    Ravens Den

I was looking for a pet friendly restaurant in Manchester, Vermont while I was vacationing there.
I had been to Seasons in Manchester a few nights ago, and they were very accommodating to me and my dog, but I wanted to try someplace different for a change, so I went to the Ravens Den, because like Seasons, they were pet friendly. I was impressed that I could bring my dog inside rather than being relegated to the outside patio. The guy who made my reservation said that there were a few dog friendly tables inside the restaurant.
    Things fell apart after that.
I ordered a salad and a small NY strip steak, and asked that it be cooked medium.
My dog was comfortable laying on the floor next to my chair, and was a perfect gentleman the whole time.
After a half hour, I noticed that people who had arrived after I did had their salads, and I didn’t.
I didn’t see my server, who was MIA for most of the time I was there, so I asked another server if he could find out what happened to my salad.
A few minutes later, my server appeared with my salad and said that the person who made my salad has a quiet voice, so he didn’t hear him call for a pick up.
I ate my salad, which was good, and continued to wait for the steak I ordered.
After another half hour, I asked the guy who seated me to please find my server, because I wanted to know when I was getting my entrée.
After 10 minutes, I saw my server bringing entrées to a party of 3 who had arrived 20 minutes after I did, so I flagged him down and asked him where my food was. He said it was coming right out.
The restaurant wasn’t full, and in fact didn’t have a lot of people there to begin with, so I didn’t understand why I had to wait so long, and why people who arrived after me were getting their food before me.
I asked the guy who seated me if he could bring a bowl of water for my dog and a small plate so that I could put some pieces of steak on it for him to eat.
Ten minutes later, no water bowl and no plate, but my server showed up with my steak, which was dry as a bone, not cooked medium, but well instead.
I asked him for the water bowl and a small plate so I could feed my dog.
He brought water in a dog bowl, and then told me I couldn’t feed my dog, because they’re not allowed to put food on the floor. REALLY??
I told him the food could be put on a plate or in a bowl and wouldn’t be on the floor.
I asked why the restaurant is considered pet friendly if my dog isn’t allowed to eat there. His answer was that I can bring my dog into the restaurant, and he can have water, but no food. Then he disappeared again.
I asked the guy who seated me to bring me a box for my dinner, and to have the server bring me the check.
The cost of the salad was $18, and the dried out steak was $34, plus the lousy service.
I paid the bill and went back to my hotel room to finish dinner with my dog, who had patiently waited for over an hour beside my chair without making a peep or moving a muscle.
Needless to say, I will never eat at the Ravens Den again.
FYI, Seasons in Manchester lets you feed your dog while you eat. That to me is truly pet friendly.
