First off: it’s always a matter of when and not IF your dog will get sick here. It’s going to happen. I bought a 20-day punch card, usually going twice a week. I still have several days left but will not use them as we recently experienced our 3rd vet visit on account of this place.
Week 1 using the pass: my dog had some stomach bug and had terrible diarrhea all over my entire apartment, even parts of the walls, and lasted for a couple days at least. Cost me a couple hundred at the vet for the visit/testing/medicine. After waiting a couple weeks before she was safe to return, I brought her back and then she got kennel cough even though she was up to date on vaccines (apparently there are some strains that aren’t covered). Another couple hundred at the vet, at least. Most recently, during this terrible heatwave we’ve been having, she came back suffering from heat exhaustion. She didn’t pee for 10 hours, uninterested in water, and extremely lethargic. $130 vet visit. (Also, I once picked her up and her mouth was bleeding: no explanation, no staff member addressed it!).
Biggest issue that I experienced regularly: overexertion. They claim they give your pet rest periods and yet somehow every single day I picked her up from daycare, she could barely move for the rest of the night. Some days, she’d be back to herself by morning; other days, I had to refrain from too long of walks because she was still out of it. Compare this to the hands-down BEST doggy daycare in town, hosted by Crescent City Vet, where they limit the number of dogs allowed in the yard, they limit the hours IN the yard per dog, and my pet never ever came back a zombie. She was decently tired but never to the point of total exhaustion.
Camp Bow Wow has far too many dogs in their yard. They do not monitor the dogs well or give them vital breaks. In this heatwave, it caused heat exhaustion which could have developed into something much worse if I hadn’t kept her home and rested for the days following.
I am shocked at the rating, to be honest. You want a good daycare with caring, compassionate and knowledgeable staff and policies? Get yourself to Crescent City Vet ASAP. Avoid Camp Bow Wow at all costs.

My dog was turned away because they couldn’t mange cutting his nails…he’s 5 lbs. On top of that, they were very rude. I won’t be returning.

Vacationed in N.O. this spring. Used this Camp Bow Wow for three days. It was as easy as anyplace is to get to in NOLA and our 14 yr old, Thor, seemed to love it. He was anxious to go back every day. Didn't leave him overnight but that had more to do with us wanting to be with him at night.
You can tell the staff here does love dogs and are attentive to their campers
