This photo was taken at Canine's Halo in Austin, TX. Here in Texas, we often fly at night when the temperatures are cooler, in order to provide contrast on the thermal imaging system (which relies on temperature). When we need to positively identify an animal, we shine down a bright spotlight and visually identify the animal on the zoom camera.
