- SharonMar 25, 2024What an awful welcome to the Highlands
We drove for an hour to visit Wild Thyme excited for the dog friendly patio option. We were informed by the (manager I assume) who was condescending towards my little daughter that they weren't going to send a server to wait on us in the cold and that we could get a meal to go. Needless to say we walked away and found the Primary across the road with outdoor patio seating and it is definitely more welcoming and dog friendly. Wild Thyme shouldn't be on this list given the attitude towards dogs!!
- FosterAug 3, 2023Negative towards our Therapy Golden
My wife and I attempted to dine at Wild Thyme Gourmet on 1 Aug 23. We made reservations, including our highly trained therapy Golden (AKC DISTINGUISHED which is the highest rating available). Three other well behaved dogs were on the patio enjoying time with their pet parents.
Literally, within minutes of receiving our drinks, a totally CONDESCENDING and RUDE Mgr (I assume but he refused to say) no business card and wait staff feigned ignorance of this jerk, came to our table. As I mentioned, we had just ordered ordered drinks and appetizers while deciding on the main course.
This Cretin loudly and very RUDELY announced our time was up in 15
minutes and we would have to leave. WHAT!?!? 15 minutes???!! He needed our table! WHAT!????!I noticed several surprised, embarrassed, and shocked looks on faces of those seated close to us
My wife and I have dined all over the world at some of the finest restaurants, and have never, ever been treated in this horrific manner! I attempted to ask several employees his name and title but all they could tell me was his name.
Our Golden Retriever has over 1070 visits and 1050 volunteer hours at hospitals, schools and nursing homes in our area. We visit eight different establishment’s a week.
We have been treated with kindness and excitement at every other eatery, hotel, and local business in Highlands, North Carolina this week. Everyone; owners, staff and customers alike have enjoyed interacting with us and our dog while here.
We will be back in the fall for another visit, however, Wild Time has been permanently deleted from our list. He has absolutely no business in the hospitality industry. He is off putting, rude, condescending and carries an arrogant demeanor which is not compatible with a fast food restaurant, much less a fine dining establishment. His actions were inexcusable, indefensible and downright outrageous.

our meals were delicious and the patio is very dog-friendly
- WillamFeb 25, 2021Unsure of dog friendly status .
Went for lunch February ,2021. Patio seating was available . Brought our very well behaved dog along with us. Asked for a water bowl for our pup. A few minutes later another staff member informed us they do not have anything to put water in. We were about to close out our check when our original server brought us a dog bowl of water. Another set of guests was chastised for moving a table a little bit. The food was average but I think we will chose another place to dine the next time. You would think during the down season the staff would be extra helpful to generate business.
- StevenNov 9, 2020Great Food & Good Outdoor Seating
food was very good. we have been here a few times before but first time taking our new pup. she is always very well behaved but I got the sense the staff would have preferred us to not have her. they did not say anything of course but just kind of the sense I got from our server. the rest of the restaurant guests loved her. and again the food was very good. would still go back.

The food was ah-mazing and the service was fantastic. The patio was dog friendly and they have heaters outside which was really nice.
My rating threshold:
5 Bones: this establishment went out of its way to welcome our dog and the service we received was top notch!
4 Bones: this establishment provided us great service and was dog friendly.
3 Bones: this establishment was somewhat dog friendly but the service was moderate
2 Bones: this establishment was somewhat dog friendly but the service was pretty bad.
1 Bone: highly recommend not visiting this establishment. - DoraOct 16, 2018Wonderful outdoor dining!
This delightful establishment has multiple tables with umbrellas in front of the restaurant. The area is nicely contained within a ring of beautiful planters and posts. The luncheon grilled salmon with wild rice was delicious as was the spinach salad. It was really nice to not feel relegated to the outdoor smoking section as this area was no smoking as well! Miss Coco definitely approved of this restaurant!

Amazing food, server brought out water and treats for a Boomer. Didn’t even have to ask for water.
