Meh
HighlandsHighlands Inn Lodge has dog friendly rooms but you get changed a nightly fee of $35. You can leave your dog in your room uncaged without any problems if you coordinate taking your dog out of the room in the morning while housekeeping occurs. They don’t provide dog bowls, beds or treats. There’s a mini fridge in the room if you need it for dog food and a microwave in the lobby. While I was visiting, a bear came up to the hotel entrance door and was walking around the parking lot, so be careful taking your dog out. In terms of looks, I wasn’t a fan of this hotel. I didn’t have a bad experience but wouldn’t pick this hotel again.
Outdoor dog seating
The Ugly Dog Public HouseThis pub is entirely dog themed but only allows dogs at the outdoor tables. They have good pub food like sandwiches and burgers. The service wasn’t too great but the food was good.
Nice patio
Blue Bike CafeI took my chihuahua for breakfast on the patio. He likes to bark and the servers were nice about it. The food is good and it’s on of the few places in the area that’s open for breakfast. They also have a little shop with assorted jellies to purchase. They didn’t have dog bowls or treats, but they do have a dog menu. Dogs are only allowed on the patio.
Extremely Dog Friendly
The Holy Ground Irish PubDogs are allowed on the patio and inside the bar. On any given day, you see plenty of dogs at Holy Ground. They keep treats behind the bar. This is one of the most dog friendly bars I’ve ever been to. No one will give you the side eye for putting Fido in a chair like a human and enjoying dinner or a drink together.
Great boutique
Island DogGreat boutique dog store with a fun selection of treats, leashes, outfits and more. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. They were giving all the dogs who came in treats.
Not Dog Friendly
Gulfport Premium OutletsDogs can’t go in the stores. This place isn’t dog friendly.
Welcoming to dogs
Alabama OutdoorsDogs are welcome inside the store. It’s a small boutique shop with hiking gear, outdoorsy shoes, workout clothes, water bottles and sunglasses.
Welcoming to dog
USS Alabama Battleship Memorial ParkYou can pay $5 to visit the green area and exhibits outside the ship (planes, tanks, dog war veteran memorial, Vietnam memorial) or you can pay an additional fee to go on the ship. If you want to tour the ship, they have outdoor kennels where you can put your dog. Fido can’t go on the actual ship but they’re very welcoming toward dogs. There’s even a memorial honoring dogs who served in battle.
Bland food and no service
Moe's Original BBQSkip this one. You order inside at the counter and then Fido is allowed on the patio. The problem is, you don’t get any waitress service on the patio. I asked the staff for food suggestions and got the nachos which were actually kettle chips with baked beans, cheese sauce, jalapeños, red onion and what appeared to be canned chicken. They were awful-bland, a weird flavor combo-just no.
Delicious
Bake My DayI paid $5 for an ice cream cookie sandwich. It was small but delicious. The patio area is dog friendly and a nice place to relax. Fido is welcome on the patio but there’s nothing over the top dog friendly about this place-Fido can’t come inside, no water bowls, no dog treats or ice cream available for sale. Still, I’d recommend it because the food is good and there’s enough outdoor seating for the amount of business they have to make sure you get a seat.
15/10 dog friendly
Bass Pro ShopsI was surprised how much I enjoyed this place. I’m not very outdoorsy and didn’t think they’d have much for me. Wrong. They have ladies clothes, candles, candy, a dog section, home goods and all the other things you’d expect to find in an outdoor store. It was fun being able to shop for clothes with my dog in tow. The store has a lake area out front where you can walk your dog and some cute photo ops outside the store. There’s a lake area with ducks and turtles inside the store.
Fun & very dog friendly
Le Chien Brewing CompanyDogs are allowed inside and outside. I was traveling alone & took mine in the bathroom with me with no issues from staff. They have a good truck (Pie Eyed) you can order sweet and savory hand pies from. There’s cornhole and giant jenga for entertainment. They have a stack of dog bowls so you can get water for your dog.
Dogs welcome
Ocean Springs BeachThe beach is welcoming to leashed dogs. It isn’t crowded and there’s free street parking. There are porta potties regularly placed alongside the street parking but no real toilets along the beach. There was a shower to wash your feet off when leaving the beach.
Dog theme coffee drinks
Blue Dog BistroThe dog theme cappuccinos and lattes are a must. Friendly service. Good food. Free parking. Didn’t give me any hassle when I carried my little dog inside so I could use the bathroom.
Rude
Murky Waters BBQI saw this restaurant on here and called to confirm they’re dog friendly. I sat on the patio, which is behind the restaurant. I was the only person on the patio and could see why with the lack of atmosphere. The food was bland and flies kept swarming around to the point I didn’t even want to eat. As I was leaving, I stopped by the bathroom-carried my 5 lb dog with me since I was alone-and a waitress went out of her way to come into the bathroom and yell at me for having a dog in the restaurant. Go somewhere else. This wasn’t a great experience.
