    Gorgeous surroundings and dog-welcoming!

We can’t wait to return here with BOTH of our dogs! The room was perfect with a small balcony; quiet and clean; everyone we mentioned our dog to (hotel and park) offered us either a biscuit or pup cup; our room was near a trail head we hiked on the morning of departure. We didn’t see anyone else on the trail. Lovely room with PLENTY of space to potty our dog. If you are visiting Shenandoah, I highly recommend staying at Skyland! The only thing that would have been nice would be to have a refrigerator in the room (that was surprising) and a locked trash can (for dog waste) outside of our cabin. We had to dispose of waste at the cans near the office. Minor inconvenience, but would definitely stay here again!

Great place for a getaway with pooch

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Excellent if somewhat limited menu in restaurant. Great location for accessing park

    Had good experience

We stayed in Canyon, but it was not raining. The room was good, with good view of valley, and it was easy to get our chawini out for potty breaks. The mgmt did not mind our leaving dog in room to eat. We just put do not disturb sign up so that housekeeping would not enter. Out of 500 miles of trails in entire park, only 20 are closed to dogs. Those closed nearest Skyland are very short (Limberlost, Stoney Man): you can leave dog in room or car. Most trails banning dogs would be unsafe, like Old Rag, Stoney Man, Bearfence, and on those picking up after dog would be iffy (rock hopping trails). We had a great time hiking in the area all day, day after day, including Applachian Trail. If rainy, ask desk for non-muddy area for room.
