        Don't Stay

The lobby is beautiful, which is misleading. The room smelled so bad my lil guy appeared uncomfortable. The room had flies galore. I thought maybe due to the weather. The last straw was the infestation of roaches in the bathroom. There are better choices for the money. Fido should really reconsider putting them as a pet friendly hotel. Any place that would subject an human or animal to these conditions and allow them to pay for it should be charged with a crime. Totally disgusted.

        Convenient location

Pros: Rooms were fairly clean despite carpeting, staff were nice, lobby was beautiful, complimentary breakfast, 15-min drive to King Street

Cons: carpeting, motel style hotel not shown in pictures, complimentary breakfast on patio but was wet from sprinklers so unusable, toilet would not flush

        Convenient. Clean. Comfortable

Great location and choice. Checkin was quick. Room was clean and comfortable, with access to back area to walk the dog. Would highly recommend and would stay again.

I'm familiar with the area, so I was confident that I'd receive quality service. Clean and comfortable room, friendly staff, and you cannot go wrong with Bessinger's BBQ down the road!

        Good Doggie Place

Stayed 2 nights, requested and got a room in the back near the 2 doggie walking areas. Got a nice treat pack with BringFido sticker on it on our arrival! Room was clean and comfortable, entire staff was attentive and very dog friendly. Only about 10-15 minute ride to downtown and many dog friendly restaurants in the area.

We had a great stay at Best Western Charleston Inn. They have lots of area to walk my dog, pick up stations, and dog loving staff. They also had a great complimentary breakfast.!

        Perfect for Pets

We spent 5 days here, and it was perfect! We brought our 90 lbs yellow lab , and were greeted with a ' welcome bag' consisting of treats and info on places that are dog friendly ( treats were available for a refill 24/7 at the desk) . There is a pet walking area , with a "pick up' bag station, and the rooms are quiet, and dog friendly. We were super happy here. <3

        Clean and Quiet

We would stay here again. Room was very clean and quiet. I wound up walking my dog down the road in front of the hotel and that worked fine.

        Great Experience

Hotel rooms were just remodeled and had all the amenities. Location was convenient to downtown. Staff was very helpful and were pet lovers. I would have given it 5 stars if there was a better pet walking area with grass. The current area was muddy due to recent rains. We would stay here again.

Dog friendly, Clean Room, Great Location

We stayed here while visiting family for the Holidays. The room we stayed in seemed newly renovated (almost too new with a faint freshly painted smell). The hotel was very dog friendly with a nice area for relieving our dogs. And it would be hard to beat the location since we needed to go both downtown as well as down to Edisto Island to visit family. It is barely 10 minutes to the old part of Charleston and conveniently located on the highway from Charleston to areas South. There are also lots of restaurants and stores nearby. We didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel, so I can't speak to many other amenities, but check-in and check-out was a breeze.

        Great place, highly recommended

We stayed here for a wedding and it was a great experience.

        1. Rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. Fridge was super cold and the microwave worked.
        2. Staff was all very nice and very helpful and all of them seem to love dogs.
        3. Complimentary breakfast was nice. Not amazing, but good waffles.
        4. Pet relief area has baggies provided.
        5. Area had cute restaurants and it was only 15 minutes from downtown Charleston.

Can't think of anything else at this point, but I recommend it if you are looking for a nice clean place to stay.

        Worked for us! November 2014

Our room was in the back of the establishment on the first level which made walking our dog or grabbing something from our car really easy. It was also quieter and away from the main road on the backside of the hotel. The room with a king size bed had plenty of space for my husband and I and our 65 lb goldendoodle. Below you'll find some of our thoughts about our stay to help you make the best decision for you and your pet.

        - Pet-fee: Only $20 per pet per stay (we stayed 3 nights, only the $20 charge)
        - Dog-friendly rooms location: parking right outside of room, grassy areas to walk dog, very little traffic
        - Continental breakfast - we only utilized this once, but wish we had more often; it was in the front of the establishment so it was easiest to drive up to while our pooch waited in the car; there was outdoor patio seating where the breakfast was served which may or may not be dog-friendly (we didn't ask, but wish we had)

        Cons (not too bad):
        - Location: in a central area, but in an older part of town; we probably won't stay here again only because it was farther from the attractions we were most interested in seeing
        - Noise: not terrible, but it's an older hotel and we could hear our hotel neighbors pretty well; it was worse on busier nights; it mildly had our pup on edge as she's used to having her own house with plenty of yard separating her from other curious strangers
        - Older: not a huge disappointment, but the hotel is old thus it's room design is outdated and the furniture is older; the room is simply less functional than more modern layouts

Bottom-line: We would consider staying here again as we know our pup is welcome, the accommodations are appropriate, and the price was very reasonable. We hope you enjoy your trip to Charleston as much as we did!

        Clean and very dog friendly!

This hotel was older, but very clean and great for pets. There is room for dog walks and very convenient to restaurants and downtown Charleston. It was an easy 10 minute drive to be in the center of the historic district. It was close enough to come back and check on the dogs and then head out to dinner.

        Clean, Friendly for all

It was very easy to book the room. Not only are they pet-friendly but military-friendly as well. The staff was very warm and welcoming over the phone during the booking process and when we arrived as well. The room was very clean and well-organized. Also the continental breakfast was delightful as well. All-in-all, great place and a great stay; if it wasn't for my dog being there, i would have guessed this was just like any other good hotel. The place is very well-kept. Will return on our next beach trip.

        Thanks for a great stay!

        We had a wonderful experience!!

Thanks ever so much for being animal lovers and understanding that you can provide a really nice, clean room (which you did) and that pet owners can be responsible enough to make sure that they and their pets can leave it that way.

A win-win situation for all around!

We all were made to feel welcomed and comfortable and will highly reccommend your Best Western Sweetgrass to our pet lovers and everyone else we meet.

Thanks and hello to all your friendly, helpful staff for a great place to stay.

We travel to Florida and need a stayover once or twice a year. Also, our Civil War Re-Enactment group comes to the event at Boone Hall Plantation once a year. We love Charleston!

        Thanks again,
        Linda Stables
