Down on the beach

This photo was taken at Fort Funston Beach in San Francisco, CA. If you do make it down to the beach you will be rewarded with an almost endless area for your dogs to run and play. Many people walk in a loop, accessing the beach from either the stair ladder by the hang glider area or from the sandy trail (signposted) off the northern end. But if the tide is fully in this is not possible unless you don't mind getting your feet wet. Also, be on the look out for occasional dead seals or birds that are left rotting on the beach and which many dogs love to rub against. In case that happens, you could wash your dog at the faucet at the base of the drinking fountain at the parking lot. Or for really bad cases, take them to the wash station at the Petco store at the nearby Westlake Shopping Plaza! ($10 per dog at time of writing, 9/2017)
