  Dog friendly but only gravel on property, no grass. Very comfortable beds for our bad backs. Some deferred maintenance. Basic breakfast: waffles, cereal, toast, etc. Very nice staff.

  Ideal for dogs

  Tons of dogs were here during our stay and most of us were in the same wing of the hotel which for us reduced any stress we would have had about our dogs being noisy. There’s a great vibe with the staff and other guests. Breakfast is continental, but with good options. Plenty of areas for dog relief with seating available and clean-up bags included.

  The staff is friendly and the room was clean. The only drawback (and the only reason not a 5 bone), is our room on the fourth floor which makes it a bit more difficult with a large dog ;-)

  Needs some love

  The rating and reviews on this place were decent so it was rather disappointing. I am fine if a hotel is looking a little dated as long as it is clean. This one however looked very tired, run down, and didn’t seem very clean. I guess we are getting spoiled with non-carpeted surfaces and so many of the hotels but the carpet there seemed dirty and was glad we were only staying one night there. Staff was friendly though.

  Clean, comfortable bed

  In a pinch I would stay here again but overall a pretty run down hotel. That being said, the bed was great and the staff were nice. The floors were somewhat dirty. The paint in the bathroom was peeling.

  Pets a priority

  This is an older La Quinta, but they make up for that with the extra care they take. First pet is free. Several motel employees stopped to greet our cocker spaniel, he responded with a tail wag. Bed was comfy, clean shower with good water pressure. Breakfast didn’t have eggs and bacon, but did have everything else, fresh and well-stocked. Dog walk area supplied with bags was in a convenient spot. We would stay there again.

  Dogs Feel Welcome!

  Great hotel that is very close to I-10, gas stations, and restaurants. The dog relief area is very well maintained and spacious. The dog friendly rooms are either on the ground floor or are near a stairway. Even with other dogs on the property, our room was soundproofed enough that we didn't hear anyone else.

  The hotel thoughtfully booked us near the stairs. The hotel was one of the nicest pet-friendly motels booked on our cross-country journey.

  Nice room

  Very clean room except for the carpets that made our socks black so we learned to keep our shoes on at all times. It was probably one of the cleanest, well stocked, and nicest smelling hotel rooms I have stayed in for awhile and we travel a lot. Bed was very comfortable. Hotel staff was friendly and it was nice to get a first floor room with the dogs, however it was right next to the electrical room so it was hard to sleep with the loud buzzing noise next to us. Avoid being put in Room 101 if possible. Felt like it was in a safe area and is right next door to Cracker Barrel. One nice grassy relief area for the dogs.

  HazMat Suits Needed!

  We wanted to check-in early so we called the hotel directly. No one answered so we tried two additional times and still no answer. We decided to drive there and ask them. We couldn’t check in early so we thought we would use the lobby restroom and come back at check-in time. OMG filthy, filthy, filthy - excrement, urine -- we cancelled our reservation. The hotel was in a dicey area, the person at the front desk was unfriendly. The pictures in the ad of the hotel are NOT what you see when you walk in the door. It is a tired, worn out facility. Steer clear!

  Old, tired, and in an iffy neighborhood

  The room was a decent size, the beds were comfortable, and the room was clean... but that's the end of the good news. The furniture in the room was tired and a bit worn, as was the whole hotel. It's just aging, and could use an infusion of money and TLC. The staff was neither friendly nor unfriendly; they were just kind of there doing a job, which is the atmosphere of the whole place. It's there, doing a job. The one thing that is not the hotels fault but is definitely worth noting is that while there are much worse neighborhoods, the neighborhood this hotel is in is a bit iffy... which may explain why ownership has not invested much in maintaining the property. We debated between giving it two and three bones, and while two bones may seem harsh it definitely didn't earn a three.

  Needs Updating

  Stayed here two years ago and chose it again this year, however, hotel needs some updating. Bed was very comfortable, but couch and chair spotted, faded and cushions worn out.

