- JanetJul 31, 2023Great food, service and sooo dog friendly
Had dinner last night and have to say this is one of the BEST dog friendly places we have been to. The food was delicious, entire staff was fantastic and our Cooper loved both the attention he got and the treats from the staff. Also enjoyed the sister Southern barbecue restaurant across the way - also very dog friendly. can’t wait to go back again soon !

A local dog owner recommended this place and now we know why! We came for lunch and got our own igloo! Great service even in times of covid, and truly welcoming of our two pups.

- CandaceMay 11, 2021Fun, delicious and welcoming!
Can’t say enough about this great place. Friendly staff, welcomed our two dogs and brought them water. The food was amazing! Try the Spicy Calamari! It’s “stew-like” and one of those dishes you’ll dream about! Server, Dan, was fun and very informative!
- DavidApr 20, 2021Doggie's Delight
If u have a dog and u are in Newport, Diegos is a must. Though the canine space is limited (rez recommended) you are seated with other dog families. Everyone got along and the space was enough to be engaged with the other dogs or not.
Now if u want to talk food... OMG. Street Tacos and Barbacoa Burrito...to die for. You gotta go here. - CatherineMar 28, 2021Best Dog-Friendly Brunch
With COVID they have seating in tents, indoors, and 3 dog-friendly tables in an outdoor patio with heaters. The only downside is that there are no reservations so I would plan to go early or put your name in since peak times may mean long wait times. Food and cocktails were excellent and the staff welcomed our pup with open arms!
- JonMar 21, 2021Sunday afternoon visit
My wife and I went to Diego's this afternoon with our dog Axel. It was pretty crowded but they found us a place on the deck. The fish tacos were amazing, the margarita wasn't half bad either. I would recommend Diego's.
- NinaNov 29, 2020Great brunch!
Went for brunch and brought my 45 lb mix. Wasn't sure if they would allow him since we went in November and there was limited outdoor seating. They were very accommodating and sat us at tables outside next to heaters.

- AngelaAug 4, 2020Cliff Walk And Lunch!
We walked the cliff walk then took our lab to have lunch at Diego’s. Great day trip!
- KirbyJul 25, 2020Excellent Food & Very Dog Friendly!
Stopped in for apps and drinks. They welcomed our pup with a large bowl of water and gave her plain grilled chicken as a snack, at no charge! Also, best nachos around. Highly recommend!
- JeannieJun 17, 2019Huge Outside Patio
Waiter offered a bowl of water right away. Staff was very friendly, many of them came over to say hi to my dog. Food was good too! Large outside seating which was nice.
- AlyciaJun 17, 2019Awesome Spot
After reading the reviews for Diego’s we decided on this spot for lunch. And I have to agree everything was great! We arrived for lunch around 2 on a busy Saturday afternoon and got seated right away. The staff was so accommodating when I asked to move some chairs around so our dog could have a nice spot in the shade. We have a large dog, a Cane Corso who’s about 130 pounds, and although places are “dog friendly” they’re not always thrilled when they see him. But the staff at Diego’s was awesome. He even got a feature on their Instagram - @dogsofdiegos (check it out below). Not only were they super dog friendly but the food and drinks were awesome too!
- CourtneyJun 11, 2019Awesome!
Food is fantastic, friendly staff, and a wonderful patio and doggie bowls!
- LynneSep 30, 2018Can't go wrong here! Friendly to dogs and great food and drinks!
Looking for someplace to grab a good, quick meal and Mexican was not our first choice, but we stopped here anyway because it was convenient and we saw someone else sitting on the patio with a dog. We were pleasantly surprised on all counts! The food was delicious, the drinks generous, and the staff was very friendly to us and our young, 70 lb Lab. This restaurant was a homerun and one we will definitely return to!
- More than a year agoOverall good
Good food, pateo space was kinda tight but they were pretty accommodating and gave space upstairs.
- CaitlinJul 5, 2018Dog-friendly patio
We came here with our dog for lunch today and were seated right away on the patio, which is mostly shady with umbrellas and very pleasant, even on a hot day. Our server filled up our dog’s water bowl before she even took our drink order! Lots of other diners with dogs there too. And the food was great - definitely recommend the fish tacos!
- MaxMore than a year agoExtremely Dog Friendly
We were extremely impressed with Diego's. We showed up at a busy time, and the host staff actually put together a table where we could sit with the dogs that was both outside and out of the traffic path. Around the time that our appetizer showed up, the waitress also brought out a bowl of water for the dogs. The entire serving staff was extremely careful to walk around the dogs, and we felt welcomed there even with the dogs.
In addition to all that, the food is fantastic and the service is terrific. Just an overall enjoyable meal with the dogs.
- TobyMore than a year agoVery dog friendly
Wait staff were super dog friendly. All were very careful not to step on any tails. No special dog menu but we brought our own to keep our little guy busy. We sat in the alley-way that services the bar. I was initially concerned about the traffic but found I needn't be. It was a great spot. Food was good and we will be back.
- ChetMore than a year agosuper dog friendly
Casual, and great food. A real find! So happy I stayed here.
- ErinMore than a year agoTight space on patio but dog-friendly!
Very hungry, I was looking for a spot to eat near the bustling wharf area in Newport. It was daunting looking at all of the tightly arranged tables in the area where restaurant real estate is likely expensive. I asked some kids working at a smoothie shack if they knew where dogs would be welcoming and they both agreed that they knew they had seen dogs at Diego's and that the hostesses are so welcoming. Sure enough I went there and the hostess smiled (I always anticipate annoyance but that was not the case at all) and said indeed they were dog-friendly and she would look for a spot. She found a table that, at the moment, was surrounded by some other unoccupied tables. Unfortunately it is a little tight for my 75lb dog who likes to stretch out ;), but they couldn't have been nicer, essentially stepping around him to pass with food. The food was delicious and not too expensive. They brought my dog a water bowl too. I recommend this, especially for smaller dogs.
