Reviews
Travelers report that the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Fredericksburg South (I-95) VA is generally a clean and pet-friendly hotel with a fenced dog park on the premises. Some guests note that the rooms are well-maintained, the staff is friendly, and the hotel's location just off I-95 is convenient. However, a few reviews mention issues like poor air conditioning, broken bathroom fixtures, and inadequate breakfast options.

- JaneAug 26, 2024Best hotel on our long trip
This was a great place to stop. Everything very clean and well maintained. Our little dog, Rocky, loved all the fuss he had. We would have stayed longer but family was calling! Only one downside was the charge of $30 per dog. I felt this was a bit excessive. Perhaps that could be done in increments by weight of dog
- WilliamAug 11, 2024Fantastic hotel
This is awesome for dogs. The bedrooms are luxury vinyl, no carpet. Our dogs can’t stop sniffing carpet so this was a great adjustment for them. There is also a fenced in dog exercise area. Close to lots of restaurants and I-95. Great coffee at buffet in the morning; best “hotel coffee” we have ever had anywhere (not a reason to stay but kudos to the staff).
- MarcJul 22, 2024Would recommend for an overnight stay
The hotel staff was friendly and we got a 1st floor room with our dog. Room was clean and tidy. They have a fenced in dog area that is a nice feature. We left way too early to see what breakfast there was.
- JoJul 19, 2024Look elsewhere
Comedy of errors except that being tired it became less funny as our stay happened. It took 40 minutes to check us in as they couldn’t run the computer. In the room we found there was no soap. We were told they didn’t have any throughout the hotel. Ice machine didn’t work. Lobby rest room did not have towels or working blower. There were no remotes for the TVs. With our 'do not disturb' sign out there was a knock on the door in the morning to find out if we were staying over. Needless to say we won’t be back.
- FrankJul 3, 2024It was clean and ok
Front desk staff was nice.
- MelissaMay 26, 2024Good for the price
Overall, this wasn’t a bad stay. Pros: Fenced in dog park was a HUGE plus. It was well maintained and had seating areas. The refuse bags were missing, though. Dog treats at the front desk. Pet-friendly rooms were near the exit by the dog park. Decent breakfast. Front desk people were very nice.
Cons: The air conditioning was not good. It was hot and humid in the room and you can’t control the temperature. The door to the room was very difficult to open and the bathroom door didn’t close all the way. Taking my dog out at night felt a little sketchy because of all the big trucks in the parking lot. The coffee was nasty and cold.
- AndreaMay 24, 2024Great place for the dogs!
Great location, near food and gas, and awesome fenced in area for the dogs to run a bit.
- DouglasApr 27, 2024Nice hotel
Nice location right off 95. Room was clean and convenient. Will stay there again.
- ElaineApr 23, 2024Very clean
Yes we stayed in a pet friendly room. This room was very clean easy access to outside for taking out your dog. The staff was very cordial and friendly. Would stay here again!
- KathleenApr 1, 2024Great experience!
What a great experience. The room was spacious and very clean. From desk staff was really nice. And there is a fenced dog park!!
- JacquelineMar 8, 2024Check The Room Beforehand!!!
I didn’t want to totally ding these guys because 1). they were super super friendly and gave us a break on the pet fees for 3 dogs. 2) The room was orderly and probably as clean as they could get it and, 3) we were exhausted from driving all day and didn’t request a room change.
However, while we love they allow lots of pets- cats and dogs- check your room before taking it for the night. Our room REEKED of cat spray/litter. We thought we could tolerate it, but literally smelled it all night and nothing we did could clear the air, including open a window.
We let the front desk staff know and they were shocked, so I know they probably would have changed our room if we asked, but I didn’t even think about this when we booked because we’ve never stayed at a hotel that permitted cats. Other than that, friendly staff, great breakfast, and the dogs loved the smells so they were happy! 😆
- LauriMar 7, 2024Great stay
Room nice, good breakfast, and a fenced-in dog park. Perfect for one night on our drive south.
- ClaudiaFeb 15, 2024Easy off interstate 95
The friendly staff and clean rooms were terrific! The only reason for 4 bones vs 5 is the cigarette butts littered all over the outside, including the little dog park. My puppy made a meal of them, not good.
