My husband and I brought our Toy Poodle to the Cookery. The restaurant is one of our favorites in the French Quarter. We ordered several things and it came out as expected and in order. The food is so delicious here and so are the drinks. It was a nice relaxing experience with our puppers in the beautiful courtyard. We had our own travel bowel for water but all the staff greeted our puppers and made him feel welcome.

Let's start with the good...we ate dinner there and the food was OUTSTANDING. I had the Gumbo YaYa and Creole Pasta. My hubby had the Creole Pasta also and a wedge salad which was a nice, generous portion. Like I said, the food was outstanding and that is why I gave this restaurant at least some stars.
Now for the bad. We were seated outside near a back corner. NO ONE came to wait on us. It was hot, we were dying of thirst and no one even came to give us water. All we had was a menu, no tableware or even condiments on the table. Many wait staff were bustling around us, waiting on every table but would not even make eye contact with us.
It was like we were invisible. I don't know how much longer we would have waited but I finally grabbed someone and asked to be waited on and to give us some water, please. We placed our order and again waited a long time. By now, we had been at the restaurant a very long time and even our well behaved dog started to get antsy. It was super hot, and there were no fans. We were shocked when our food showed up. They did not serve our food in courses. Everything came at one time! We had a two seater table and our food barely fit. We had to ask for everything. - KarenMar 16, 2023No longer great
Something changed…it was very disappointing. We had a reservation and got seated at least 30 minutes after the reservation. We waited a really long time, maybe 20-30 minutes for our server to come by and take our drink order. She finally came by and by then we were able to give her our entire order as we waited for so long. Our food eventually came and it was COLD. AND we were still waiting for our drinks. The duck was delicious, that was the only decent part of our dinner. Everything else was cold. Service was really, really slow. They had no silverware or glassware, so we had plastic cups and plastic ware. There was a rat running around on the floor at the bar behind where we were seated. They are listed as being dog friendly, but they never brought our dog a bowl of water or even acknowledged him.

Had lunch there. Treated puppies well , brought water and made sure they had room to be comfortable. Food was amazing. Waiter was so nice. I definitely recommend this spot
- LindaAug 1, 2022Place out of the rain
The staff set us up in the breezeway to stay out of the rain. They were very gracious and treated the dogs to some gator sausage. Food was not the best but the location was great on a Monday in the rain.
- DonnaApr 14, 2022Delicious - with a great courtyard to accommodate the dog
The food was delicious and they let me put my little dog on the chair next to me throughout my meal. They seated us near the fountain in the center of the courtyard so he would be away from the traffic.

Last day in NOLA brought me this cute quaint courtyard for an early dinner with my furchild. Looking at the menu I had NO idea what to pick because everything sounded great. The waiter recommended I get the Tate of New Orleans dish which had Jambalaya, Crawfish Etouffee, Shrimp Creole & Red Beans & Rice. Each tasting better then the next!!! I almost finished the whole thing because it was so delectable. To drink I had Poppys Vodoo Juice which I HONESTLY didn't expect LOL it came in a traditional tourist plastic bottle!! It worked out wonderfully because there was no way I was finishing that drink during dinner and I was able to take it with me for the rest of my night out in town. They also accommodated me and made a few strips of chicken for my furchild, he had no complaint. If I could make a suggestion it would be to offer water bowls for the dogs like most of the restaurants I encountered did. It was no big deal for me as I always go prepared when traveling with my furchild.
