When I made the reservation for dinner, I specified that my family will be bringing 2 dogs. The restaurant initially tried to give us a table in the middle of the patio right next to tables on either side during a busy dinner hour. I had to request a different table away from the middle of the patio because we did not want to disturb other customers who did not have dogs. Unfortunately, we were then given a table right next to the entrance to the patio where everyone had to walk past to get in and out of the patio area. As another family with 2 dogs were leaving, those dogs and one of our dog barked at each other, which is natural when dogs pass each other. A very rude manager of the restaurant came over to very loudly yell at us that our dog is barking and that it is not allowed. The other family with 2 dogs had just left and so we were the only ones being yelled at by this rude manager. He was yelling so loud that everyone in the patio area could hear him. I would think a restaurant that advertises as dog friendly would tolerate a little bit of dogs barking as they pass each other. There's also no reason to be so rude to customers who went out for a family dinner and spent several hundred dollars on dinner. We will never go to Union on Yale again, and I advise other dog owners to stay away.

This place has nice outdoor seating and a decent menu at a higher than typical price point. Dogs are welcome on the gravel. Wise to bring a pad for your dog to lounge on if you don’t want them on the gravel. Four stars because while the tables are bussed, the floor or ground under the outdoor tables is always dirty, covered with dropped fries or whatever when we go there.
