River Front Trails

This photo was taken in Grand Junction, CO. Walking the Blue Heron section of the Riverfront Trails. Nice view of the river and shaded. This was a nice easy walk, but be warned this is an asphalt trail!!! We knew it was warm (which is why our dog is wearing her evaporative cooling vest), but we thought with all the shade the trail wouldn't be too hot. Our dog made it 1/2 way back and refused to walk. My husband hand to carry her, which isn't easy with a 105lb Saint Bernard. She ended up burning all the pads on her feet and blistering all her toes. The trail was nice and I would recommend it, but if you are walking it in the summer make sure your dog has boots/shoes on!! This is no joke it was over a $200 vet bill and her feet still aren't completely healed even a month later.