- HannahFeb 4, 2024Very dog friendly
This place is great, it’s right off 95, the pet fee is only $25, there’s an enclosed dog park, and you get a little doggy welcome bag at check-in. The rooms are big and clean.
- GeorgeJan 5, 2024Good location
Convenient to I-95 with good fast food around. Hotel had a enclosed dog area that was right outside the hotel.
- MichaelJan 1, 2024Clean faciity, friendly front desk
Warm welcome, nice dog park, fair price.
- ColinDec 28, 2023Good Stay
Room was clean and well furnished. It can be a bit noisy with all pets in the same area - one barks and others join in.
- AnnDec 14, 2023It's cold!
The hotel was dog friendly but the heat was set up strangely. It was set by the hotel at 60. Too cold for me. But the hotel desk clerk gave us a heater for the room.
- BettyDec 2, 2023Great stay!
Clean, quiet, friendly,
- JayneNov 27, 2023Not so good
Room assigned was an accessibility room we didn’t ask for, so we had a weird shower thing without a curtain and something to sit on; no bathtub and the seat that I guess the handicap type person sits on had a dead bug on it. The bathroom sink was almost completely stopped up, the water would not go down. It would take 4 to 5 minutes. There was absolutely no heat whatsoever in the room. I asked the manager about this he said that they have a weird old antiquated boiler system and that was the explanation. I asked if we could have some blankets because there were literally no blankets in the room, just basically a thin sheet and on top of the thin sheet was similar to another thin sheet. That was the bedding.
Graciously at about 10 o’clock at night, they brought us up a couple of blankets since my wife was the one that was really cold. I gave both to her but it was not a comfortable night sleeping. Good thing the door park was nice but unfortunately it was on the other side of the hotel, which is OK but it was also very very dark over there and kind of out-of-the-way at night And our key cards did not work in anywhere other than just our room so we were not able to use the side access stores to come in and out which made it quite annoying to have to go all the way around to the main entrance every time
- LyneNov 18, 2023Excellent service
[Translated from French] They didn't charge us for the dog. When we arrived there were dog biscuits available at reception and in addition they prepared a small packet of dog treats. The bedrooms are on the first floor and there are no carpets in the bedrooms. There is also a small park if you want to let your dog run, the only thing is that it is not lit in the evening. Breakfast is ok, scramble egg, bacon, potatoes, bread, soft bar etc. We could leave the dog in the room if they had a phone number to reach us. The hotel is not new but it is quite clean.
- BonnieNov 13, 2023Great location
Everything was great.
- BarbaraOct 23, 2023Nice stay
Staff were great, very friendly. Gave us a great room easy access to outside.
- KimOct 21, 2023Great staff
The person at check-in desk was a godsend. I didn’t arrive until 4:30am and he could see how exhausted I was. He moved the room to the end of the hallway to allow me to get 3 dogs into the room who had never stayed in a hotel before. He also gave me gift bags for the dogs with extra poop bags which were much needed. Never expected such a great experience to make a difficult situation bearable.
- MarySep 14, 2023Clean and comfortable stay
No carpet, room had great composite flooring! Clean older hotel. Nice grassy area for our 60 lb dog! Nice staff!
- AlanSep 13, 2023Nice pet-friendly hotel
Hoover Dog gives the Country Inn 5 bones. People were very nice. Hotel was as advertised. Thanks for a nice visit.
- LouisJul 17, 2023Nice stay
Nothing luxe but good facilities for doggie. Fenced-in good sized doggie park and plenty of grass around property. Rooms updated and clean.
- LucyJul 6, 2023Unfriendly and rude
Expensive for what you get. The staff was incredibly rude and even though the entire lot was empty on our side of the hotel, we were told we had to park our five foot trailer across the street in a lot that isn’t secured so just anyone could pull up and take it and our motorcycles too. It was ridiculous and there was no manager to talk to and when we asked for a refund and we would go elsewhere where guests can park on property and are welcomed by staff, they told us no.
- MelissaJun 17, 2023Clean
Very clean and pet friendly!
- RobertMar 25, 2023Location
Ok stay.
