We ended up going to a different park as it was just in a desolate area and did not feel safe for 2 women. Wish it was better marked
- CassidyJun 1, 2022Ideal hiking spot for dogs! Plus creek!!
My dogs loved the creek in particular. It was super fresh clean water so I didn’t have to bathe them after. Been here a few times already and love it!

Great place to bring the dogs. paved and unpaved trails. Even a creek to play in if you so desire. Trails nicely marked.
- KaylaAug 2, 2020No mansion
We had 2 areas where fallen trees completely covered the path and the multiple limbs on the trees make it very hard for the dogs to get over it. We were very disappointed when we couldnt actually see the mansion going around the trail, you can just see a tiny piece of it here and there through thick tree lines. It was quite muddy even though it hadn't rained that day. The bugs were non stop in our face. The dogs liked the creek, but do not stand on parts of the big rocks that are under the water as they are extremely slick.

We stopped here with our two pups before checking into the Airbnb and it was a great hike to tire them out. There’s a shorter version and a 2 mile hike which we did. Make sure to bring a pair of shoes you don’t care about as mine got ruined, some places are very muddy from the water running down (bring a towel for your pup if they’re short, our low rider got her belly muddy). Scenery was great and trails were extremely dog friendly with many rest stops with dog facts at them. I would highly recommend, great to connect with nature and your pup!

This was the perfect trail for me and the pup! Great way to get away from the city for a few hours. Easy/moderate difficulty, plenty of benches to break on, very dog friendly!
- HaleySep 17, 2018Great Wooded Nature Trail
We have taken our pup on this trail twice now and love it! Finding the trail can be tricky, but if you make your way along the paved path to the creek and cross over you'll see the entrance. The trail is shaded the whole way making it great spot even on a hot summer day. Our pup does not like water, but if your's does you have access to the creek as well! Highly recommend.
- LunaMore than a year agoGreat experience
If in Nashville with your dog, this is a must do. Luna our yellow labrador had the best experience. Florida is pretty flat so this was her very first experience hiking on a real trail, surrounded by beautiful long trees. We loved all the benches along the way.

The trail was a little confusing to find. Walk over the creek bridge, past the stage area and the trails are to the left. So worth the find! Hilly hike with people zip lining overhead.

I never found the nature trails. I only found the paved Greenway, but that took me to the creek where I could let my dogs cool off. We actually stopped there twice, just for the creek.

Traveling to Nashville from out of town and found this hike on this site. So happy we did! Easy, dog friendly, 2 mile hike.
- JennaMore than a year agoHands Down Best Hiking Train in Town!
We have taken our dogs to almost every trail in the Nashville area and the Fontanel Trails are by far the best we have been on. The main trail is 2 miles and the trail is wide and mostly smooth. Some trails I spend most of my time watching where I step as I trip easily, but this trail is smooth. The trees are lush and canopy providing excellent shading for summer hikes. There are several benches where you can sit and relax and enjoy the view throughout the trail. And there is a creek at the base of the trail that humans and dogs can swim in (signs posted at your own risk of course). This is just by far my favorite trail and a must for anyone bringing their pooch for a visit to Nashville.

I took my dog and wife out here the other day and had a picnic by the creek. We ordered take out from Cafe Fontanella, the Italian restaurant on the property and had a wonderful picnic. After the meal we took a walk around the 2 mile hiking trail and enjoyed the beautiful nature. Definitely will return

- TaylorMore than a year agoGreat place to bring man's best friend!
The Fontanel has plenty of dog friendly activities to offer. There is a shaded 2 mile long hiking trail around the property which is great for man's best friend. You can have a picnic on the bank of a beautiful creek while your dog enjoys a cool dip. Also, there is a disc golf course on the property as well. When you're done with all of that, relax with your dog at the outside seating of Cafe Fontanella, a fantastic Italian restaurant on the property!
