Perfect park!
King ParkThis park was so great we came here three times during our week in Newport! Many of the Newport beaches don’t allow dogs during the summer months, but at King Park we found some small beaches where we could bring our girl. Dogs are allowed in the water and all over the park area, as long as they’re leashed (though we did meet a few watchful dog owners who let their pets go for a swim leash-free).
The small beach areas are more pebbles than sand, but it was good enough for us! There were also plenty of shady trees and benches.
Definitely recommend a visit if you’re looking for a relaxing spot with a great view of the boats, or a place to sunbathe and swim that’s less crowded than the larger beaches.
Most pup-friendly restaurant in Newport!
O'Briens PubWe visited O’Briens on our last night in Newport and it was hands down the most dog friendly place on our trip. We walked in to see a handful of groups with dogs on the spacious patio, and we were easily accommodated when we asked to sit further away from the live music (our dog doesn’t love loud noises).
The server brought her a nice big bowl of ice water, and though we didn’t peruse the “doggie dining” menu (we had just fed her), they also brought out 2 milkbone treats along with our human food.
Everyone was super kind to us and our dog and we would definitely come back for that experience, plus the ambience and the food!
Great for drinks on the patio!
The National Hotel Tap and GrillWe came here during a day trip to Block Island on the Fourth of July, when we needed some relief from a particularly hot beach day. Despite the hotel’s restaurant and bar area being particularly crowded, we were immediately seated on the intimate back patio which had about 6 tables with umbrellas. The waitress was kind and wonderful to our pup, and cheerfully offered to bring out a water bowl before we could ask. Also nice that we were able to have table service even though we were only ordering drinks and not food.
Shipyard views and great food
Belle's CafeThis was an excellent place for casual brunch with our dog. Outdoor seating right on the shipyard is extensive and includes tables, couches, picnic benches and Adirondack chairs. Plenty of dog-friendl options in the sun and shade. You order at the counter and then pick up your food when it’s ready. Our pup loved the relaxed vibe and even meeting some other furry friends! The food was outstanding, too - Crab Cake Benedict and Breakfast Burrito were on point.
Dog-friendly patio
Diego'sWe came here with our dog for lunch today and were seated right away on the patio, which is mostly shady with umbrellas and very pleasant, even on a hot day. Our server filled up our dog’s water bowl before she even took our drink order! Lots of other diners with dogs there too. And the food was great - definitely recommend the fish tacos!
