  Do not recommend

  Not impressed. There is no grassy or even dirt area to take your dog to the bathroom - there is just a parking lot and gardens with large rocks and plants in them. The pillows were either super flat or super thick and lumpy. The sink backed up every time we used it. All there was for breakfast was waffles, toast, and yogurt. Kind of a cool area downtown, but also a little sketchy.

  Old hotel, high pet fees, no service

  The hotel is very run down. The charged an extra $100 for 2 dogs for 2 nights. For that they provide nothing. No grass to pee/poop on, no poop bag station. Nothing. I don’t mind paying pet fees when they provide an area outdoors for pets and a bag dispenser. This hotel is just collecting extra money in exchange for nothing. I wish my dogs had left a mess, but they are bounteous guests. They don’t know we were being ripped off.

  Acceptable

  Hotel staff are very nice and accommodating. The room was clean, but quite old. Ready for a major remodel! Pool area was fine. No issues.

  The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

  The GOOD: The room was larger than most "standard" King rooms & the bathroom was HUGE! The unit was immaculate, unexpected in a refreshed old motel. The bed was comfortable. Hotel right across from the historic Market Square with vendors, food booths, stores and good restaurants, all fiesta busy for pre-rodeo celebrations.

  The BAD: There was NO fridge or microwave!! Even though my research was detailed, not detailed enough... only DELUXE King rooms have those. I chose based on price, never thinking those wouldn't be there. Needless to say, I made my disappointment known at check-out. Travelers have become used to "standard". All ice machines in outside hallways had been turned off due to freezing overnight temps, but there was no ice available even in the lobby. There were no signs on the soft drink machines saying to use only credit card so I lost the money I put into the change. There was MINIMAL breakfast offered, enough to get started but no seating.

  The UGLY: So much road construction even the GPS was hard to follow (not the hotel's fault but very frustrating). The REALLY UGLY...NO usable pet relief areas on the property!! We were on the "back" of the hotel so crossing the street to the small patch of grass at the Police HQ was the only choice.

  So... nice room, noisy area, road construction EVERYWHERE (which will someday be finished). Won't be going back... mostly because of the attitudes at the front desk.

  Convenient Location

  Can’t beat the price and location especially traveling with two large dogs. We like the exterior door for taking the dogs out. No pet relief area at the hotel but there are plenty of grassy areas around the block. 15 minute walk to Riverwalk and attractions and conveniently located near the interstate. It is an older hotel but it is kept up well. We would stay here again with our dogs.

  Great location

  Very clean rooms. Dog walk area is just three 2x3 feet wide areas between shrubs. Too small for any dog. However, Riverwalk is within walking distance. Parking is right in front of door. Felt safe staying there.

  Good downtown location

  Location was good for Mercantile Market and a few blocks from River Walk. Room was spacious but place is rundown, was decently clean. Some patches of grass. If you are on a budget and just want a place to sleep it will do.

  Great spot!

  Great little spot right off the highway. Plenty of space around the pool to take the dogs to go potty. Well kept on the outside. Room smelled a little musty but it rained before we got here we turned on the air conditioner and then it was fine, the room was also very clean.
