        Don’t Stay Here!

As I was putting our cold items into the fridge water from an ice bag dripped on the floor. I got a hand towel to dry up the water. In just two swipes the towel was black with dirt. After this I immediately began to foot mop using the towel the areas I would be walking in the room. I wish I could upload the picture so that you could see just how disgusting the floor was. Believe me, if we hadn’t been so tired and hungry I would have left! Later that night I was standing in front of the tv and as I took a step back, my flip flop stayed on he floor (stuck). The bathroom door wouldn’t close and the white tile was black around all the edges. Spend the extra $25. Stay somewhere else I reported dirty floor to manager and gave him the dirty towel. He gave the excuse that the floors were mopped but they were dust magnets every time the door opened. Really?

        It's dog friendly

I had reservations at a really nice well known local place but at the last minute had to bring my dog so I picked this place because it was dog friendly and didn't have an outrageous dog fee.
Pros: dog friendly, price, no carpets, okay room
(I met a women in the office who was trying to get her reservation refunded because her room was filthy, I saw pictures and it was)
Cons: The neighborhood is sketchy (I've lived my entire life in the NYC metro area and have always worked in inner cities, so I know sketchy) the hotel is up a hill @ traffic light 10. When you turn on to the street there is a Cici and a little further down a few nice larger hotels and then you cross a bridge... There is on the right a motel that looks semi abandoned and then a large abandoned motel behind it. On the left there appears to be a nameless motel that is used as an SRO now, and some rundown apartments in the middle and across from the motel 6. I was not afraid of getting shot by a random bullet (more like the show Criminal Minds, maybe getting kidnapped or mugged) I see a lot of teens walking around Gatlinburg and while I would probably let mine walk around in a group, I would never let them out of my sight around the motel.
The room smelled like the disinfect they use at the vet's office. We stayed at another dog friendly motel 6 in North Carolina (it was a palace) with carpet and it didn't smell like this.
The "balcony" in the back facing the river. The balcony is a rickety wooden deck. It stinks of cigarettes. You can't see water, only debris tossed all over the place (not garbage).
Second floor room, there were vacant first floor rooms, why give me a second floor?
The WiFi is in and out but this is all over the area.
        The toilet didn't always work.
All in all I would probably not stay there again. This is a shame because we stayed at a motel 6 in Galax NC and that is what a $60 a night dog friendly motel should be. I think in a few years this area will be rebuilt and I may try it again.

        Sketchy room

I'm pretty sure they put us in a smoking room, even though we did not request this and the hotel was not at capacity. The room smelled musty, like stale cigarettes. There was a dirty pink towel shoved against the door and a weird stain on the hardwood floor.

The bathroom was in disrepair. The fan/light in the bathroom was covered in dust and made a horrible grinding sound. We showered on the dark. The sink had a crack in it. The ceiling in the bathroom was damaged. There were burn marks on the tub. The fridge froze all our food and drinks. There was no fireplace as advertised.

The good news: It was fairly quiet and we got a room facing the creek, which was nice. It was close to the Gatlinburg Trail, which is dog-friendly, and Mynatt Park, which allows dogs. This was good news, since the doggie potty area at the motel was rocky, uneven and covered in roots. I twisted my ankle walking the dog there.

I had a woman stop me downtown as I walked my dog to ask where I was staying that allowed dogs. I told her but followed with, "We'll never go back."

Friendly place- look out for bears!

Decent place- we had a couple small issues, but the wonderful, friendly front desk staff resolved them quickly. We did see a bear in the parking lot one morning, but that's Gatlinburg..keep your eyes open!

        great value- very pet friendly

The front desk/staff is wonderful. We had a large , clean room with a mini fridge and easy access to pet trail. Yes, we did see a bear in the parking lot. This property is right near the park, so that is not unexpected! It is a short walk to downtown. Overall GREAT stay!

        they take big dogs too!

Bigger dogs can stay - it's just $10/night extra. Room was clean - some fit and finish issues (appears to under renovation). There is a pet trail now with access to a vacant lot just out past the swimming pool. Great for the dog to stay here but humans not so much.

