Reviews
- ShaundaJan. 28, 2023Always a good place to stay with our baby!
I won’t travel without my baby Bella. This is a great place to stay in Reno.
- AlexJan. 14, 2023Felt like home
We tried the Whitney Peak, and it was ideal. They have little swag bags for your dog at check in. The small dog park on the block really makes staying in this hotel a pleasant affair. There is a floor of the hotel where the dogs stay, which is nice, because you worry less about leaving your dog alone and disturbing others if they bark. Great stay and we’d come back for sure.
- JessicaNov. 10, 2022Fancy schmancy
I like that there is a no-smoke, no-gambling option in Reno! The hotel was very nice and clean. Unfortunately, they were out of doggy gift bags when we arrived, but the receptionist did not bat an eye when my dog and a few other dogs barked at each other. The hotel itself was a bit too happening for my dog; there was a concert and a wedding going on and we were on the 8th floor. Some other guests saw my dog and I and were like, "Ugh, dog people. Dogs shouldn't be in hotels." Ha, well...
- RachelJul. 10, 2022Worth it!
SO worth the extra $$. Clean, updated, and insane amenities (wish we were there longer!) Didn’t love that parking was in a separate lot but it was super safe and secure and the valet let me take all the time I needed to unload the car. Really glad we stayed here.
- SarahJun. 20, 2022Totally worth it
Great hotel that caters to dogs. Lola got a goody bag and treats. Dog park close by. Also has a sauna, gym and rock climbing. Very clean and professional.
- ErikJun. 20, 2022Relaxed Reno
Huge room. Huge bed. Would 100% go back.
- AlisMay. 8, 2022Doesn't understand dogs
This hotel boasts that it is dog friendly. Not really. The "dog welcome" package consists of cheap dog-related merchandise emblazoned with the Whitney Peak name. They charge a $75 dog fee, have no on-site area for dog relief (there is a decent, but small, dog park 2 blocks away), no place you can eat with your dog (except in your room, which doesn't have a table), and there is no room service even though there is a cafe on site.
I was told I could just leave my dog in the room and come down for dinner. Or order for pick-up and eat in my room (on the bed, apparently). We were placed on the 6th floor, at the end of the hallway. So we had a trek to the elevator, then down to the first floor, and another trek across the lobby. Thankfully, my young Corgi has a strong bladder. I would not want to stay here with an elderly dog. A suggestion for this hotel: place some tables in your spacious lobby, or the wide hallway between the lobby and the cafe, so dog owners could at least eat with their dogs. And put something more appealing in the doggy welcome bag.
- GeorgeMay. 6, 2022Very nice place
The road to park in front of the hotel was easy to access and almost a private road for the hotel. Valet was super helpful. Easily the most dog friendly hotel we’ve stayed at. They pretty much encourage bringing dogs. The swag bag was an awesome touch. Highly recommend this hotel for travelers with their pooches!
- BethFeb. 6, 2022Great puppy friendly hotel
Nice amenities and staff treated our pups well. Convenient dog park as well. Thanks all!
- SuzanneFeb. 3, 2022Perfect dog friendly hotel
We recently stayed at the Whitney hotel. Perfect dog friendly place to stay. Rooms were clean and spacious. They provided a doggy swag bag when checking in. Close walk to the dog park and casinos. We will definitely be staying here again. Highly recommend.
- DeanNov. 2, 2021Staff was very attuned to all our needs
Easy to communicate. Whitney staff texted us well before we arrived. Was so easy to connect by text. Room was great! Nearby dog park. A nice retreat from the intensity of Reno. It is where we will stay for a secure base!
- ShannonOct. 29, 2021Very friendly
Loved the doggy bag.
- DavidOct. 21, 2021Welcomes my human
Staff welcomed my human but not me. Felt left out with no room to play.
- SaraOct. 17, 2021Wonderful Dog-Friendly Hotel
Had a great stay at the Whitney Peak Hotel. Staff was super, the rooms were extremely clean. My dog was very happy with her gifted bag of toys. We had a delicious dinner at the restaurant and enjoyed Benji's cocktail expertise. Good times.