- ErnieFeb 26, 2023Meh
Nothing special.
- DorieFeb 16, 2023Nice clean hotel
Just what we were looking for in the correct price range. Dog park had been flooded by recent rains. Didn't look like anybody was picking up after their pets.
- DougFeb 12, 2023Great place for pet
The room was very updated, and there’s a fenced play yard attached. There is a delivery service so you don’t have to leave the pup to get dinner. Easy on and off 95. We would stay there again on our trip South.
- FrankFeb 2, 2023Nice place and helpful staff
Convenient to 95, clean, staff was friendly, dog park in back, and places to walk. Perfect place to get off the highway, plus coffee in morning!
- LaurenJan 31, 2023Clean and friendly
We enjoyed our stay here; it was convenient and the dog park area was great for letting the dogs loose for a few minutes once we were out of the car and it was dark.
- MichaelJan 3, 2023Location to I-95 a bonus
Very clean room with nice furniture and big screen TV. Good breakfast.
- TonyJan 3, 2023OK
The drive from MA was suppose to take 8 hours and turned into 12 hours due to traffic. I didn't find the reception to be very friendly. The place looked run down, dark hallways and strange cliental walking around the hallways. The room itself was clean and my pup & I just spent the night. The free hot breakfast was ok. I am sure there are better places to stay.
- CynthiaDec 11, 2022Good location
Right off I95. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable. Nice area for dogs. Quiet hotel, did not hear anyone or any dogs. Dog rooms on the first floor with easy access to outside. Two issues - breakfast wasn’t good and the back door leading to the outside dog area was broken and couldn’t work the handle.
- JohnDec 7, 2022Great pet stop
Brandon was awesome. Great spot for pets and very friendly. Right off 95. Rooms clean! Not fancy but perfect for what we needed
- CoreyDec 7, 2022Clean & quiet
Perfect location just south of DC and right off I-95. Super clean and plenty of grass to walk dogs. Fenced dog park in the back also.
- ElaineNov 26, 2022Great for pets
Had a wonderful stay.
- ColinNov 22, 2022Great time after long ride
Dog play pen area fine! Parents told me that they had a fine breakfast.
- EllenNov 21, 2022Great Location
Right off Route 95 quick on and off the highway. Nice fenced area for the dogs to run around in and a large grassy area in front of the hotel to let them run around too. The staff were very courteous and accommodating. The hotel was clean and adequate for an overnight stay.
- MelindaNov 3, 2022Nice overnight stay
We made our “same day” reservation very late at night, and they accommodated our need for a pet-friendly room beautifully. Although it sounds like generally the pet-friendly rooms are on the first floor, they kindly squeezed us in on the third floor. Very nice lobby staff, and a nice, hot breakfast. Pretty, well kept grounds with a lot of grass across the parking lot to sniff around on. The room was clean, large, very quiet, and met our needs just fine. The only drawback was a strong marijuana smell that was drifting from down the hall into our room. That is not the hotel’s fault though; some people just refuse to acknowledge the hotel’s rules! Very satisfactory overnight stay.
- LisaOct 19, 2022Great dog park on the property
I’m extremely picky about where I stay so I was very worried with all of the bad reviews but we decide to take a chance because it was conveniently located next to i95 and Fredericksburg for an overnight stay on our 12 hour car ride. We were not disappointed. The hotel and rooms very extremely clean, had a refrigerator with ice tray, microwave and comfortable beds. The hotel appears to have been upgraded with new flooring and new paint. We had a dog with us and they have a special area in the hotel for those guests with a fur family member. They also have quite a large and clean dog park to give the pups some much needed exercise during the long car trips. I’d definitely stay here again. The bathrooms were a bit outdated but it was spotless and the water was warm and had great water pressure.
- GrahamOct 13, 2022A bark above
Friendly staff. Great dog walk area.
- PamOct 9, 2022Not the usual Country Inn and Suites
Not up to Country Inn standards. Hotel looked tired and worn.
- RobertOct 4, 2022Great service
The room was above adequate.
- SaraSep 17, 2022Clean
Very clean hotel and grounds.
- SunnyAug 30, 2022Nice Venue
Good place for a pet for the night. Also has a pet park and free breakfast.
