- RemyAug 21, 2023Nice Rooms But Very Difficult Check In and Parking
The rooms were nicer than I remember and locations was dog friendly, but check-in was challenging as MGM requires you to now install and use the MGM Rewards app to check in, and get your digital key and parking pass. The app could not locate the reservation as it was made through BringFido and calls to Hotel Staff for help were useless. Required a call to Bring Fido to find the right confirmation number. (Checking in without the MGM Rewards app means standing in hours-long lines to check in and there is no close entry location to park your car and unload luggage and pet.) Hotel nickels and dimes for everything - valet is another $35 along with parking and "resort fees" of $80. BringFido was great help in finding the confirmation number on the backend that allowed check-in and parking but MGM's requirements to use the application for parking and check-in needs some re-evaluation. It is not convenient and doesn't work if you booked via another booking site. Long waits for international travelers also indicate its a bad design and not user-friendly. In the 106 degree + heat this really made for a horrible checkin experience.

The staff was wonderful and our room was big and very clean. The only issue was that the turf in the dog park needed to be sprayed down. In there defense it was 105 degrees so it may have smelled either way.

This hotel had the lowest dog fee, but be ready for the hidden resort fees once you check in. Our pit bull has anxiety so we were just passing through and just stayed the for the night. Check-in went smoothly. Lots of elevators to choose from in case you have guests who don't want to be around your dog. The room didn't have a fridge but was spacious for our crate. If you're driving, parking sucks so we just went ahead and paid for the valet. Bring cash - we used it to tip our bell man who took all our things to our room so we can focus on getting our dog to the room without disruption. Overall it was OK.

When we checked in they gave us a couple baggies of dog bones (which our boy totally appreciated) as did we. There is a dog station to take pups to and all around the outside there are areas to walk them to to relieve themselves. We ate at a couple restaurants there that let our boy join us. All they ask is for them to well behaved. Walking him through the casino was a piece of cake and no one made us take special routes with him to get him outside. All were friendly and welcoming. Rooms were spacious; could have the extra large crate our boy has and still plenty of room to enjoy the room.

We had a great stay, but was WAY more expensive then first thought. The cost we thought it would be was $28 for the room, $50 for our dog. Well, the hotel has a $39 resort fee plus $18 per day for parking. Expect our one night stay to be less than $100, it ended up being much more! Everything else was great.

They had a dog area outside of the hotel and everyone on staff was very dog friendly. We stayed with big dogs and had no problems checking in.

We had a great experience at Excalibur with our dog Gus. Gus didn’t care for the tiny “dog park “ but we found and great place to walk him nearby. The staff was super friendly to us. Yes, the dog cost more than the room but he is worth it and we all had a great time. I recommend the Italian restaurant on the 2nd floor for great food and excellent service.

After looking at many hotels, we chose to stay here on a quick overnight trip through Vegas. The pet fee was somewhat steep ($50) but cheaper than some that were charging $100. The hotel has a nice but small pet area with fake grass and generally a nice outdoor zone to walk. Everyone in the casino and hotel was super nice to us and our dog. They definitely seem to like dogs there. There is also a Starbucks so you can get a puppucino for your pooch. Downside is that parking is a long walk if you have all your stuff and dog stuff and your dog on a leash, lots to juggle at once. Also takes a bit to get up and down elevator in high rise hotel, then walking through the casino a bit to go on dog walks. But this is true for much of Vegas. Overall a good choice though.
