We stayed here because it was the only hotel in the area accepting dogs that wasn’t exorbitantly priced. Last year the gentleman checking us in was helpful and friendly. This year the desk clerk was surly at best. The bed was not comfortable, poor water pressure, there was a razor left in the bath room from the previous guest, so wondering how well the room was cleaned. Breakfast was minimal. If we visit DC again, I will look for something else, even if it is a bit farther away from our family in Reston.

First two times we stayed here we booked through BringFido, and we assumed the property would be fully informed of our needs (we have a large dog who's afraid of stairs). First time, all went well, and we weren't charged the expected $25 pet surcharge, so we were like, hey, this is pretty great. Second time, they gave us a room that housekeeping hadn't quite finished with--someone's shoe had been left on the floor. They switched us, so no harm/no foul, and once again they omitted the pet fee (yay!). This last time we had a coupon code that could only be used at the Extended Stay website. But though they tout their pet-friendliness on said website, there's no way to inform them that you've got a pet, or any other requirements, except the "special requests" field, which management at this property clearly does not read. We used this field to declare our dog and our need for a first-floor room. When we arrived, we'd been placed in a second-floor room, and it was news to the guy on the desk that we had a dog. (Which makes one wonder--did they also miss the memo on our dog the first two times, and it that why we escaped the surcharge?) Fortunately, they did have several rooms listed as available on the ground floor to switch us to. Unfortunately, it took three tries to find one that had actually been cleaned. Also, the place advertises a courtyard and a walking path, but the courtyard, like the rest of the property, is mostly hardscaped with not much grass, and in three visits I never found a walking path. Moral of the story: (a) always use BringFido when booking, and (b) maybe avoid this particular Extended Stay. It's cheap, but sketchy.
