    Route 66 Classic

Great BBQ, treated dog great. Located right on historic Route 66. The only problem we had with eating on the porch were the numerous flies we had to swat away.

Had a good lunch on the front porch with our dog. They were very nice and accommodating. Would definitely stop again.

    Super friendly, great food

Driving from Vermont to California with our Akita and followed the highway signs on I-44 to this BBQ joint for lunch.

Staff was super friendly, happy to serve us at the front porch tables with our big guy -- even brought him a bowl of water and a beef bone!

Ordered ribs and pulled pork plates; both were dry-rub, well-seasoned and delicious. Several house BBQ sauces to choose from! Our favorite was the Sweet and Smokey.

Be aware: the front porch is also the main entrance, and shy or anxious dogs may get more attention than they prefer. Our Akita tends to receive a lot of attention, and in our case, all staff and patrons were very polite and asked before petting, including the children.

Overall a thoroughly satisfying experience. Would visit again if passing through MO. Definitely recommend!

    Dining with Dogs

While driving down Route 66 with our dogs on a three-day weekend last October, the last thing we thought we would find was a restaurant where our dogs could eat right along side us, but that's exactly what we found at Missouri Hick BBQ.

We had the historic Wagon Wheel Hotel on our list of must see Route 66 stops, without any knowledge of this true gem of a restaurant being within spittin distance of the hotel!

When we asked whether we could eat on the front porch with our dogs, a pitbull mix (Levi Pitboxer) and maltese (GiGi on the Scene), they said absolutely! When you're traveling with two dogs, you seem to rely on fast food to get you through your trip, but not on that day! We ate delicious Missouri BBQ! The pulled pork was delicious and the sauce is served on the side, so the dogs were able to try some too.

I definitely recommend this place for the authentic atmosphere, good food, and for being dog friendly!
