  Used to be very dog friendly but now not so much

  I have been to Charlie's in the past and knew them to be dog friendly. I looked them up online to ensure they still were and then made a reservation. I arrived a bit early for my reservation and was told by the hostess that they would try to seat me asap. I asked if I could place a drink order while I was waiting. The hostess said she would find the server for the waiting area. She stopped a runner going by and asked him to find a server. He mumbled rudely under his breath, "Ok. But not my job." He did not send a server over so I eventually flagged one down myself.

  10 minutes after my actual reservation I had still not been called. I approached the hostess and she told me that they were full the entire evening. I told her I had a reservation. She looked confused for a moment and then told me oh yeah she would seat me next. It appeared that they had forgotten about us. We were seated on the upper patio area with our dog. After 15 minutes the bartender walked past us and rudely told us, "Dogs cant be in here." We asked since when and he again stated, "They cant be in here at this time." We told him we had been waiting for a table for over an hour and had never once been told he couldn't be there. He said he would have the manager come talk to us. The manager never came so we assumed the bartender must have told to let it be. We asked our server who by the way was very nice, what the policy was. She said that as far as she knew dogs were allowed but on the lower patio. She was unsure why they would have seated us on the upper patio.

  The food was very good although they were out of several items we requested. The atmosphere was nice being on the lake. But overall we were not happy with the entire experience.

  Dogs on the Lake!

  Charlie's in a great restaurant anytime but in the summer you're allowed to bring your dog out on the back deck which overlooks the lake. Food is great, atmosphere is lovely, and dog friendly. I mean, seriously, could you ask for anything more?!
