- EmilyOct 18, 2023Great drinks and dog friendly !
Our pup had a great time getting petted from all of her new friends and got fresh water when she showed up panting.
- StacieOct 11, 2023Dogs no longer allowed inside
We visited Traverse City in October. Unfortunately, it rained while we were there. We came across this dog friendly location. The outside looked beautiful but we couldn't enjoy it. We went in and ordered our drinks and mentioned we saw that dogs were allowed inside. The 2 bartenders informed us that dogs were no longer allowed indoors due to the stills where the whisky was being made. They were very nice, and we understood. We always ask (or call ahead). We offered to sit as far away as possible which they said was ok. I tried the 2 whisky slushy drinks which were delicious.
Super friendly, they loved our dog, dog treats given by the bartender, we understood the issue, we would love to go back and enjoy the quaint patio. Sorry our visit was so short. - RyannMay 30, 2022Pleasant for Pups
I bring my dog every time we head to TCW and they are always super excited to see her, even giving her a little dog treat from behind the bar when they have them. Wonderfully welcoming staff for pups and people alike and great drinks as well!!

Awesome place to take your dog. Their happy hour can’t be beat.

We love visiting Traverse City and when we couldn’t find a dog sitter, we were pleasantly surprised at just how many places are dog friendly.
Traverse City Whiskey Co is one of our favorite places to visit and we were over joyed with how welcoming they were towards our fur baby. While we enjoyed our superb cocktails, Hopper enjoyed treats and pets from the staff. We will definitely be back on our next visit to TC!

Dogs are welcome indoors and out. Most cocktailing is outdoors at the moment. Good spot for a cocktail with your pup.
- AbbyMay 4, 2021Dog friendly? Maybe if you're friends with the owner...
NOT truly dog friendly. We are traveling with our dog and specifically sought this place out because it was advertised as dog friendly. The owners and employees of this establishment are simply incompetent about dog behavior and should not advertise that they welcome dogs (inside and out) if they don't have basic knowledge of dog behavior and the skills to properly assess/respond to potential scuffles between dogs.
Shortly after receiving our drinks, we were told that our dog had to go out to the car because he had bitten another dog. These allegations were completely untrue, and actually unobserved by any of the employees. Another patron (who we later learned was a friend of the owner) had an excessively nervous and poorly socialized chihuahua or terrier mix that lunged at our dog as they were exiting the building. Our dog then (of course!) snapped back after being aggressed and the other patron claimed that her dog had been bitten. Although the altercation was noisy, it was simply nothing more than two dogs snarling at one another that was over in a matter of seconds. Absolutely no harm done.
Our dog is friendly, but does have some leash aggression. Having noticed that the other dog owner was getting up to leave, my husband got up from the table in an effort to avoid the dogs from seeing one another, knowing how our dog would respond (loud barking, etc.) to another dog walking by. Even though our dog simply reacted to the poor behavior of another dog, having a larger breed dog, we were the ones who received the blame and who's experience at this establishment was spoiled. Any person with basic knowledge of dog behavior would have been able to properly assess and respond to this interaction without compromising either patron’s experience.

We will hands down be back here with our dogs. They were greeted with open arms inside the building. Wasn’t too crowded and it is a bit small inside but the whiskey is awesome!! Cute photo opt outside in front of the building also!!

First visit in warm weather and of course, with COVID-19 times. Still great - almost all seating outdoors but nice mix
of sun and shade. Dog bowl for water available and nice grass to lounge in. Great spirits for the humans, of course. cheers! - StephanieJan 18, 2020We’ll be back!!
We loving visiting Traverse City Whiskey Co when we come to TC and this was our first with our girl. We enjoyed a cocktail while Scout enjoyed treats and love from the staff. The Whiskey and cocktails are top notch and they have an awesome selection of take home products too! We just love this place but even more so now, that we know we can bring the pup in the next time we come. Put this on your list of stops! You won’t regret it!
- BelindaSep 5, 2018Best place for our pooch to cool down on a summer day
I'm sad there is a poor review here for this place. Our dog was treated well and met a couple others while we were there. She LOVED the cold concrete, and we loved our drinks.
- JohnMore than a year agoRude bartender
We were in downtown traverse city, with our dog and we decided to try this place out. We made the treck (about 1 mile on foot) during our walk our dog had to go #2. We bagged up his business and tied it up tight. Once we got to the whiskey co. we were welcomed with open arms and threw away his baggie in the trash bin inside (because there were none outside). Apparently the trash can "began to smell" so the bartender rudely went up to us and said "omg did you actually throw your dogs feces in this trash can?" After offering to take the trash out and apologizing repeatedly she continued to be extremely rude and talk about us to other customers and made a big deal with the owner to the point where they decided to open the door to air out the smell. The way the situation was handled was very inappropriate and rude especially after offering to take the trash out ourselves. We would never recommend going there with your dog because it is not truly pet friendly. The worst part of it is that the smell that the bartender was complaining of was some gas (really bad) that I had. Overall, I would avoid this place with your dog at all costs.

Visited on a rainy Wednesday. Dog was welcomed inside and he found the concrete floor nice and comfy on a summer day! Friendly folks and excellent spirits!
