    Great Patio plus Doggie Menu

Dined with my pup June 2023. They gave us a cozy table next to the fireplace with a menu for humans and a menu for pups. Got her the grilled tilapia which was a generous portion leaving leftovers to top her meals the next day. Friendly staff, beautiful setting. Get the artichoke soup!

Bring Fido Really Came Through 🐾

We never new that the Hog's Breath Inn was dog friendly; they are so dog friendly they even have a menu just for the pups! The host was extremely friendly and sat us right away. Our Bluetick likes to spread out when he lays down and of course was in the walkway (every pet parent knows how long it takes to get pups settled in a new environment) but no one even mentioned it to us and they made it a point to make sure not to step on him. Once we got him out of the way and situated we started looking at the menu. Boy so many things sounded tasty! We ordered the penne pasta and sand dabs that were both absolutely wonderful! My husband had the house Hog's Breath Ale which he enjoyed very much. Our pup got the chicken which looked delicious; there were some small carrots and other veggies in the rice and a generous amount of chicken. I checked to make sure that it wasn't too hot but it was a perfect temperature. We did order the brownie alamode for dessert which was scrumptious, no dessert for the pup this time. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive making our overall experience excellent!! The Hog's Breath Inn has just become our go to place to eat when we are in Carmel.

    Dog Friendly Deliciousness

Loved this place! Great service, delicious food, beautiful ambiance of patio dining where we were never cold as there was plenty of outdoor heaters and fireplaces. As a side note they completely cater to the pampered pooch including providing your pup with their own menu to order from.

    Great friendly atmosphere

We were seated almost immediately during lunch hour. They have dog bowls available. Your dog must be on a leash and quiet. We layed a small blanket down for Clementine and she slept. The food is delicious. I would recommend to anyone!

    Great Place

we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere with our dogs. They have a dog menu and nice fireplaces to sit by. The food was really good and I liked the enclosed patio area that felt a little secluded and calm. We would go back!

Great Dinner Spot with Tons of Charm

Mom and I decided to take my dog to dinner, and we really enjoyed it! The back patio is heated and was perfectly comfortable on a cool, May evening. The patio looks like the set of an old western, filled with Clint Eastwood memorabilia and rugged charm. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They have a separate doggy menu with goodies cooked especially for them-not seasoned heavily but still delicious. They even have dessert! My boy loved the hamburger and rice. We even had enough left over for his breakfast. We humans enjoyed our dinners just as much. The roasted beet salad was light and flavorful and the Castroville Artichoke Soup was savory and creamy. My only regret is that I ordered a cup instead of a bowl. Be advised, they do have a few rules-no dogs at/on the table or in your lap, no feeding them from your table/plate and they must be quiet and on a leash at all times. My little guy has a stroller, and he slept comfortably. If you’re looking to enjoy a marvelous meal with a bit of Carmel’s history, head on over.

    Great Dining With Our Dog

Charming outdoor patio for dining! We are vacationing with our dog for the first time and found the Hog’s Breath Inn! Not only was the food awesome, but the atmosphere was really great! The restaurant offers a dog menu and makes everyone feel welcome. Our server, Rolando, was attentive and helpful! We enjoyed sandwiches and some Chili, our dog, Brisket enjoyed hamburgers and saffron rice! When in Carmel-by-the-Sea, we would look forward to another visit to the Hog’s Breath!

    Returning Patrons

We visit Carmel about once a year and stop by Hog’s Breath Inn every time. Dogs are only allowed on the patio but the fireplaces and heaters make for a comfortable atmosphere even in the late fall. The best features of the Hog’s Breath Inn are the dog attentive staff and the reasonably priced doggie menu. If this were a regular restaurant review, I wouldn’t rate it quite as highly: the people food is expensive relative to the quality but the wine list, while limited, is reasonable. Highly recommended in any case.

    Delicious for humans and dogs

Enough space for dog to move a little, dog menu (Logan was amazed), good music, attentive staff, great leisurely lunch
Samara(13yr old) - cute place reminded me of Harry potter

    Wonderful Experience

The restaurant was wonderful. We walked down the walkway and down the stairs directly into the outdoor area. The staff greeted us immediately and asked which table we’d be most comfortable at. This was perfect because my dog is on the shy side and won’t have as much fun in the center of the patio/action. The food was delicious and the service was great. Reasonably priced human menu and dog menu.

    poor service

Walked in the wrong entrance from the back. Didn’t realize and seated ourselves. After we realized apologized to the staff but they remained rude the entire time. Hostess was rude when getting menus even after we offered to move or wait. Server never checked on us, but checked on the table next to us many times. However the food was good, location was nice. If it wasn’t for the staff it would be 5 bones, I wouldn’t recommend or return, but if you do, make sure you go thru the correct entrance

    Yummy

We found this gem on (bringfido.com) after playing hard at the Carmel beach. The pups were pooped so they were good and laid down out of the way. We ate on the patio. We had a burger and Turkey sandwich both were delicious, moderately priced.
The patio is very nice but tables somewhat close together, we were seated next to a rock wall so we put our big (80 lb) girl there, the waiter had to step over her tail cause she wags it so much. Our little guy sat under the table hoping for ....
They have a doggie menu I thought was cute and reasonable with about 5 choices (6 oz. Chicken breast) all entrees come with rice $6. The menu also has the rules for dogs incl. No begging, barking & biting, as well as no dogs on laps, table, or chairs.
I thought the rules were very fair. I would only take well behaved dogs because the atmosphere is quiet and can be cramped. Good experience for us and I would go back.

    Save!

After our lack luster dinner at another restaurant with our dog, we stopped here for an after dinner cocktail. We should have gone here for supper! On the cool factor we were initially told it was Clint Eastwood's bar, but learned that night that he had just sold it. Nonetheless it was a cool spot and our dog was more than welcome.

    good food great patio

While the patio is an afterthought at some places, it's the center of the action at the Hogsbreath Inn.
They brought our beach weary pup a bowl of water. The food was good and we enjoyed a local brew.
    Nice and relaxed!!!

    GREAT outdoor area!!

We ate off the pub menu b/c thats what was handed to us and we assumed that was our only option for sitting outside. Apparently not - so ask for a real menu! But even the pub menu food was pretty good (hence the 4 bones) - what was so great was the outdoor area! There were 4 or 5 fireplaces plus heaters and sooo much ambiance it was just fun. We loved it. We'll go back for a great place to hang out with your pup (and hopefully get real food next time! Maybe it'll be 5 bones next time.) :)
