We loved this place. Friendly staff, great food, and clean room with comfortable beds. Also a walking path just on the other side of the cafe to walk our dog. Beautiful area.

The location is amazing, the room was clean and comfortable. This roadside motel is beautiful, there’s a cafe right next door, and great hiking trails nearby. We highly recommend.

what a great hotel! nestled in the Redwoods. it’s old but we’ll cared for and loved. we enjoyed our stay and felt immediately at home. very dog friendly! And the cafe next door has great food. will definitely come back!

The hotel is about 10 miles outside of Crescent City and the drive up is so scenic we wouldn't mind if it was twice as far. The hotel is clean and attractive. The grounds well kept and beautiful. A bit on the pricey side but we felt well worth it.

This place is a (good) blast from the past, located in a resort area up the road from Crescent City CA. It’s been there a while but solid repairs and renovations are in evidence. Because the building is vintage, its sound abatement is good. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. We’re glad we stayed there.

Loved this spot! Seems like it has been recently remodeled. Beds super comfy, great coffee maker in room, hi tech heater (my guys a tech geek), small fridge which was welcomed. Access to BBQ, fire pit, outdoor games. Nice to not be in town! Bummed we didn’t get to try the cafe as it got rave reviews. Super gal at check-in made a recommendation for a seafood place. It rocked. Not fancy just great food.

If you are planning on visiting the Red Woods and don’t want to camp, Hiouchi Motel is the spot, the location is key. Checking in was a breeze with the help of Adriana. I was a bit skeptical because the pictures depicted an older looking motel but don’t judge a book by its cover. The room was super clean and felt so inviting and the bath and vanity were upgraded! The shower pressure was great, our bed had a warm blanket, the Ac/Heater was quiet, they have two coffee machines in the room and the towel was comfortable (not scratchy like other places LOL) and the price was so reasonable. I would highly recommend this place! Come check them out
Side note: They also own the Historic Hiouchi Café next door (check out my review), let them know you are staying at the motel.
Dog Friendly, I want to say they charge $20 per night. (not sure if its per stay, per dog etc give them a call) - AlexApr 16, 2023Surprisingly great!
We found this stay as endearing. There was no fluff as we stayed in a room that had not been renovated. While the furniture was a bit aged, and we had problems with the TV, we mostly focused on how clean the rooms were and the location. We would definitely stay here again, as we plan to come back to the Redwood NP/Smith River Valley area.

Older hotel with adequate updates but could use more. Okay for the night after a long day in the Redwoods. Glad it was available for us as we travel with our dog. Great restaurant right next door.
