Downtown Doggie Center
- DebiJul. 14, 2018Perfect for larger dogs especially!
I have a lab mix who is 4 years old; we have been going to downtown doggie Center for 3 years. He absolutely loves it. All of the staff is very knowledgeable and caring. They get to know the dogs , their personalities, and energy level. The dogs are grouped according to age size and temperament. I had taken Charlie to several other Doggie Daycares none of them compares to downtown doggie. This place is huge which means a lot of running space for active dogs. They provide doggy pools, play time, huge shady areas and their yard while it might not be pretty is perfect for their agility course and socialization in the way dogs like it. They even celebrate your dogs birthdays! Tanya the owner has the biggest heart she she rescues dogs that no one else would take. she is definitely not in it for the money she is in it for the love of dogs and only hires people who put dogs first on their priority list. I would challenge anyone to find a dog daycare with more compassionate fun and loving staff.

First visit to Downtown Doggie Daycare and both of our dogs came out with kennel cough (vet confirmed 2 hours after leaving DDD) after a 4 day stay. My dog hasn't been sick in 4 years! As soon as he ran into our arms in the office (which btw, stinks like Marlboro Reds) he sounded like he was hacking up a lung. The owner and staff acted like he had never done that before. "Oh my goodness, if he had been doing THAT we would have called you!!" they said. Uh, huh. He JUST started coughing horribly upon seeing us?!?! Not bloody likely. Kennel cough may not be the easiest thing to control in a boarding situation, but please don't lie to us. Dirty, stinky, crawling with bacteria. We'll go elsewhere next time.

They seemed much more attentive before they got so busy and large, I think they may just have too many dogs and not enough workers. I have had some issues with ticks even though I use flea and tick preventative. I've been coming here for quite some time but I have't been back since the last daycare visit. They certainly dropped the ball when they failed to notice that something happened with my dog and said they "tried" to call. But when they went from paper records to compute records somehow the information was entered incorrectly. Needless to say I had a very expensive vet visit. Disappointing for sure.

My baby Quincy has been going to Downtown Doggie Center for now 7 months. He is so excited to get there and loves the Staff and they Love him. I can't imagine him going ANY place else. They all know him by name and he is Happy to greet them. Yes he gets dirty playing and having fun- If that concerned me so much I would leave him at home. Yes he does go get a big drink from his own water bowl when he gets home- WHATEVER- he eats his dinner and then is ready for bed. He is a Happy Well balanced dog and I contribute alot of that to Tonja and Staff of Downtown doggy daycare. I can't thank them enough for taking GREAT care of my baby.

I felt compelled to right a review after reading "Heathers" above. I had made the rounds to tour all the daycare facilities in st pete as I'm particular and want my dog to be well cared for. DownTown Doggie Center is by far the best and my very energetic catahoula has been paying the days away for a few months now. First..while not the most state of the art facility the owner and employees actually LOVE dogs (what a concept) they love my dog as much as I do and she loves them too! to me thats to most important factor. Yeah my dog gets dirty sometimes but guess what she Played, in the dirt and LOVED it! , expressing her full doggieness. If I wanted my dog to be clean and ignored and babysat by a camera by people who dont even act like they like her or want her there then I would go to the very expensive and state of the art "Love My Dog and be treated like your dog it the next payment on the owners convertible, Just how my Husband and I and our dogs where treated when we were there.

Kahlua comes back happy and tired every time from doggy daycare. She becomes excited just pulling into the parking lot! She really loves going there and they care about the dogs a lot and take wonderful care of them. The staff is very nice and they keep the center very clean!

This place is beyond anything I ever imagined. I knew through personal friends that the owner loved dogs..but you find out immediately how much! There is no way your dog could come home without feeling loved and cared for. (oh, and with lots of new furry friends)! We had never placed our animal(s) anywhere besides family homes before we found Downtown Doggie Center- now, Tonja is the first person we think of. Wonderful, loving, caring, fun, happy--so many words to describe this place. Check it out.. you will not be disappointed!

We have been looking for over two years for a camp to bring our kids( pets)and not have to have them caged. We went in for a interview and met the most caring loving owners. I immediately knew that our family pets would be in wonderful care and hands on a very personal level. As a Pet groomer for over 22 years, I am very picky. The care they gave our pets was fantastic,, personal and loving. As well as they had no issues with moment to moment endless updates to us :-) , and Photos. Our Pets loved them like crazy and I just cannot say enough about all of them! I would give 10 stars if i could.

I have been looking for some time for a doggie day care center that I felt I could trust my Jake to. Tried two other centers but my dog was not comfortable in either center. Downtown doggie center was an intant hit with both Jake and I. Lots of indoor and outdoor play areas, a loving and caring staff. and a trained person who is on the premises during the night. No dog is left unattended at any time. The facility is very clean and odor free. As a senior citizen I cannot keep up with a 90lb one year old lab . Thanks to the staff at Downtown Doggie Center Jake comes home a tired and contented puppy.
