  Clean hotel with grassy area

  The staff here was so helpful and very friendly. Great place to stop for the night with our dog. I appreciated the cleanliness of the hotel even though it may be a little bit older. Would recommend.

  Super Staff

  The hotel was recently remodeled. The lobby and common areas are modern and clean. The rooms were updated a bit, but still have some of the old school feel. Very clean. From the moment we walked in, to every re-entry, the front desk staff were very friendly. They even offered dog bones to all of the pups. The dog walk area is not fenced, but it is in the far back corner with fences on two sides. Our picky pooper found a spot in just a few minutes. Thank goodness. I'll stay here again when visiting the in-laws! Cheers.

  Perfect for fur babies

  Friendly staff, sensible breakfast, easy freeway access, large grassy area adjoining, residential neighborhood so able to take our dogs for a long walk after hours in the car! Access via lobby seems it would be awkward, but not so. Trader Joe's and pharmacy very near for food and urgent supplies. Perfectly fine for a good nights rest with our two fur babies!

  Comfortable and nice hotel

  Very nice room, convenient to services, nice swimming pool. We would have preferred a mask mandate for public areas.

  Very hospitable, good value

  The room was well-appointed and clean to sanitary standards. Comfy bed and sofa; nice size room. Well-stocked free breakfast. Excellent value for the price. Dog-friendly rooms are on the first floor, which is one floor down from reception — essentially a reasonably lit basement. The door on the floor exits to a grassy area for walking your fido. Nearby residential streets also provide convenient routes for walks. Salem is a small city, so most attractions are a short drive.

  Great location!

  Hotel works OK but having to always enter through the lobby with your dog is somewhat of a hassle especially in the pouring rain. You could exit thru other doors but no re-entry that way.

  Great reception very clean facilities

  We got a room in what felt like the basement, very dark and dingy but it was only for one night so didn’t really matter. If you’re going for longer you might prefer to ask for a different level room. Breakfast was included so this stop was great value.

  Love this hotel

  We had a great stay at the Phoenix Inn South Salem. It was a last minute reservation and we made a random decision to stay at this hotel. What a pleasant surprise! An older hotel that is excellently maintained. Very very clean and well kept. We would definitely stay here again! I would give our stay more than 5 stars if I could. Thanks Phoenix Inn.

  Highly recommend

  Great place to stay. Clean and bed was comfortable. Great setup for doggies. They even gave my grandpug a goodie bag when we checked in. Since no establishments are serving breakfast because of Covid this was the only hotel we stayed at that gave us choices of light breakfast items that was ready for us the next morning.
