When I started painting portraits of friends' dogs, I didn't anticipate how much joy I would experience from the reactions that people would have. At this point, it takes me a couple of weeks at most. I work from photos plus I like to know a little about the dog's personality. Cell phone photos are fine as long as the lighting is decent. I need to see their eyes in a photo, too.
