The Read House was very dog friendly and welcoming. The only inconvenient aspect was having one small area of grass to go potty in. It is across the busy street in front of the hotel. If you have an extremely picky dog when it comes to finding the perfect place to potty, like I do, it caused some frustration for both of us.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel is beautiful and quiet. Rooms are large, so the dog had plenty of room to play. Best place we have stayed with our dog. Walk up the street near the library and there is a nice spot with grass.

This hotel allows dogs, but it is not dog friendly. You have to cross a busy street to find some green space that is next to offices (and, yes, those people can watch you). The lobby is beautiful, but the rooms are subpar. Visit the hotel to see the lobby, but don’t stay.

The Read House is our favorite place to stay in Chattanooga with our doggies. The hotel is wonderful with an excellent steakhouse, a bar, and a Starbucks. The dog friendly rooms are now all on the 3rd floor since the renovation, and we were worried the floor would be noisy. We were pleasantly surprised how well insulated the rooms were from sound from adjoining rooms. The only time you can hear a dog barking in their room is in the hallway. Nothing in our room and we were in the middle of the hall. You do have to take your dogs out to the front sidewalk area to potty, but there are a bunch of trees with mulch along the sidewalk so we had no problems with that. I would absolutely recommend this hotel.

We chose this hotel because it listed room service which we like to do breakfast before hitting the road
As well as dinner if we arrive late so not have to search for a pet friendly restaurant
Please be advised that the side of the hotel that allows pets does not offer that! Only the other side! We were not aware that there were 2 sides and the one we had to stay in was truly more like a motel room not worth the price although you are led to believe you are somewhere special by the lobby
But then are led to the other end of the hotel that obviously has not been renovated in quite a while
If it is within your budget when in Chattanooga stay at the Edwin hotel ( where we stayed on our journey to our destination but wanted to try something different on the way home)
The Edwin treated us and our pup as royalty with treats and a special bed and we could eat outside at the restaurant!
A bit more per night but a world of difference in experience
I wanted to love it here but I am very disappointed