We never had any hot water in the shower. Tried bathing at different times but still nothing. Office seemed concerned but couldn't do anything about it apparently.

Sheets were stained and full of holes - as were the blanket and comforter. The bed and pillows were otherwise fine. The carpet was stain free and there were no odors.

Fireplace was nice as were the appliances. Chairs and other furniture were clean and in good shape.

The lack of a hot shower just really sets me off. You're paying for a bed and bath and barely getting one of those. Silly me for expecting the bath to be with hot water.

        not bad for the money

The site we looked at on the internet said they had breakfast and a heated pool. The only thing they have is coffee in the lobby. No coffee in the rooms and you have to walk quite a way to get something to eat. and the pool is not only not heated but was very cold. No hair dryers in room. All in all, not bad for the price. Clean room, good location, and don't charge to bring your dog.

        Enjoyable for a motel

The room was very nice, we loved the jacuzzi tub! The only issue I had was that you have to walk a bit to find a decent area to walk your dogs. Considering there is a review saying bears go there frequently that is scary. I do wish they would have put us on the first floor because we had 2 dogs and it was a bit of a hassle. Overall nice room and I would definitely stay there again.

The motel 6 was clean and pet friendly and inexpensive.I love to travel with my dog,it was two blocks from the strip and less than that to the park trail. The staff was great and even helped us to stay another day at last minute!Over all I was very happy with the price and the room! The only complaint I have is flat pillows,if you like to travel with your dog the location is great!

        Do Not Stay Here

At 4 am, my family was awakened by a piercing beep and "Low Battery Warning". This seemed to occur every 15 min. and as I was falling back asleep (even while wearing earplugs) Finally around 6 am, I had enough and hunted for the source (we had blamed cell phones, ipods, etc). It was the smoke alarm! I finally took it off the wall thinking that would fix it--it still continued to beep! At 6:30 am, I delivered it to the front desk so they could listen to it. Front desk was understanding and told me to come back at 9:30 am to speak to the manager. I told the manager, "We are staying for 2 evenings, you need to comp this first night. My family came here to rest and enjoy Gatlinburg. Our first night was ruined and now we would drag the rest of the day." The manager said, "We will take care of it." That satisfied me until checkout.
At check out, he discounted the room a full 15%! Ridiculous!!! I responded there was no way he would put his family through a similar experience. He offered another 15% off the price. I steamed out of there never to return. When I checked out, that room still did not have a smoke alarm. DO NOT STAY HERE.
        Other Cons: Dated rooms,
        --Room smelled of animal urine
        --WiFi was unusable
        --Air Conditioner required repair
        --Ice Maker did not work
        Pro
        --Pet friendly
--Other guests tried to warn us not to stay here (sorry we did heed their warning)

        Sewer Explosion

I can't say if the hotel was good or not. About an hour outside of Hatlinburg we got a cal saying their sewer line exploded, and they put us in the other red roof inn. This one, on the other hand is not very nice. The room smells odd, cob webs in the restroom, and stains on the blankets. I'm hoping the convention center is a lot nicer, or we'll take our business elsewhere.

        Bad experience!!

We stayed at the Red Roof Inn for four nights, when we arrived the room they gave us smelled like urine so bad we asked them to show us another room, the second room was as bad as the first, they then moved us upstairs, it smelled but not as bad. When we told them how the room smelled like animal urine they proceeded to tell us that they do not let the animals stay on that side of the motel, but a day later I was speaking to another guest with a dog and they had put her in the first room they tried to put us in, so they are not very honest about where the pets stay. We paid with a debit card when we arrived and they told us it did not go through, so we had to pay with cash, the next morning we found out the transaction did go through and we had paid for our room twice, it took us two days and alot of hassle to get our money back. The swimming pool is supposed to be heated, but it was 90 degrees outside and we were still freezing when we got in, then we noticed green mold growing in the cracks of the swimming pool, very unsanitary. We repeatedly asked to have the name of the owner, but they refused to give it to us. Very rundown motel, even though the rooms were ok, you can tell this is a very old motel with low maintenance. We will not be staying at this motel again.