- DavidAug 20, 2022Nice place
Great fenced in pet area. Everybody there is very used to pets and very friendly. Great location for nearby restaurants. Highly recommend.
- SusanJul 31, 2022Not a great facility
The rooms were updated poorly, they were not dirty but barely acceptable in cleanliness, the dog run was in bad shape with heavy weeds and lots of places for creepy crawlers to hide. The rooms were poorly lit. On the bright side the staff was very polite and accommodating.
- RoxanneJul 10, 2022Not great
Hotel was packed. Room appeared nice, but had old food left behind on the floor (my dog found it.. gross). Upon check in I explained that the app did not allow me to adjust the number of pets staying overnight with me (I have 3). I said it automatically charged for one, but I wanted to be honest about the other two and expected to be charged. It’s $25 a pet. I already paid for one and see my bank statement where she charged me an extra $100!!! It should’ve been $50 and I’m pissed. Furthermore, the bathroom handle in the room is broken and we had to slam it shut in order to close it.
- Peter.Jun 21, 2022A good choice
The reservation process was great with BringFido. The hotel was clean with a nice staff and an outside dog park. We would definitely stay there again. The only issue was Google Maps address took us a vacant lot behind a gas station a mile away. The hotel is aware of the issue and has been trying to correct it with Google.
- ToddJun 19, 2022Great location!!
Great location and accommodations!! Zola did well too. Highly recommended.
- HollyJun 10, 2022Oddly good
The place was in need of a facelift big time. Room had a smoke smell and everything seemed tired. But for some crazy reason, me and my dog were quite comfortable there! Very warm and welcoming front desk members and some really terrific guests. Moral of my story is to not judge the book by the cover! Slept great too. Keep it up but spruce it up!
- CarleneJun 6, 2022Very nice hotel
This hotel had friendly knowledgeable staff, a better breakfast than most similar hotels. No rugs in the rooms (loved that) Dogs felt at home. Would not hesitate to stay with pets again!
- JudyMay 28, 2022Perfect pet facility
So clean!!! Friendly staff. Great breakfast.
- SandraMar 27, 2022We were both very comfortable
This property had been recently renovated, and it showed. The carpeting in the hall was plush, virtually silencing the footsteps that bring my dog to attention. The room’s floors were done with tasteful non-carpet flooring. The room itself was very lovely and accommodating. The staff was courteous and very helpful when there was a hiccough with my reservation. We had a lovely, restful stay. Thank you Country Inn and Suites and BringFido!
- LauraFeb 11, 2022Disappointing repeat visit
We have stayed here on prior road trips and found it to be a clean, pet-friendly, easy-access hotel. Unfortunately, last night’s stay was a huge disappointment. As we settled into the room after 10 hours of stressful driving, we hoped to decompress by watching the Olympics on TV before bed. The tv turned on briefly and then immediately lost its signal. The desk clerk said that the tv system was being worked on and channels being added, but would be restored. This was at 7P!, and was not even restored by morning when we checked out. More annoying, however, was the bathroom door which was out of its hinges and dragging on the floor, causing it to make a god-awful loud noise at every entry to the bathroom, thus waking up the other spouse several times during the night. Due to this visit, we will not be returning.
- MarkJan 17, 2022Ok, but not worth the price
Firstly, I must say the hotel staff were very helpful, however I feel the price not reflective of the hotel quality. I understand that the world has changed since the start of the pandemic, however this hotel seems to not be adapting to the current situation. Despite paying full price for the the amenities of the hotel, none were available, citing COVID precautions. So don’t go expecting a pool, hot tub, gym or breakfast (except a Muesli Bar and 50c pre-packet muffins).
The dog park wasn’t in good shape, clearly not cleaned with dog poo everywhere, including on the entrance, I did a few laps of the car park instead. In addition, I had booked a King Suite but then got told on arrival that this room is not pet friendly, and was downgraded to a basic queen twin, the room had clear signs of age and is in need of remodeling. Don’t pay more than $70! Stay at one of the MANY motels near by for $40+. Like I say, the staff were on the most polite, but the hotel was not worth the money.
