  Dogs Are Allowed Again, But…

  Dogs are allowed again on all trails (rumor is, the director who banned dogs finally retired) including the ‘soft’ trails, but I’m still not going back

  Used to be great!

  We used to bring our pups here all the time. We got to get some great nature walks in and our dogs got to smell loads of new smells. Now with the restrictions to paved paths only, we won't be back. I know the decision was made due to an off-leash attack, however we encountered off-leash dogs (before we got ours) that we had to beat back with our walking sticks. They did not come from the nature preserve - they were from the houses behind it. The change won't prevent those dogs from entering the park, and it's only going to lead to dog injuries from hot paved trails.

  Limited Areas Open To Dogs

  Hal and I have been going to Lake Conestee Nature Park since it opened. as of June 18, 2020, dogs are no longer allowed on the dirt-based nature trails. they, along with bikes, can only be on the paved paths. While this significantly reduces where you can go in the park, it is still a decent place to take your dog. my rating of 3 bones out of 5 is because of throw new rule. there had been several reports recently of dogs being off leash, I am sure it led the management to this decision.

  Beautiful Place

  I took my German Shepherd named Schoop, here today and he had a great time. It was a beautiful place to walk and relax. We just went straight one path for about 30 minutes and then turned around and headed back. There was plenty of shade but i would suggest going on a cool day, today it was 98! He was extremely tired and thirsty after and took the day off from playing. I would 100% suggest taking your dog here :)

  Very nice area

  Visited here on a warmer day with our 10 week old puppy. He was fine on the well defines trails and paths, with lots of shaded areas and interesting views.

  Great Trails and Shade, and Close to the Dog Park!

  We love taking our pup to walk the trails at Lake Conestee Nature Park. These trails are mostly in the shade and provide a great place to give your dog some exercise in the middle of the summer. We love that there are both dirt paths and the wooden deck-covered trails, and it's right outside the new dog park!

  Great Trails

  I love taking our dogs to these trails. They're conveniently located, shaded, and well marked. And there are several trails to choose from, so we're not always walking the same path. Highly recommended.

  Puppy fun

  My dog and I visited the trails during the summer months of 2012 because the trees provide a lot of shade. Obviously there are a lot of bugs at that time of year but it was nice to get out and do something out of direct sunlight. My dog loved all the different smells and I was happy because she was happy!
