Room stunk of cigarette odor and wasn’t cleaned properly. We found lots of dirt, hair, and skin behind mattress facing head board. Towels aren’t even washed with bleach!!! The white towels were grey. Area is bad with noisy ghetto folks around. Never been there before and never will. Was a horrible mistake, wish we could get a refund. The name Hawthorn is misleading; would have checked somewhere else but was too tired. A disgusting hotel. Definitely not recommended. Next time it’s south Charleston. Don’t stay in North Charleston!!

Had only one towel in the bathroom and it appeared to be used. Tried to call front desk but neither phone worked. Got attitude when asked for towels. Thought I’d be nice and empty the dishwasher, which showed “clean”. The dishes had crusted on food. Floors were filthy including drips of food in kitchen. A coating of pet hair on the couch and chair. We cleaned them with baby wipes but I still refused to sit on them due to other stains. We wore our shoes when we had to walk around. I cleaned the kitchen floor with baby wipes so the dog’s water bowl could be set down. I put my dog’s bed at the foot of our bed so he wasn’t on the floor. The curtain rod was hung incorrectly so the curtain centered itself during showering and water was all over the floor. We had to use our precious towels to mop up. When brought these things up was told that room wasn’t to be given to anyone, yet was not offered a different room. Breakfast food was inedible. When asked where to take our garbage we were chastised for having to take out garbage after only one night. I don’t know about your house, but in mine we empty trash every day. When asked if there was a printed TV guide was told someone would drop one off but no one did. I’d like to send a scathing letter to the manager but when I asked for a name was told there is no manager. I get that the fire alarm going off was probably not the hotel’s fault, so I didn’t mention it previously. That aside, I have to say this is the absolute worst place I’ve ever stayed. We would have left but could not find a hotel or Air B

We stayed here for a weekend trip in October 2018. It was close to the airport, but we really didn't hear the planes while we were in the rooms.
Breakfast was good, not gourmet, but good. They didn't blink when we brought rosco (25 lb jack russell mix) in to eat with us.
I walked the dog early and late and never felt uncomfortable. There were people around, sitting on steps and so forth, but they were friendly.
The hotel is aging a little. Still clean and in good repair, but not new or fancy.
All in all, it was a decent hotel.
