    Good Vet But...

Dr. Kristen Vance is a good, caring veterinarian. I'm surprised that she can continue in practice as the communication by her and her staff is atrocious. Over the years, more times than not I ended up fuming by the complete lack of follow up by her and her staff. I had multiple instances that I had to go to other vets for urgent care due to the Doctor's unavailability during regular business hours.

    Wow!

To the Devastated Family that blames Homeward Bound for the loss of their pet.... I am very sorry for your loss and understand your devastation, but there are Veterinary ER's that are set up and equipped to handle any emergency when your vet cannot see your pet right away. I just had my first appointment with Homeward Bound and it was a prayer answered for me. I have a little dog that has been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and is at great risk when she gets frightened or too excited. It became a real issue when we would take her to a vet for blood work or follow ups. The last time she was so scared at the vet's office her heart rate jumped to 300 bmp and she was at risk of sudden death. So I scheduled an appt with Homeward Bound to come out and examine her and do her blood work to make sure everything was okay considering she is on so many medications. They came out and were so wonderful. Instead of Katie shaking and panting and being in a state of complete terror, she was licking their noses while they drew her blood! She was calm and relaxed and it was a wonderful experience for all of us. They did a thorough exam and hugged her and loved her as if she was their own. Katie stood at the door and watched as they drove off. I would do this again in a heartbeat! As a matter of fact they are coming back next week with the mobile truck to do an x-ray to confirm that Katie is stable and doing well.

    so thankful..

These girls are the kindest people you will have enter your home. They have nothing but respect for your animals. We had two german shep. / rotties and they were not the easiest patients. they are truly concerned about your animal. We have had to put our sweet girl down about a year ago. and just yesterday our boy.. during these hard times they were respectful and caring. They gave the space necessary for grieving and still were heartwarming. I am lucky that they are our vet. We still have our smallest dog maggie, and she is always happy to see them. I highly recommend these girls if you want a calm and caring experience for your pet. THank you guys for everything.

    Loved them BUT...

I loved this mobil vet concept, Dr.Vance and her assistance came to my place and took care of my cat no problem. I was very impressed with their professionalism and their truck contained all the latest technology and it was extremely clean. They were very gentle and loving with my cat which I really appreciated. The next day I was telling everyone in the office about them.

The reason why I am rating them so low is because they are very unreliable. They are hard to get a hold of and when you leave a message on their voice mail or e-mail them they never respond. I have tried to get a hold of them a few times with no luck. Bad practice when you are trying to grow a business like this.

I hate to take my pet to an actual vet's office but it seems like the best option rather than having to wait / almost beg these girls to pull through.

    Animal Lover

I was shocked and confused after reading the “Devastated Family” review. I trust Dr. Kristen with all of my furry children. In fact, she has saved three of my pet’s lives. My 14 yr old bichon, Molly, had a stroke a few months ago and has fully recovered thanks to her. In addition, my cat, Tyler, was diagnosed with Megaesophagus which is rare in cats and is usually fatal. Tyler was in such bad shape when Dr. Kristen examined him. She took the time to discuss my options. During that appointment she consulted with other vets and researched the disease further which resulted in one last option – a treatment using a regimen of various meds. Tyler has recovered and is doing well!! Lastly, my cat, Squeaks, who was diagnosed with renal failure several years ago, is still living a happy, comfortable life because of Dr. Kristen. She and Heather have always made themselves available for me and my babies. And the icing on the cake is her fees are reasonable.

    Rescue work

I just wanted to let everyone know that Dr. Kristen does wonderful work helping rescues and will work with you on prices and help out as much as possible. She is great with the animals and really takes the time to get to know them and do what is best for them.

    Wonderful Service

I can't say enough wonderful things about this service and I am not sure where the one negative review came from. Dr. Kristen has diagnosed and helped my dog with heart failure to have a much more normal life with medical therapies etc. She and Heather were very caring at my house and came out immediately when we called. Dr. Kristen came into my house and did not charge me an extra fee for that service. There is a house call fee and gas fee, but with the price of gas and the conveinence of having a mobile veterinarian come straight to the house, it is well worth it.

My neighbor has also told me that Dr. Kristen was great with her difficult cat and had no problem hitting the vein as stated in the review earlier on the page.

I highly rec. this service and suggest you give them a try!

    Crazy Review

I just read a recent review and this person is truly way off the mark. We have 6 cats and a dog. Dr Kristen has been our vet since she started Homeward Bound and We cannot say enough about how wonderful and caring Dr Kristen and Heather have been to all of them. Her services are very reasonable compared to a vet hospital and she does not "nickel and dime" for services. She is very reliable and very knowledgable about vet care. I would HIgHLY recommend her to anyone that wants the personalized care she provides.

    Devastated Family

At first I thought perhaps this vet may work, we started with shots, that seemed to be okay. Then, one of my female Siberian Huskies became ill, I called Dr. Vance to come and run some tests for her kidneys to make sure they were working okay, I was told that test came back okay. Neka continued to get worse as each day went by, I called Dr. Vance the following Monday and asked her to come out that day but was told she was to busy and could not come until Wednesday December 1, at 4PM, I told her that Neka was not getting better and I was worried still she would not come until Wednesday December 1, at 4PM. When she came I had her take more blood for a CBC, Dr. Vance seemed to have problems hitting the veins, in all 4 of my fur babies...but she finially got the blood. Dr. Vance called me the next day and told me that Neka was fine just had a little infection and wanted me to give her a Sulfa drug on an empty stomach w/lots of water. I had told Dr. Vance that Neka was not eating, sick to her tummy and could not hold water down, I had to give her a little water every so often to keep her hydrated. I felt uneasy about Dr. Vance's diagnoses, after Dr. Vance's exam on December 1, she had put on the findings page that Neka's heart was strong and her lungs were clear and yet I could hear just with my own ears some kind of fluid around her chest, so I called her specialist in Gaithersburg and he had me bring Neka in the very next day as he was very worried, a ultrasound was done, it was found that my sweet baby had a tumor on her heart, the sack around her heart was full of blood and fluid and her heart was barley beating. In addition, Neka's lungs were also surrounded by the blood and fluid that is what I heard with my own ears that Dr. Vance did NOT with her stethoscope or had no idea what she doing or hearing, she also told me that my baby's heart was good and strong and in truth her heart was fighting to beat. The fluid surrounding her lungs had caused one of her lungs to collapse. At this time I feel that I have made my point concerning Dr. Vance, other then when I requested the records and went over the blood work I also saw three items that should have at the very least concern her, and it did not. On December 4, at 7:30pm, I had to say Good-Bye to my baby, I had thought I would of had another 5 to 6 years with my Neka and I did not. My heart is broken into a million pieces, I miss her so much I have not stopped crying in almost two weeks. It was such a shock since I was told she was fine just a little infection by Dr. Vance. I do not understand how she missed all of this!!! How could Dr. Vance NOT hear the fluid when I did with just my ears!!!! Perhaps had she listened to me the first time I had her come to see Neka on the 24th or 25th of November she would have discovered what was getting ready to happen, we will never know now. I also noticed that instead of the $30 charge for her visit on the 1st of December I was charged $10 more because I asked Dr. Vance to walk into my home since Neka was so ill and weak I did not want to make Neka walk out to the van I was charged $40. If your pet is ill and you truly love your pet as I did my Neka, think again before you call Homeward Bound Mobil Vet! as all I see at this time is incompetence.