        NOT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE

I was not able to stay at the hotel because it was NOT wheelchair accessible. I specified on the phone that I needed a wheelchair accessible room (I mentioned it at least 4 times on the phone) and not once did they mention that its not wheelchair accessible. The only thing accessible about it is if you get a 1st floor room you can get into the room but the bathroom door you can not get even a child's wheelchair through the door.

Close to Smoky Mountain National Park

This was our first vacation traveling with our two dogs, so I don't have a lot to compare it with. We stayed 2 nights at the Gatlinburg location and found it easy to get to and easier to access the park, which was our main concern. The room was very clean and fresh, and although I would have preferred a hard surface floor, there were no evident stains on the carpet. The space to "walk your dog" was limited, but we were ot put off by having to walk around the corner to accomplish the task. The staff was cheerful at check-in, and the rates were very reasonable for the Gatlinburg area. The continental breakfast was a little more limited than I have had at other hotels, but it was still convienent to have juice and waffles in the morning. I would stay here again. My only disappointment was that Gatlinburg itself is not the quaint community it used to be. Too much commercialism, but the park is still lovely, albeit not too pet friendly.

        WAS OKAY

NOTHING GREAT, BUT WORKED OUT FINE BECAUSE WE NEEDED A PLACE FOR OUR DOG. ONLY REAL PROBLEM WAS NO PLACE FOR DOG TO GO DO HIS THING.( NEEDED TO WALK HIM UP THE STREET)

OK if you like black bears

We locked our Westie in the car (with the sunroof open) and walked downtown for a quick dinner. When we came back a black bear was marauding through the dumpster in the parking lot and through one in the passageway to the other side of the building. He was literally no more than two feet from the guest doors. I ducked into the lobby and asked the attendant if he knew there was a bear int he parking lot. "Oh yeah, he is here a couple of times a week." That was enough for us. We won't be back.

        Not too bad...

My husband and I stayed here for one night because it was pet friendly and had pretty good reviews. The hotel itself is not the finest, but we did find it clean, which is very important. We would only stay here again if we needed a place with our dogs...if we didn't have the dogs with us we probably wouldn't stay here. We were also given a room upstairs and far from the dog walking area, knowing we had dogs, which made it quite difficult taking them out when needed. Unfortunately, dog friendly motels are not always the nicest, so we probably wouldn't stay there again unless we were in a pinch and nothing else was available.

        average

The rooms were clean and did not smell lke dog. They had been remodeled, but need to replace the mattress. Not a large parking area and not a lot of grass for dogs. Price was great. I stay at a lot of Red Roof Inns because of travel and they are pet friendly.

        not too pet friendly

ROOMS LOOK JUST FINE BUT NOT ALL ROOMS WERE PET ROOMS. WHEN WE WENT TO EAT ONE DAY THE HOUSE KEEPER ENTERED OUR ROOM EVEN THOUGH WE HAD THE DO NOT DISTURB SIGN ON THE DOOR AND WHEN OUR SLEEPING DOG AWOKE AND BEGAN TO BARK THEY DECODED OUR ROOM KEY WHERE WE COULD NOT GET BACK INTO OUR ROOM AND STATED WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE HER ALONE AT ALL (EVEN THOUGH WE WERE ONLY GONE TO EAT) THEN THE RECEPTIONIST LIED AND STATED THEY DID NOT KNOW WE HAD A DOG WITH US (EVEN THOUGH WE HAD INCLUDED HER ON OUR RESERVATION AND PAID THE $10. PER DAY FEE ON OUR CHECK IN) AND STATED OUR ROOM WAS NOT A PET ROOM. EXCEPT FOR THE RUDE STAFF EVERY THING ELSE WAS FINE AND ITS REALLY CLOSE TO THE MAIN STRIP.

Right by the Great Smoky Mountains!

We stayed in this hotel for two nights...it was perfect. In case people need more of an area to walk their dogs, they could always walk two blocks to the beginning of the Gatlinburg Trail of the Smoky Mountains which runs right by a river and is one of the two trails that allows dogs. The hotel is also a short walk from the strip, so we took our dog there too and she had a blast. Pretty much the only problem we had was with the door handle of the bathroom, but since we asked for the cleaning staff not to clean our room, we didn't get that fixed during our stay. Beds were comfortable, plenty of room (2 queen beds and room for the dog's crate). Also with the mini-fridge, cable, and the free wi-fi, we had everything at our fingertips! I would definitely recommend this place and go back!

