Quick Stop

Drury Inn & Suites Hayti Caruthersville

I was heading to New Orleans and needed to stop for the night half way through my drive. I chose this hotel because of the reviews and the fact that they are pet friendly. There is an additional pet fee that is charged on top of the room FYI. I arrived at about 1:30am and was greeted upon entering the lobby. It did take a little while to get checked in but that was to be expected as this was an impromptu stop and no reservation had been made. The room itself was spacious and clean. The king size bed was clean and comfortable, there was a single seat in the room in the room as well. Water pressure in the bathroom was pretty good though I noticed the water wasn't going down as quickly but my shower didn't last long so it wasn't a major issue for me.

Tasty Treat

New Orleans Creole Cookery

Last day in NOLA brought me this cute quaint courtyard for an early dinner with my furchild. Looking at the menu I had NO idea what to pick because everything sounded great. The waiter recommended I get the Tate of New Orleans dish which had Jambalaya, Crawfish Etouffee, Shrimp Creole & Red Beans & Rice. Each tasting better then the next!!! I almost finished the whole thing because it was so delectable. To drink I had Poppys Vodoo Juice which I HONESTLY didn't expect LOL it came in a traditional tourist plastic bottle!! It worked out wonderfully because there was no way I was finishing that drink during dinner and I was able to take it with me for the rest of my night out in town. They also accommodated me and made a few strips of chicken for my furchild, he had no complaint. If I could make a suggestion it would be to offer water bowls for the dogs like most of the restaurants I encountered did. It was no big deal for me as I always go prepared when traveling with my furchild.

New visit

Marie Laveau's House of Voodoo

This was a planned visit for me and I am glad I was able to make it. Though it is a little touristy this is a great store with some pretty cool finds. I visited with my small dog in his tote and had no problems at all.

Ghost City Tours

Bad Bitches Tour!
I had never done a walking tour before and honestly was expecting something slightly boring, but it was my first night in NOLA and I thought it would be a great way to jumpstart my first solo trip and get a view of the city at night. I am so happy to say I was wrong about my expectations!!! This was such a fun tour to take and my tour guide Elaine was THE BEST!!! Of course I know my NOLA history so it was great to hear her spill the knowledge she has accumulated and as well shut down the fake stories that may be fun but not necessarily true. Its clear to see she loves her city and the history it holds. I had my dog with me and I found it the sweetest that she made sure to ask if how he was doing with keeping up on the guide. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!! Had she had another tour available in the days I was going to be in NOLA I would have definitely booked another tour with her.

Nice Surprise

Cafe Amelie

I recently visited NOLA for the first time on my first solo vacation with my furchild and I was a little nervous about eating out in public alone for the first time. Café Amelie was a hidden GEM and perfect experience for this first timer. I was walking down the street when I looked up and saw a cute simple sign that read Café Amelie, intrigued by the court yard alone I stopped for a second to look when the host said "No, No. Sorry, no dogs!" I started to quickly explain that I was not stopping when the host let out a huge grin and said "I'm kidding, the little guy is welcome!" With that I decided to cancel my park lunch and sit down for a proper meal. BOY AM I GLAD I DID!!!! First let me start by saying that they placed a big smile on my face when a young man walked up with a bowl of water and ice for my furchild almost as soon as I was seated. I ordered the Chicken and Andouille Jambalaya Pasta and let me tell you I let out the biggest MMMMMM ever when taking my first bite. The flavors were amazing and the portion for lunch was huge! I also ordered the courtyard cocktail of the day, I wish I remembered what it was called because the drink was very refreshing and something I would enjoy again. It was a little strong for me personally so I didn't finish it, but I don't think most people would have a problem with that! All around a great experience.

Happy Old Man!

Lucy's Retired Surfers Bar & Restaurant

I absolutely loved this place!! I was recommended to go by a co-worker because the food was good and they were pet friendly. Lucy's did not let me down, I walked in on a light night and was promptly seated INSIDE!! My waitress came over and brought a large bowl of water with ice for my pup and proceeded to hand me two menu's, one for myself and one for my dog... BIG PLUS for this furmom! I had the Fried Shrimp Po Boy with fries which was not only huge but delish, and an iced tea. My pup had the Surf Dog Delight which was a 3oz burger patty and I think he was pretty pleased as nothing was left behind. If I make it to New Orleans again I will FOR SURE stop by to try another tasty item off their menu.
