It’s overpriced on the pier but good and dog friendly.

There was no hostess at the front hostess stand, I walked inside and had to wait 3 minutes to be greeted. Multiple staff members walked by me without greeting. Finally an older woman asked if I needed help and I let her know we had put in a reservation for 2 with a dog. We were told the only dog friendly tables were the 3 tables out front of the restaurant at the entrance. They are in front of the restaurant in the hustle & bustle of Fisherman’s wharf. The 3 tables have no heaters, and it is cold on the water, they are also in a very busy area. We were expecting to be seated at the tables on the water side at the back of the restaurant, but those are not dog friendly. The customer service was truly disappointing, we did not get a bowl of water for our pup as other reviews had stated. There was a dirty bowl of water in the corner that seagulls were drinking from. The food was bland, our water cups were not refilled, we had to ask for our check.
The waitress ran my card on another ticket and I only noticed when she handed me back someone else’s card. She voided the transaction and ran my card again on their ticket. She handed me back my card but the other tables’ receipt with their name on it. She had to also void the second transaction. Finally another woman stepped in to help her run the card on our ticket properly.
The clam chowder was bland with no flavor. The fish & chips were good and had a yummy dipping sauce.
Definitely will not return due to the lack of competent service, busy table seating, and lack of heaters.
- HeidiSep 10, 2023Good food.
The restaurant had outside tables so we could bring Daisy for lunch. The food was very good. They even had a dog menu which was great. Definitely a great place to go to.

Domenicos was a great stop! they have outdoor seating but did invite my family + our pup inside to eat! It’s a nice restaurant and the food was great. I recommend the clam chowder and crab ravioli!

My go-to is bacon wrapped scallops with risotto - JenniferMay 17, 2019Great Service, View
I stopped in at Domenico’s while on a work trip in Monterey. I bring my dog with me everywhere I go (including work trips) and needed to find a pup friendly place for lunch. We walked the wharf and Domenico’s looked like a great option. It was a bit overcast and chilly so they let us sit inside in the bar. There were two other groups who had dogs and all of our fur babies behaved while sharing the space. They had a dog friendly menu- Dillinger got the chicken! And I got the clam chowder in a bread bowl (delicious!). Our server was super friendly and fast. Would go back next time I’m in town for work. Thanks so much for a great lunch!

I agree with the reviews. Good place, good food, good service and we sat inside near the fire place.

We saw that this place was pet friendly, but were pleasantly surprised when they let us bring our dog inside. The food was great, and the service was fantastic. Super friendly staff. We’ll definitely go again.
- BethJul 8, 2018Food was great (for us) but they were really weird with the dog.
There was a lot of confusion with things, we never saw a dog menu, they promised her water and didn't bring it, we ordered her salmon with no sauce that came WITH sauce, and we had people commenting that we'd been there all night by the time we were able to leave.
We wanted to hold her - (she's tiny and doesn't do well on the floor), but they wouldn't let us. So they let us sit outside - forgot we were there, repeatedly. Wish I had known more about their rules before showing up and being shuffled through places with confused staff long before we were told we couldn't hold her. They had even tried to sit us at a tall bar table - having the tiny pooch that far underfoot would have made me nervous the entire dinner that someone would step on her.
So - we enjoyed our food - passersby really enjoyed our darling dog - but we didn't see the dog friendly service that others were lucky enough to get. Since this is Bring Fido - they only get one bone.
- CatherineApr 5, 2018Great food and staff
I loved that the gentleman outside actually stopped me to let me know that they had dog friendly seating inside as I would have passed this place up if not! One of the few/rare places that have created an inside dog friendly area near a fireplace. The food was pretty good and they have a small dog menu as well although adding some rice to the chicken/meat selection would make it even better for the price.
- SvetlanaMore than a year agoawesome, super dog-friendly
We had dinner with 7 people and 2 dogs, everything was awesome. They sat us inside! I didn’t know it was possible here ... Dogs had their own menu. People’s food was also very high quality, especially seafood. All staff was very accommodating and authentic. This will be definitely our top priority place to visit next time we in Monterey.

It was a very rainy day in Monterey and we were looking for a place to have dinner with our soggy pup. This place was amazing! They allow dogs in the bar area which has large glass doors that open to the patio and I’m sure are open in nice weather, but tonight we were warm and cozy in a corner table just inside the door. The staff was extremely welcoming and the manager immediately came over to apologize that they were out of dog treats (on their doggie menu) this night. It didn’t matter! The food was great (we had swordfish and mussels), and the service was friendly and attentive. Ours was the only dog while we were here and was very relaxed, but when we were leaving the manager said that even when there are a lot of dogs they are all relaxed because it’s such a welcoming place for them. I don’t doubt it—we had a really nice night, and couldn’t be happier to have found this place. Highly recommend!

Domenico's is amazing. Its true they dont have an outdoor 'porch' or 'patio. They use the front of the restaurant as the dog friendly seating and can open the door effectivlely making that aread a porch if the food inspector comes by and complains. They have a great little doggy menu and make you feel very welcome with the pup. Will definitely be coming back next time we are in Monterey!
- JohnMore than a year agoNo Patio
The description says nice patio but there are NO patios. We wanted to sit outside but the only seating choice was at the front bar so we declined.

We were walking down the wharf with our dog when the person at the door saw us and invited us into the restaurant telling us that since it was cold, we could sit in the front room of the restaurant. The hostess seated us and brought water for our dog. Then two different employees brought over a biscuit for him (on the special dog menu it lists the cost of the biscuit as 1 tail wag). The management made several stops by our table to make sure that our dog was doing OK and if there was anything else that he could do for him and us. We were well taken care of and will definitely return to Domeneco's when we are back in town.

After going down the wharf and sampling clam chowder, my dog and I came to Domenico's. The hostess let us know they were dog friendly, so in we went.
Their chowder was delicious, I thought it was the best on the wharf, the bread was warm, soft on the inside and crusty on the outside, served with garlic herb butter, and their fish and chips was excellent!!!
They had bowls of water at the ready, and a doggy menu as well!
Will definitely go again! - TraciMore than a year agoDog friendly restaurant on the wharf
My Lab mix and I visited Monterey/Carmel last September, and toured everywhere a dog was welcome (which is nearly everywhere). On Old Fisherman's Wharf, Domenico's was my choice for us. We had tight, but pleasant seating. Rowdy had a chicken breast from the dog menu; I had a small pizza, cappuccino, and maybe the best ever creme brulee. We had very acceptable service. It added to a fun day in Monterey.
- TonyMore than a year agoDidn't have to sit outside
We decided to eat at Domenicos last night after walking down the pier and checking out all of the other restaurants. The three deciding factors were the food display out front, the friendly host and the fact that they allow dogs in the front portion of their restaurant.
Service was very good overall and we never felt the need to have to call anyone over to get what we needed. Several people visited our table to see if we were happy or needed anything.
We ended up getting the grilled swordfish, steamed mussels and clams and a side salad. The grilling on the fish was perfect, the steaming broth was wonderful and the side salad had a great mix of greens and vegetables with a very yummy raspberry vinaigrette.
We'll probably be back the next time we're in Monterey with the dogs.
