  Great food, very dog friendly

  The food was great, we sat outdoors in their charming outdoor space. Even though it was cold outside, they set up heaters for us so we could be comfortable and also got our dog a water bowl. The place is a tad expensive for the food but worth it to enjoy a good meal with your dog.

  Excellent food, good value, very dog friendly!

  We had an amazing lunch to celebrate our anniversary at Solbar in beautiful Calistoga. Because we were spending the day in wine country, we brought our two well-behaved dogs along. The outside seating was plentiful and roomy--and beautiful, even on a somewhat chilly day. There was plenty of room between tables and the outside eating area is well off the beaten path of the restaurant and adjoining resort. (Dogs are welcome to stay at the resort, too, but we only visited the restaurant). The food was great. More than that, we appreciated how they went out of their way to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted.

  The prices for lunch, given the quality of the food, also made the visit an excellent value! That wasn't our intention (we were celebrating, after all!), but when the bill came, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that it was about the same as dinner at our favorite neighborhood place, which is good, but nowhere near Solbar's level and reputation.

  If you can't get dinner reservations, try Solbar for lunch!
