Peace of my for me, great fun for my dog!
At the last minute I needed to find a dog sitter, as I wasn't comfortable leaving my dog in a kennel. Through dogvacay.com I found Martha and Pet Passions. I called Martha and she was quick to get back to me. She spent a lot of time on the phone with me explaining the way everything works, asking questions about my dog and answering any questions I had. She was very thorough in assessing Murphy over the phone and letting me know what to expect.
Luckily she wasn't so busy that she couldn't take my dog so we scheduled a meet and greet with her pack. When I pulled up I was happy to see a nice fenced in yard. She warned me to give her a ten minute warning before my arrival so she could put all the dogs away and let Murphy explore the area on his own. She was patient with him as he sniffed around and even though he was a bit shy at first, I just got a good feeling from her. You know how you just know someone is a dog person? That's Martha.
Slowly she brought out the other dogs, one at a time. All the dogs, both hers and visitors, were sweet and very well behaved. My dog is still an energetic puppy so I was a little worried he wouldn't behave but he seemed fine with all the dogs. Once the dogs were acclimated, we left them to play and went into her lovely home where she showed me where Murphy would be staying. Her house is very dog friendly, with a dog door, doggie beds and crates. I explained my concern with Murphy's shyness and she reassured me that she didn't think he would be a problem. She predicted that he would become best buds with another dog, Hank. Man, was she right! They ended up playing all day. I don't think I've ever seen my dog so tuckered out!
After I left I started on my long road trip feeling completely comfortable leaving my dog in the loving hands and paws at Pet Passions. Later that day, Martha sent me some videos of Murphy running amok with the other dogs and having a good time. Taking the time to send pictures and videos was a nice gesture and I really appreciated it.
A few days later I came to pick up my best buddy and he was so happy to see me! I know my dog really well, as most dog people do, and I could tell he was completely at ease and content. He had been taken care of and had a great time socializing with the other pups and humans. Martha gave him a glowing review and said he was on his best behavior.
I got to meet two of her other dogs and Jasmine, the Mastiff, is a love bug! I couldn't get enough of her. Mia is a sweet little lady too.
I will definitely use Martha and her pack to keep my best buddy company when he can't come with me. My experience was awesome and I know Murphy had a great time too. I've already told my neighbors about this great pet sitter I've found. It's a scary thing to leave your best buddy with a total stranger but at Pet Passions they make your dog feel like one of the pack and their attention to detail, thoughtful videos and general feel all put my mind at ease.