Random
Chauvin Sculpture Garden & ArtThis place is dog friendly but it's very random and not worth the drive unless you're already in the area. The sculptures are falling apart and located in the middle of nowhere with no other attractions nearby.
Good PoBoys
Killer PoBoysThe poboys are good. Dogs are allowed at the outside tables, but there aren't many. It's just a couple of tables in front of the restaurant along the sidewalk. I would say stop here if you're in the area but don't go out of your way to make this a dog friendly adventure because there isn't much space for dogs.
Can’t handle small dogs
Camp Bow Wow Mid-City New OrleansThey turned away my 5 lb dog for a nail trim because they couldn’t handle him. They weren’t rude to me as well. Won’t be back.
Can’t handle small dogs
Camp Bow Wow and Home BuddiesMy dog was turned away because they couldn’t mange cutting his nails…he’s 5 lbs. On top of that, they were very rude. I won’t be returning.
Great with difficult dogs
The Dog Stop MetairieMy dog hates getting his nails clipped. They never turn him away or give me a hard time about it. I’ve been very happy to find them. Plus, the space is nice.
Great place to find small dogs
Zeus' RescuesI adopted my small dog from here. They were one of the few rescues with small dogs. You must have an approved application before you can take the dogs out of the cages to play with them. They don’t do holds. If you want a dog, you have to pay and take it then or someone else can adopt it. They didn’t do a good job making my adoption day feel special. I’ve tried to connect with them to volunteer, which also hasn’t been successful. I have been very happy with the dog I adopted from them though.
Cute Treats
Jefferson Feed Mid CityI like to take my dog here on the weekend to pick out some of their gourmet dog treats. The staff is always welcoming and friendly.
Good with difficult dogs
Mid City Animal House Dog Daycare & BoardingThey currently only offer grooming on Tuesdays. You have to drop your dog off between 7 and 10am and then pick them up between 3 and 6pm, even if your dog is only getting their nails clipped. They were good with my dog, who doesn’t like getting his nails clipped and had been turned away at a couple other chain stores in the area.
Cute Gifts
Southern PawsSouthern Paws has the cutest gifts, including New Orleans themed items. They have a large bakery case of dog friendly treats and are a go to for dog birthday cakes.
Not welcoming to dogs at all
Lakeview Brew Coffee CafeThe staff was VERY rude to me about bringing a dog to the restaurant. The patio outside is “dog friendly” but they won’t come outside to take your order and make a big deal about it if you try to bring your dog inside to the walk up counter to order. I won’t be coming here ever again.
Featured on Food Network
Katie's Restaurant & BarSeveral of their dishes have been featured on Food Network. Everything I've had there is good. A few favorites are the conchon pizza and ribs, both of which were Food Network Features.
Delicious
Mona's Cafe Mid-CityNice patio and delicious food. I had the feta and olives, which I highly recommend. The chicken shawarma is delicious too. Service is good. I especially liked that this place wasn’t the typical fried food you find in New Orleans.
Great Pizza
Theo'sI love the Mid City location. Great pizza and wings. Limited outdoor seating, but I've never had a problem getting a table. Great place to watch the world go by.
Not That Dog Friendly
Bevi Seafood Co.The food is good, but it's not a great place to bring your dog. Outdoor seating is limited to a couple of tables and they don't provide water bowls.
Soooo dirty
Cafe Lafitte in ExileThis is the oldest gay bar in the U.S. It’s fun to sit on the patio and talk to tourists, but the inside is disgusting. They don’t have locks on the bathrooms, presumably so people can’t hook up or pass out inside. In the upstairs bathroom, there’s a clear glass wall where you can see men peeing and they can see you trying to use the bathroom. Yuck.
Dog friendly and progressive
St. Anna's Episcopal ChurchThis church is dog friendly and welcoming of all identities. It is a bit hot in the church, so west something cool. They also use a lot of incense that bothered my eyes a little bit.
Not That Dog Friendly
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino BiloxiYou can have your dog in your room and the lobby area but dogs aren’t allowed in the casino area, which for me defeated the whole point of going here. The rooms are nice. If you don’t stay at the hotel, they have free parking if you want to come in and gamble or access the fancier dining...again, Fido isn’t allowed in those areas.
Great Food & Very Dog Friendly
Shaggy's Biloxi BeachDogs are allowed inside and on the patio. They brought my dog a bowl of water and a bone. The servers were very friendly and several of them came by to put my dog. Great food right along the beach with a great view.
One Of The Few Cemeteries That Allows Dogs
Metairie CemeteryThis is one of the few cemeteries in New Orleans that allows dogs. Plus, there’s no cost to visit, unlike the cemeteries in the French Quarter. It’s easily accessible, well kept and good for walking for jogging.
