave my dog a goodie bag upon check in. They have a nice little area in the back for dogs to use the restroom. The staff was extra friendly, breakfast was great, and the room was extremely nice and clean! Would definitely recommend this place.

  Friendly staff

  The staff was very nice and accommodated us getting in an hour early. The location is difficult to get in and out of and our room had a dog odor. I understand it’s hard being pet friendly and not having an odor but something to keep in mind.

  Wonderful stay

  Very friendly staff, clean room with plenty of space, the beds were really comfy as well. The breakfast was good every morning. I can’t say anything that could be better!

  The staff was really friendly. Room would have been ok except that the AC wouldn't get cool enough at night so I couldn't sleep. Kept lowering the setting and tried high, constant fan, but it didn't help; don't know if there was a programmed over- ride setting or the AC just wasn't working properly but it was definitely above 72 in our room at night. The grassy areas were dried out and mostly brown. Will look elsewhere next time we're in the area.

  From the time we walked in we were treated like family if not better. Very friendly and helpful staff, our puppy was welcome with genuine kindness as well. Room was clean as well as all the common areas. Breakfast was good and different each day. Will definitely stay here again.

  Great location, great staff

  Comfort Suites did everything to make our pups feel welcome - a treat bag on check-in, a cleverly, sweetly worded letter to our pets gently/kindly presenting rules. The beach was a short drive away. There was a good spot for walking dogs, with bags provided and nice outdoor seating area. Southport had lots of dog friendly dining as well. Just wish we were there longer. Hats off to staff at the inn.

  Great, comfy room and beautiful hotel. Very dog-friendly! Rooms were very clean and spacious, and the hotel was very modern.

  AMAZING

  This was our first hotel stay with our 11 month Bernese Mountain dog so we weren’t sure what to except. It was an AMAZING experience from the time we checked in until the day we left and we even extended our stay!! The front desk staff went above and beyond and were extremely helpful and I have to say one of the best hotel staffs we have come upon and we have stayed at a lot of hotels over he year. They even had a doggie bag waiting for Barli. I can’t express how satisfied we were with our stay. Barli can’t wait to go back!

  We had a great stay...the hotel was very clean, great location, the continental breakfast was very filling with eggs, Canadian bacon, biscuits, waffles, pancakes & much more. The staff was also very friendly & cared about the canine visitors!!! Great place to stay!!!

  THE BEST!

  If you are visiting the Southport/Oak Island area with your dog(s), definitely stay here! Very clean, spacious, dog-friendly, and human-friendly. Only a few minutes drive from both SPT and Oak Island (btw, be sure to stop in at Gonzo’s on Oak Island for nice toys, food, treats, a dog wash after the beach, etc.)

  Took my best friend Sharky here as part of her early 13th bday east coast beaches/state parks tour. Comfort Suites was our introduction to the area, and thanks to people like wonderful Michelle in guest services (now officially “Auntie Michelle”) not only did we start our trip off right but we decided to move to Southport! Such a friendly, caring, and beautiful place!

  Plenty of room to walk your dog for potty breaks, conveniently located from your room. All the guests (dog and human) were lovely as well. Got a great sleep/snuggle both nights in our cozy king bed. Very peaceful and relaxing.

  Even when we move to the SPT area, we will be doing staycations at Comfort Suites! Coming back through tonight for another 2 nights to check out properties in the area and see our new friends again! Can’t wait to see Michelle and all the lovely, helpful staff soon!   Well prepared for pets

  This hotel is well prepared for pets. There is a dog walk area and we received a goody bag for our dog at check in. The staff was very friendly and seemed to have plenty of experience with four-legged guests.

  Central location

  Our suite was very roomy. The play/run area for pups consist of a swampy area with no fence where smokers congregate. Front desk staff was friendly though I was asked for the $25 pet fee in the middle of the night when I took my dog to pee. That seemed like bad timing. The hotel is close to several great beaches- be careful of rules for leashes and times.

  Fond Memories!

  We decided to make a last minute trip to the beach with our 9 year old mutt last year. Little did we know it would be one of our last family vacations with him before cancer took him from us. We have such fond memories of staying in this hotel with him. The staff was great and gave him a goody bag upon arrival. Our room wasn't quite ready so we took him to Pet Supplies Plus down the road where he picked out his favorite stuffed animal. They gave us a ground floor room, near the door to the walking area. Lots of room to walk with outside seating area in the shade. For the humans, the continental breakfast is great and they were offering complimentary fresh popcorn each afternoon. Rooms were clean, which is most important to us! For such a dog friendly beach/town there are not many hotel options that allow big dogs. Thank you Comfort Suites, for giving us a reasonably priced option to bring our pup! Will definitely bring our new pup here this year!

  Very Nice Hotel

  Took our 3 yr old Border Collie for a 2 night stay. Front desk staff was very friendly. Our room wasn’t quite ready (we were a little early). We went exploring and they called when ready. Southport Animal Hospital is literally right beside the hotel. Very reassuring if emergencies come up. The room was nice, spacious and clean. Very comfortable. Very welcoming of our dog. Free continental breakfast a plus. We will definitely stay here again!!
