    Set amidst the Gardens of Houmas House Plantation, the Carriage House Restaurant offers dog-friendly al fresco dining in elegant surroundings. Outdoor seating is available for lunch and dogs are permitted. The Plantation grounds also welcomes dogs on a leash. Calling the gift shop prior to arrival to let them know you will have a dog with you. There are resident pups around the property and it’s helpful for them to be aware of another dog on the property.       Hidden gem!

      The entire place is dog friendly. The Dixie Cafe (also at Houmas House Plantation) allows dogs in the dining area. They have outside tables, but not outside service. If you choose to sit outside, you have to go in to check on your order and bus your own table. They also have a buffet (absolutely fabulous!). Carriage House is the same—outside seating but no outside service. Well worth the side trip. The grounds are beautiful.