  Clean and spacious room

  We had a king deluxe room that was very clean and spacious. The young gal at the desk went out of her way to get us a couple of luggage racks. Very helpful and nice. We will stay here again in the future.

  Good stay!!

  Good things about the stay: nice spots to take your dog to pee and poo! Location is walking distance to some food and shops. The staff are friendly and helpful. The not so great things: the carpet is old and stained and my sheets weren’t spotless with a couple of tears but I think it looked like it was in a dryer that snagged and that’s what I found out. Everything including the sheets and room smelled clean and fresh. A tiny bit noisy at times since my room faced the street. No frills breakfast to go is bad but who cares! The tub stopper didn’t work so you couldn’t keep water in the bathtub. Without me even asking the staff at checkout gave me a little credit and apologized for the inconvenience. But overall I didn’t take any stars off because for the rate, this was perfect! Also, my dog that I have NEVER seen pee indoors peed on the green carpet as we were checking out because it looks and feels like grass. I was mortified!! I kept apologizing and said I’d clean it but the lady was super sweet and says it happens and they clean the welcome mat often so I was grateful. For this rate and awesome service—Give them a try!

  Grass area for pets in front of the hotel. We liked that we had the option of 2 different stairways to take the pooches either to the front of back of hotel as an option to using the elevator.

  Love this La Quinta location!

  I travel back-and-forth between Texas and California every year and this is always where I stay overnight when we’re driving to and from. The beds are super comfortable. The rooms are really clean and everything works! The service here is great and there are plenty of places to eat nearby.

  Warning!

  Hotel stay was fine, nothing exceptional. The room seemed clean. A little disappointed I had to lug our bags & dogs to 3rds floor. The only elevator is inside the lobby. Carpet was stained in several areas. We left early in the morning, so I didn’t officially check out and sign a receipt. Instead of charging my card $64, the hotel charged $6400! I didn’t find out until my card was declined somewhere else. It’s been several days now and the manager of the hotel is “on vacation” but I should have my money back in a few days... ? I understand mistakes happen, but I should have been informed.

  Did the trick!

  Easy to find right off the highway. We just needed a place to stay for the night on a road trip with our dog. No real issues with anything. The only thing I will say is there isn’t really much area to walk your dog. It’s mostly parking lot/shopping center so we just walked laps around the hotel. There is one small patch of grass for bathroom breaks, but our dog is a sniffer who likes to walk a bit first.

  Good place to stay

  This was a good place to stay. The room was clean. The dog area outside was a good size. Only issue was that the dog rooms were on the fourth floor.

  Very nice hotel

  We were given a room on the first floor hear the side door to take the dog outside. Nice room, nice breakfast. Everything was fine. (There were some homeless people living next to the doggie yard, but they were no problem.)

  This was my least favorite La Quinta ever . The room was clean , and I had no issues with the room or location if it, etc .
  But it was the unfriendliness of the front desk service . Two separate employees who worked front desk acted as if they were doing me a favor to answer questions , assist in any way , etc .
  It was my only La Quinta negative experience .
  I would not return with my dog simply for the attitude of the staff there .

  Great Option for Pet Owners!

  As far as the hotel goes, it was better than I expected. This was our first time traveling with our dog and I was worried how it was all going to work out. They were extremely nice at the front desk, and the room was normal (carpeted floors). No one bothered us about our pet, even when he barked for a couple minutes when the pizza guy got there.

  As for the area, you might want to unload your car first. Its a pretty run down part (not sure if all Las Cruces is like that) and there are a couple homeless that just walk around. They do have security in the parking lot at night which is awesome. But while walking around a lady stopped me and said "I know its Sunday and you're probably in the same boat I am but can you help me find some herbs? I really need herbs and I don't know what I'm going to do if I don't get any." Yeah...that's when we decided delivery for dinner was a good idea.

  So all in all the hotel has done what they can. They can't control the area, I just know how much your heart sinks when you pull up after a long drive and that's where you stay. So just know ahead of time and be prepared.
