Alfie at the Cellar

This photo was taken at The Cellar Restaurant in Blacksburg, VA. About 10 years ago, Blacksburg became our go-to overnight stop on a regular car trip we take between Pennsylvania and South Carolina. On our first such trip, we came off the road after a long, rough, snowy drive, checked into our hotel, and stumbled down the street looking for dinner. We walked into the Cellar—it was warm, the food was good, and we fell in love with the place. When we became rescue-dog parents for the first time earlier this year, we knew some old habits would have to change. Our usual hotel, for example. It was comforting to return to the Cellar last week, and to know our new family member is welcome there, at least when the weather is good enough to sit outside.