- BillJan 16, 2022Great location
Rooms are nice with tile floors and on the first floor. There’s a Denny’s next door. Breakfast at hotel very basic.
- NancyJan 13, 2022Serviceable, easy on-off to Rt 95
Country Inn is reasonably priced and ideally located if you are going up or down the 95 corridor. Staff was nice, room was clean and bed comfortable, engineered hardwood floors are great for dogs, love the microwave and refrigerator in room, and free grab and go breakfast. Big area to walk dogs, including an enclosed run, but many guests didn't clean up after their dogs--that is so gross and inconsiderate. Seems to be a truck stop. As a single woman with a small dog, I felt vaguely uncomfortable/unsafe here so wouldn't stay again.
- SamJan 3, 2022Great fenced in area
Nice fenced in area out back! And good Himalayan food across the street.
- JillDec 24, 2021Will not stay again
Surly unwelcoming desk staff. Gave no information about breakfast and no info on where to take out the dogs.
- SuzanneDec 18, 2021Exceeded expectations
Our one night stay on our drive south was perfect. We were assigned a room on the first floor which had no carpeting (great design planning). It alleviated the scents of other dogs. The room was clean and very sound proof. The dog relief area was closed but It was cute with 2 fire hydrants. Staff was great. Parking was plentiful and parking lot well lit. Definitely on our list for our next layover.
- ReneeDec 6, 2021Great pet hotel
Hardwood floors make ALL the difference when dealing with a pet hotel. Clean, no odors. Definitely the right price!
- PatriciaDec 4, 2021Great location
Clean, friendly service.
- FrederickNov 17, 2021Great stay
The hotel lived up to its top reviews. The staff were warm and welcoming. The room was spotless and quiet. A delicious hot breakfast (but coffee was a little weak). A great enclosed walk area to exercise your dog.. Thank you. We’ll come again.
- ChaddOct 28, 2021No
Dog park was closed.
- SusanOct 11, 2021Nice location and clean!
Easy to get to off of I-95. The lobby and rooms were very well kept. I love the non-carpet floors in the rooms. I do wish that the little dog park had been open.
- JamesSep 26, 2021Clean, large rooms DOG FRIENDLY
The rooms were spacious and clean. Bathroom was absolutely spotless. Easy check in and out. Plenty of restaurants nearby.
- KennethSep 22, 2021Good location and first floor room
This hotel is just south of Fredericksburg so we stay there on our route from Philly to Savannah. The first floor room was easy to get dog in and out during the evening. Only issue was there was only one desk person on at night and she was not at the desk for 10 minutes because she was trying to help a guest with their TV instead of registering guests.
- AliciaSep 19, 2021Great place but...
The dog park was locked and we have high energy hounds that need a place to run. The room was very clean and dog friendly. The staff was very helpful.
- EllenSep 14, 2021Average
First thing I must say is that the room was nice and clean. I was very disappointed to find out that the hot waffle breakfast mentioned on their web page is not available on Monday & Tuesday! The hotel was “average” nothing special.
- KarenAug 21, 2021Great location!
Easy check-in.
- KristaJul 11, 2021Wonderful stay
Absolutely love this location for my pup and I. We’ve been here a few times, and the gentleman at the front remembers my boy! Great staff and great hotel.
- RebeccaJun 16, 2021Great stay for price and big dog friendly!
I have stayed here 4 or 5 times before Covid, now once since. Like everything else, the place has changed. But, still for the price, our room was clean, and well kept. The front desk was so friendly, and we were welcomed with a smile. Dallas, my 70 lb lovey felt right at home. There is a very large lawn in back to walk dogs and it seems that people pick up after their dogs. This is a great overnight stay for travelers. That being said, if you want the fancy stay, find somewhere else. If you want clean, friendly, dog friendly, safe, and quiet... this is the place. We make this trip two or three times and year, and I, a single 60 yr old woman, will continue to stay here. Thank you for another peaceful stay.
- BrigidJun 13, 2021Fredericksburg VA
Very convenient and staff was super friendly. My dogs enjoyed their first overnight in a hotel.
- BarbaraJun 2, 2021Very good especially if you are traveling with a pet
Hotel staff very accommodating, check-in was very easy, beds comfy, bathroom floor looked worn but the rest of bath looks like it was redone by Bathfitters. Easy on & off I 95. Would stay there again.