- JoannOct. 17, 2021Very Nice
Really like this hotel and the staff. There are two draw backs to this hotel: one is the distance to the only dog walking area and the elevator situation. If you have young dogs this may not be a problem for you. But my dog is 12 years old and has really bad hip displaysia and a weak bladder. Having to wait sometimes up to 5 minutes is extremely hard for her. She actually ended up urinating on the rugs in front of the elevators on numerous occasions as well as in the lobby area. The staff were extremely understanding and never made her or us feel bad about these accidents. And once you’re out of the hotel the dog walking/park, which is very nice, is a block and a half away. Again, stressful and painful for my senior lady. Otherwise, nice hotel and rooms. Beds are not real comfy but everything was really clean, food was good and convenient to other casinos.
- JasonSep. 27, 2021I will stay again!
Nice hotel, friendly staff, dog friendly, and a dog park adjacent to the hotel!
- RobynJul. 26, 2021Dog park across the street
The hotel is very dog friendly and I was happy that there is a nice dog park across the street.
- JenniferJul. 16, 2021Sort of Pet Friendly!
I want to say the staff was wonderful, friendly and caring, they made us feel very welcome! The location is also great. Unfortunately the room we had was rancid with the smell of urine and we could see huge spots on the carpet, I couldn't sleep from the smell. The carpet should be removed, tile and a rug would be a better option for a dog friendly room. We has a brand new puppy with us and I didn't want him on that carpet, sorry. I wish the restaurant was dog friendly too, I had presumed it was but I was incorrect. I don't want to take away from the great staff from the valet to the front desk from this review but that carpet in the room was awful and I hope it will be addressed.
- JoshuaJul. 14, 2021Hot night and a clogged drain
The first thing we noticed was the bath tub was not draining. I pulled a huge glob of hair out of the drain. Then, the A/C was not working all night. It blew a weak semi-cold air, and after battling 103 degree heat, we wanted to be cold. Very hot restless night. Other than that, the hotel was beautiful. The decor was amazing. Great location, and great staff. Beds were super comfy.
- NicoleJul. 8, 2021Great Place
We has a great stay. Very friendly and they had a doggie bag full of treats. It is located down the street from several dog-friendly restaurants.
- JonJul. 3, 2021Great stay
Dog park less than a block away. Nice clean hotel. Very pet friendly... gave welcome bags to both dogs!
Staff very friendly and helpful. Neighborhood can use a bit of help... but is in process of cleaning up...hopefully next time we stay the hood will be a bit better. - SandyJun. 11, 2021Wonderful, dog friendly hotel
Great hotel, friendly, helpful staff. Great location for people and pets. The dog park across the street is the nicest park I have seen. It is for locals and visitors. The room was clean, very comfortable bed. We were passing through Reno. I will stay here anytime we are in the Reno area. One of the best places I have ever stayed at with my dog.
- RichardOct. 13, 2020Last-minute reservation, excellent location!!
Was helping my cousin and his family and three cats move from California to Colorado. The hotel my cousin booked ended up not accepting felines. Within minutes, I had a room reserved for that night, immediate check-in, and I took the cats with me. Room was very, very nice, as was the entire hotel! Check out the rock climbing on the outside of the building! Amazing hotel.
- MichaelOct. 9, 2020Nice place
Nice place for the dog!
- JamesOct. 3, 2020“Hip” Hotel... Dog Park Across The Street
Newly remodeled “hip” decor. Nice rooms. We paid $80 extra for a suite. It wasn’t over the top, but big and probably worth the extra money. There is a nice, new dog park a half a block up. The river walk is 2 blocks away. I would recommend at this place over staying at one of the casinos... especially if you have a dog with you.
