Hazel needs a home

This photo was taken in Webster, MA. Can you post our adoptable dog, Hazel?
Hi, my name is Hazel. I am a 2 year old female hound mix. I was surrendered to Tufts because my owner was taken to hospice care. I was fostered to a woman who could only keep me for a short time and was heart broken she couldn't keep me since I had a prey drive towards her many cats! I was then surrendered to Dog Orphans who helped find me a home but that only lasted 3 weeks because they did not know how to handle a dog reactive pooch like me. I have been waiting for a home for over 450 days now and are still hoping there is someone out there that wants only one animal in the house to give all their love to...me! I have been such an obedient, friendly girl here at the shelter to the staff and volunteers. I don't mess in my kennel over night or bark. I know so many basic commands such as sit, stay, lay, come, drop it, leave it, jump, etc. I have been training to learn to trust and obey my handler and stay calm when other dogs are close by and I am learning quickly. I am so unbelievably sweet with people of all ages that it is hard to believe I would react in a aggressive way around other canines. I do have wonderful house manners and love to learn new tricks! I am house trained and I love to go on walks and have a romp outside but I am also a couch potato when inside the home. I will sit with my head on anyone's lap and just soak in the attention. I do hope someone out there is willing to adopt me and continue my reactive dog training. Dog Orphans will help aid my new owner(s) with training that is recommended. Come meet me if interested. I will be sure to impress you with how sweet and smart I actually am!