- FranMay 24, 2021Right off 95, very convenient
Room was not as clean as I felt it should have been.
- JeanMay 18, 2021One night stay
The hotel has LVP floors in pet-friendly rooms. Adequate for the price. Large unfenced area in back to walk the dog. Room was clean.
- EdMar 28, 2021As expected
Great stop with our lab. Easy checkin and checkout. Clean room.
- BarbaraMar 18, 2021Very clean rooms
Appreciated room flooring not being carpet for the dog
- BelindaOct 26, 2020Some good, some bad...
Overall our stay was fine. The Check-in process was sub-par and customer service by the check in clerk was slow and convoluted. Room was nice and clean and plenty of space outside for dog walks. I like the poop stands and loved the pickup and go breakfast bag.
- PatriciaAug 12, 2020Great recommendation
Hotel was very clean and check in was a breeze. Nice area for the dogs close to hotel.
- DebbieJul 7, 2020Good location
We have stayed here a few times. Easy access, plenty of amenities. Clean, somewhat dated, but OK for an overnight stop
- AugustusJun 9, 2020Review
It has gone downhill since the last time we stayed. Poor maintenance, bags of trash piled in hallways, trash strewn about back entries

The room was clean with no odors.lots of grassy area to take our dog out. Lots of restaurants nearby to get dinner. The staff are great. Very helpful and went out of their way to help us have our dinner delivered. We will definitely stay here again.

Not the Best and certainly not the worst. Very decent prices for a decent sized room and very clean. All the pet owners are lodged in the same area so sometimes when pets go back and forth from their rooms to outside area there is a bit of a barking session but other than that it’s very quiet and pet friendly. It’s very near many restaurants and there is a target, Walmart and various stores right down the road as well as 15 minutes from a very nice dog park called Duffy dog park I believe.

Very nice hotel, right off Rt. 95. Good value, indoor swimming pool and access to many restaurants.
- StephanieJan 19, 2020Spacious rooms
We enjoyed the size of room so we weren't maneuvering around our dogs. The room was clean, with a fridge that had a small freezer, and a microwave. There was plenty of grassy area for dogs to relieve themselves, more than most hotels have. The room did smell like dog so bring some spray or room deodorizer. You can only stay standard double queen rooms with pets which was a little inconvenient as the site allowed us to book a king suite so we had to call BringFido to see if we could get money back because of the room change. It's attached to a Denny's restaurant and a shopping center is not a far drive.

Felt good to arrive here after a twelve hour trip with our dog and cat. The staff was friendly, the room very clean and we all slept like babies.
- DeborahNov 21, 2019Easy on/off highway
Big private area to walk dogs. Attached to a Denny’s for food. Hard to get heat up in room, but clean and quiet
- KicheOct 14, 2019Great place to stay with a pet
Our ground-level room was impeccably clean, quiet, and spacious. I really liked that it has tile floors. My dog appreciated the treats from the friendly staff and the expanse of grass in the front.

- PeterSep 15, 2019A Step up
Very nice property with comfortable first floor rooms and plenty of lawn for pet walks. Some rooms are connecting and have doors that may prove overly interesting if you have a hunting hound!

I live in ny and was moving to sc. I was very nervous in general with my dog. A few days before we moved I had to put my other dog to sleep,so that alone made me anxious and worried about my dog on the trip and at the hotel. the hotel staff was super friendly. I actually had to add 4 or 5 more nights to my stay because of hurricane Dorian. There was no way to get in sc, the hotel was super accomadating and I even had dog food from chewy delivered there to make sure I had more than enough for that stay or longer. It's not even been 2 weeks and I have to go back to ny and will be staying there again. I felt comfortable there and so did my dog :) and thanks to all the people who reviewed this hotel as that is what made me choose this hotel to begin with

Easy on
- ArowenMar 31, 2019Very Pleased
My husband and I stayed last night with our 100lb dog. We got a king sized bed and the room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable and it was clean. The ac unit was very quiet... We slept very well. We got up and had a great free breakfast downstairs with fresh waffles! Very pleased with our experience.