- EvaJul. 16, 2020Cute Rooms But Bad Location
room and view were awesome
but the location was hard to find, and the parking was very inconvenient (a whole different building across the street).dog park was nice, but felt unsafe taking my dog to go potty at 10pm.
way too many homeless. - SueJul. 10, 2020Highly recommend
Despite Covid 19, we were welcomed with enthusiasm on our arrival. It was very quiet, which suited all of us - my boyfriend, myself and my wee dog, Skipper. Although no treats offered to Skipper, we were happy to be there. Our room was spacious, with a great view. The bed was extremely comfortable so we slept well.
It was a pleasant surprise to find the large Reno sign at the side of our hotel and the casinos very close. We struck lucky both with the gambling, the hotel and our visit with family.
I particularly liked the maps of all the ski runs all along the corridor although we never found one for Heavenly.
From a dog perspective, it would have been nice to have a small bowl so we could fill it with water for Skipper, but only a small thing. Overall, I would recommend the Whitney Peak.
- KarynJul. 3, 2020Modern, comfortable & very dog friendly
We we’re welcomed by friendly staff, given a doggie goodie bag at check in and happy there were hand sanitizer dispensers and gloves available throughout the common areas. There is a fabulous dog park across the street and it was so nice to see a number of guests with their doggie family members.
Highly recommend the Whitney Peak for your next trip to Reno. Just wish this was the standard for all dog friendly hotels. - SarahJun. 25, 2020Great Location
Pros:
- there is a sweet little dog park on the adjacent block. Quick access and well maintained. (June 2020- dates because we all know urban dog parks often get gobbled up by developers)
- you can leave well behaved dogs in the rooms
- The “RENO” sign it literally at the entrance of the hotel, so it is very centrally located to all of down town.
-the rooms are spacious and the bed comfortable
- there is aN outdoor Rock Climbing wall if you’re into thatCons:
The pet fee is exorbitant, but unfortunately not too far off for other pet friendly hotels down town.
- not sure if they have ‘pet floors’ but floor 9’s hallway was HEAVILY drowned in pet deodorants. Nauseating. But the room it’s self not so bad.
- They were at very low capacity as we visited just 20 days after the COVID reopening... BUT nothing seemed to work! The battery in our key card lock was dead and we had to wait in the hallway, with our dogs who just drove 600 miles with us, for 18min for maintenance To show up. The hallway was hot and smelly and I was tired. But maintenance was nice and quick once at our room.
- the bathroom fan did not work and there was distinct mildew smell
-the drains didn’t drain well and the toilet did a strange thing every time it flushed. Making you wait a fairly long time to make sure it didn’t flood your room!Overall, based on this experience, we would try a different spot next time rolling through Reno. Mostly because it was just so expensive for a sub par experience. But I also don’t regret it. Anywhere my dogs can be comfy and sleep off a long day while we go play is a win in my book.
- DamonMar. 17, 2020Great place best dog friendly
What a great dog friendly hotel, dog park one block away, friendly staff and just a nice hotel overall. My dogs loved it too!!!!
- JodiJan. 4, 2020Great everything
Wonderful staff, great location...right next to a dog park and room was plenty big enough for our 2 big puppies.
- DaveSep. 28, 2019Nice Place
Hotel is smack dab in the middle of Reno's downtown casino hotels, but it is definitely a winner, especially when you consider that they welcome dogs. Nice rooms, excellent restaurant, dog park close by that gets washed down nightly.
- IanAug. 19, 2019Super friendly
Nice rooms, located downtown by all the action. And valet parking was nice especially at 2 am when we rolled in.
- ChristineNov. 25, 2018Goodies and a place to run
Expensive but a good experience and one of the only if it’s kind in Reno. They were very nice to Morty at check-in and gave him a goody bag with poop bags, a nice tug toy, a collapsible bowl, a ball etc. Also, despite the lack of greenery in Reno there was a dog park on the block to get his wiggles out after traveling.
- Sarah WebsterMore than a year agoPet Fee is a rip off
The hotel charged a base fee of $75.00 for your pet, plus an extra $35.00 hidden fee that is added as “tax.”