        Great

We just stayed 2 nights in Gatlinburg, but the hotel was excellent and Ken at the front desk was the best I've ever dealt with. When he found out that we were going on to Asheville from there, he called the Red Roof in Asheville and was able to get us a better rate then where we already had reservations. The only downside to Gatlinburg was the dog walk area could have been better, the dog walk area in Asheville was great! I travel with 4 chihuahuas and I've decided that I will always stay at a Red Roof if possible.

Extremely Pet Friendly & Nice Clean Pet Rooms!

We recently stayed in this hotel for 8 days. We are still getting adjusted to having to find Pet rooms as we have only had our 2 dogs for the past few years. The pet friendly hotels are limited and many claim to be pet friendly but end up not being so. We compared and choose this particular hotel because of location, pet fee, and quality of hotel. There is only a few hotels in Gatlinburg area that we found which claimed to be pet friendly and this was the best of those in our opinion. First, I will address the pet friendly rooms. They were very clean, and did not smell at all. The carpets appeared clean as well. The rooms were updated and moderately nice for a hotel of this price range. We had read a review of issues with Westgate properties in the area and a matter of bed bugs. We had no issues with any sort of bugs and at the time of our visit they actually came in and sprayed the common areas for insects. The g internet connection worked great from our room. It did go out one day but was repaired quickly. For once we actually got online at a hotel that advertised wireless communication. That was a plus. We compared the price of pet fees for the hotels and found this hotel to have the fairest fees as they only charged us 10 dollars per room, per night and not per pet. Some hotels were charging 20 per pet, per night and a 20 dollar cleaning fee for the stay. That is a bit steep, we felt. Also, as far as having an area to walk the dogs or bring them out, I felt that it was extremely friendly. I really understand people and how they make these statements that I found to be completely false. We are very picky people, we thought and were extremely happy with the pet area situation. First, the properties in downtown Gatlinburg, do sometimes have limited space for grass and even parking. This hotel sits right up next to the foot of the Mountain Range. Our room was on the backside which had a beautiful view along the running creek and forest. To let our pets go to the bathroom, we walked the short distance to the front of the hotel and to the rear of the small parking area at the entrance to the forest and also a separate small strip of grassy land going alongside the parking area. There is a path leading into the forest and we would sometimes walk a ways into the forest but mainly brought the pets along the strip of grassy area which was only about 5 feet wide but about 100 feet long. Many of the properties surrounding the hotel do post signs but those are personally owned properties and probably had problems with people let their dogs do their business and leaving it on their lawn. The best thing to do for this situation is to ask for a room near the pool area which is closest to the pet area. The backside and rear of the hotel has the best views. Our small dogs could put their heads through the railings in the back but we had them on a leash and watched them, just like we would our children. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful with many suggestions about the area and such. One plus was the sound proofing of the rooms. The walls were very thick so you couldn't easily hear outside or your neighbor's T.V. for instance. That is a plus when you have pets who many bark if they hear noises. Overall, we felt that the hotel was extremely accommodating and reasonable with good pets policies. For the price, you really get much more than you pay for especially in comparison to the other hotels. We were extremely happy as were our kids and dogs and we will stay there again.

        Red Roof

One of the nicest rooms I have stayed in for a pet friendly hotel.I have stayed in a few were I was afraid to let my "girl" walk around on the floor. The room was very clean and spacious. I would definately stay there again.

        Good Value

Our room was clean and comfortable. Also, the staff was friendly and helpful. We did have a little problem with our key card working, and it is true that there is no place to walk your dog on their property. I walked right across the street to some grassy areas by some hotels that were closed down. It wasn't a big deal for us.

        Review

There was no place on the property to take my dog to the bathroom, also the balcony on the back side had very large spacing between the rails so we could not have our dog sit outside with us. At the very least they need a dog walking area so you do not have to cross a busy street with your pet.
