Simply one of the best hotels we have ever been too! Beautifully designed, pet friendly, and the staff, well, once you walk in you are considered family. This gem is hidden in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and worth the trip. Did I mention pet friendly? Our pup was treated like royalty with a wonderful welcome gift. The Shoemaker (Head Chef Ed…an artist!) is a gourmet delight; the best steaks we have ever eaten and the mashed potatoes secret recipe was enjoyed the second day as we traveled back home. This is our new spot we are planning a trip back in October for our 30th anniversary. Also the residents of Lynchburg love their city and it shows everyone was so kind and welcoming. See you all soon this little slice of heaven in the middle of Virginia ❤️

Spent the weekend hiking outside Bradford, VA and spent my first night in Lynchburg with my niece and 14-mo old Rhodesian Ridgeback, Gus! On check-in, I was already overwhelmed with the dog-friendliness of this hotel (Gus received a care package, complete with multiple packages of biscuits and potty bags!). Our room was spotless, huge, and very updated. The beds were amazing (my niece commented that they highly exceeded her expectations and she wanted to take one of them home!). We loved the over-sized bathroom —- complete with a large, double-sink vanity, European spa bath essentials, a huge separate room with very large walk-in shower and wall separating toilet area. We loved the exposed-brick wall and huge vaulted ceiling, complete with wooden beams. We also thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing and delicious dinner last night on the patio of Waterstone’s with fabulous food, drinks, service and atmosphere (with Gus on his crate mat next to us and enjoying a few bits!). We will certainly be back to enjoy more that the Blue Ridge has to offer and to further explore this dog-friendly area of Lynchburg!

Taxi the Great Dane was greeted in the hotel room with a welcome bag of goodies! Affordable hotel that not only welcomes pets of any size but truly appreciates the pet, and I don’t mind paying the one time $50 pet fee. We will return to Craddock Terry!
- IanOct 5, 2019A wonderful place to stay with a dog
Buster, the hotel dog, has retired after winning a lifetime achievement award from the tourist office, his place taken by Penny Loafer the two-year-old wire terrier. She is already an attraction and there’s a signboard on the front desk to let people know whether she is on duty, resting, or out on a walk.
The hotel has been beautifully converted from an old shoe factory, and the rooms are very well appointed. There’s no sheaf of pet rules and they are very relaxed about dogs; there are a fair few here during our stay. Continental breakfast is delivered to the room, so there’s no need to leave the dog; doggie is also welcome in the lounge area where there is free tea and coffee and also a wine dispensing machine.
The hotel is just set back from the riverside path, and there is also an ‘exercise’ area just across the car park. There are several good restaurants with outside seating a short walk away.
The only minor negative is that there is a railway line next door so some train noise is expected, as well as a restaurant below some of the rooms.
The hotel does carry a price tag to match its upscale offering, and there’s a one-off pet fee of $50 per visit. Breakfast and parking are included.
