  Great food and nice setting

  They have a nice variety of foods with a seasonal menu too. Lots of outdoor seating some of which is in the shade. My dog was annoyed by the grackles. Afterwards, we had a nice walk on a trail around the pond.

  Asked support dog to leave

  Beforehand I looked up to see if Central Market was pet friendly even though my dog is my registered support pet just because I have too much anxiety about confrontations, among other things, and don't want the hassle/embarrassment of being told to leave. I saw that the market allows assistant dogs only but allows pets in the cafe. Well, there is a heavy stipulation on the cafe pet policy; They're allowed on the patio (which is where I was planning to sit) however, you're not allowed to go inside and order with them. This does not count as a pet friendly place in my book at all. My dog was laying at my feet, out of the way, and not even making a sound while I was taking a minute to decide what to order before we were asked to leave, WITH the manager knowing that my dog is registered. Needless to say, I'm never going to Central Market ever again, without or without my support pet.

  Short version:
  You have to leave pets outside while you order and unless your dog is a register service dog for the blind or handicapped it is not allowed in the cafe with you, even to order, and you will be asked to leave or leave the dog outside.

  Visit was on 1/31/16 at the South Austin location off S. Lamar, busy Sunday at the grocery store. Lots of traffic through the outside tables. Food is good! Only umbrella cover.
