Live Away Lakehouse
ABOUT OUR HOUSE
Gorgeous lakeside house with it’s own access to Shasta Lake through the Doney Creek Arm and beautiful views of the mountains and trees all around. The large wrap around deck has ample seating to enjoy meals, birdwatch in the day and stargaze by night. The home is well furnished with all of the essentials and also lots of games and activities including a pool table & bocce ball. Only a short drive away from Redding, Mt. Shasta, Lassen and so many more beautiful places to explore year round!
THE SPACE
The main family / living room has a cabin-like open to structure design with vaulted ceilings, a gorgeous wood burning fireplace and a large LED Smart TV with lots of DVDs. We have WiFi and you can also access your own Netflix/Hulu/HBOMax accounts if you prefer but we generally recommend disconnecting while at the Lake.
There are 3 bedrooms, 1 bonus room and 1 loft (all with beds as shown in the photos) to accommodate a maximum of 9 adults and 5 children (not including infants under 2 years). There are 2 ensuite full bathrooms and 2 common full bathrooms all hooked up to a new on-demand water heater. The heater may take a few minutes to warm up but works great for simultaneous use.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a 5-burner gas stove, toaster, microwave oven, large fridge, other appliances and all basic kitchen utensils & supplies. There is a fully stocked Tea/Coffee station with teas, cocoa, creamers, sweeteners, fresh coffee beans, a grinder and 3 coffeemaker options to make coffee how you prefer it. We also provide pantry essentials such as salt, pepper, cooking oil, and filtered drinking water (from the Refrigerator or using the Zero Water pitcher.)
And if all that's not enough, you are going to love the bocce ball court and the game room with a pool table, lots of board games, books and puzzles to keep you and your family thoroughly entertained. There's more- we have created a brand new game room in our garage which has a ping pong table, arcade basketball, skeeball, pac-man video game, darts and a sound bar to enjoy some music. We also added a hot tub where you can relax after a long day of fun outdoors.
THE LOCATION
Located only a couple of minutes off Highway 5 our home is incredibly easy to reach any time of the year. At the end of your drive, you will find a beautiful home at the end of the cul-de-sac with its back to nothing but the lake and forest. There is local grocery store, a gas station and a few restaurants nearby so you could easily spend a few days at the house without needing to go very far. But for those who choose to venture out it also serves as a great base to explore nearby gems like Mt Shasta, Lassen National Park, Burney Falls, Dunsmuir and so many other incredible sights.
Come stay at our house and make life-long memories with friends and family experiencing a variety of activities and attractions that you can only find in the Shasta Cascade Region. Whether you're planning to play in the lake, hike a near volcano, fly fish in a world-class rivers or simply spend some time among the woodpeckers and hummingbirds, we can't wait to host you.
The cabin is located at the end of a cul-de-sac with sufficient parking for at least 3-4 cars. You will also have access to the garage where you can use the game room as well as park one car. Please be respectful of some of the personal items that belong to the owners which are in some of the garage cabinets. Part of the garage where you park your car is monitored by a camera as it has doors which also enter the house. This is for everyone's safety but don't worry it does not interfere with your private game room space. While we have tried our best to make the garage safe it is not fully child proof. Please accompany your little ones at all times.
The back yard opens into a forest with a unmarked path leading to the lake. Feel free to walk around on different walking paths or across stepping stones, but be very careful as the ground can get slippery especially when it is wet. You can also use the back gate to walk towards the lake or explore some trails in the vicinity.
The guests do not have access to the storage sheds outside and the pantry closet next to the kitchen.
Otherwise, guests have full access to the house, garage and the yard as well as the open parking spaces outside the house.

OTHER IMPORTANT ITEMS TO NOTE:
~ A maximum of 2 household pets (cats or dogs) are allowed on the premises with an additional fee (per pet)
~ The location is beautiful, quiet and somewhat remote. There is limited cell service but it is better if you have Verizon.
~ We miraculously do have internet but with limited options in our neighborhood, please don’t expect superfast speeds. While its plenty text, chat and get on your favorite social media platforms, you probably want to go easy on streaming all those cat videos. And hey... you came to the lake to get away from it all anyway, right? :)
~ During cool winter days, we recommend setting the house thermostats to 68-72 degrees during the day but much lower at night. All of the sleeping areas and especially the loft can get hot as the warm air rises up. Please remember to close the doors and windows when you are running the Heat or AC and please do also refer to our House Manual for additional details about heating/cooling operation.
~Security camera/recording device — We have five cameras - one at the main entrance, one monitoring the backyard fence and two monitoring each of the sideyards. There is also a camera in garage that monitors the two entries to the home. These are for safety reasons only and do not monitor any private spaces for the guests.
~ There is a small grocery store in Lakehead which has all the essentials you might need. The closest supermarkets like Walmart, Safeway, Sprouts, Trader Joe’s, etc are in Redding about 25 minutes south on I-5. We highly recommend guests pick up groceries and supplies in Redding before driving up to Lakehead.
~ Please respect the wildlife around you. You might spot deers, wild cats, bears and various types of birds. Please give them their space and keep a safe distance. Do not feed the bears or any other wildlife.
~ During winters (Dec-Feb), we put away the barbecue and cover the outdoor furniture to protect it from rain and snow.
~ The house is on a septic tank so please DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING EXCEPT TOILET PAPER down the toilets. Trust us, you do not want your vacation ruined by a backed-up plumbing system.
~ We put up some light Christmas decor from Thanksgiving through early January. We hope you will enjoy our festive decor around the home.
~Please note that Shasta Lake is a reservoir so lake level can vary greatly changing the views, distance to the water, boat and marina status/access. Please review information on lake level prior to booking.
~Forest fires are common in the summer and fall in Northern California. Depending on wind direction, you may have smoke or haze that come into the area. Avoid the Shasta area this time of the year if you are sensitive to smoke.
