Tess of the trail towaterdog lake

This photo was taken at Waterdog Lakes Trail in Salida, CO. We are not in regular trail hiking shape. So it took about 2.5 hours to hike the 1.8 mile trail and another hour coming down. Several other hikers brought dogs. There was one stream crossing that was tougher for our little dog. But we could have carried her across. Bigger dogs would have no problem. Trail isn't tough, but you gain a lot of altitude on the trail. Beautiful lake. We didn't stay at the lake long because it was cold and windy. You could camp up there. Trail head is on hey 50 next to the road to Monarch camp grounds. Camp ground is very nice as well.
